Columbus, Ohio- Plan your next trip

When you are looking for something to do in Columbus, Ohio, you won’t have to look far to find something amazing. My husband recently decided he would have no problem living here- you can thank the fact that this is a real “foodie” town, and that there are many, many varieties of micorbrews and local and well known beers available here (you know he is an enthusiast, he even brews and is in a beer club) and to the fact that it the people are so very friendly. Can I tell you- even in a sports stadium, when their team was losing, fans were still cool? I love Ohio. And you will, too!

Even in the dead of winter, when it has done nothing but hail, snow, and sleet for the past few days, there has been lots to see and do, both indoors and out. And don’t let a little “weather” stop you! Get going- there is a lot of fun to be had in Columbus. Not to mention, Spring is right around the corner, and this is a great time to plan your spring vacation.
Some fun ideas for your trip?

Farmer Jason & High Dive- Cute Kids CDs

Ready for some new CD’s?

First up is Farmer Jason and Buddies Nature James. Farmer Jason is a stage name which Jason Ringenburg has picked up to release some of his more child friendly albums. Mr Ringenburg is most well known for his alt-country and modern Americana music in the band, Jason and the Scorchers. This new character is all about farming. nature and getting outside and enjoying yourself.

In his previous albums Farmer Jason had quite a bit of country music But his most recent release, Nature Jams, has a more diverse menu to choose from. There are rockabillie tracks, country, even a Celtic and a blues track. You would be hard pressed to not find at least one song on here you enjoy listening to. We try to get the kids at culturally aware as possible, and that includes all kind of music.

This cd can introduce littles ones or parents to new genres and new artists to look into. Speaking of new artists the ‘Buddies’ Farmer Jason brought with him for the album are something to listen to, they include: Mike Mills from R.E.M., The Saw Doctors, Steve Gorman from the Black Crowes, Tom Petterson from Cheap Trick and even Hank Williams III and Tommy Ramone. For that fact alone this album is worth a listen.

Track List:
1. Nature Jams
2. Can You Canoe
3. Take A Hike
4. Well [Read more…]

Save Money With Coupons!

The following is a guest post by Outside the Box Mom:

questions about using coupons

Thanks to your comments on this series, we have some great questions to address…

Question:

I’m probably an casual couponer, if I accidentally come across a coupon for something I need, then I’ll use it.

Answer:

What is Casual Couponing?

I would say a casual couponer is someone who will use a coupon if they come across it, but don’t necessarily make a plan to find them. According to CommissaryDeals.com, casual couponers save 25-40% on their grocery shopping trips. Typically, when one first starts clipping coupons, he/she would just grab a few here and there from the Sunday Paper, using a few coupons per visit.

Are you a Casual Couponer?

  • Do you clip coupons for “items you buy” from one weekly newspaper and/or magazines?
  • Do you hunt for printable coupons once in a while for a hot sale or a need based purchase?
  • Do you typically save 15%, 25%, 40% or less off your grocery bill?

How Coupons Come to You

Many casual coupon users have trouble finding enough coupons to capitalize on good deals. Here are some ways coupons can come to you:

  • as you are walking through the grocery store, you may see “tear pad” coupons
  • as you are reading through magazines, you may see coupons inside
  • you may find coupons on products
  • someone may leave a coupon on top of the product you are getting ready to buy
  • if you purchase the required number of products in a store’s promotion and receive $ off today’s purchase (like Kroger $5 off [Read more…]
