5 Things On Every Moms Bucket List

Everyone has a bucket list don’t they? Things they want to try and achieve or do in their lifetime. It’s no surprise that some of these things will be repeated on many lists across our nation, even the world. We all strive to have experiences, make memories for our families and improve our lives. Being a Mom, I have my aspirations. Some of which I think will be on the majority of Moms bucket lists. Here are five of the things I think you will see every time:

To make some self-improvements
In one way or another, we would like to improve ourselves. This could be in a physical sense or your mental mindset. Some people want to enhance their physical appearance and may work towards cosmetic procedures. Others may look towards repairing things and making improvements that way. Perhaps laser eye surgery so they don’t have to wear glasses or contact lenses. Some may want to work on their teeth to improve their smile. Dentistry would be one of the most popular aspirations on many bucket lists. Especially now that I have a family and I want to capture the memories. Seeking advice from professionals like Tribula and McOmber would be recommended.

Lands End

Travel the world

It might be a real obvious one, but traveling will always sit high on a bucket list. Especially for me as I love to travel. There’s something about visiting new and exciting places. The perfect way to make the memories that last a lifetime. This could be as simple as visiting local places, or more extreme like swimming with dolphins or whale watching. The world is a big place and is just there waiting for us to go and explore it. Traveling with children can be hard, but so rewarding.

Live in another country

Some moms may take the travel element one step further and aspire to live in another country. They may want to experience a new work environment. Or have their children discover a new educational system. It could be to sample new lifestyles. Or even take the opportunity to improve their own. Whatever the reason may be living in another country will always appeal to many of us. It’s an exciting and nerve-wracking experience for anyone.

Career progression

If you are a working mom, then career progression may be a high priority for you. You may have that end goal of what you want to achieve before you leave the working world behind. You may have targets you want to hit. A pay rise to obtain. Whatever it is you want to achieve a career improvement will always sit on a Mom’s bucket list if they work. They may do it for themselves or just to support the family.

Lifestyle and home Life

Finally, the last thing you will see on many moms bucket list is a need to improve their lifestyle or home life. This could be anything from trying to find the right balance between work and home. It could be to increase fitness and health to feel better about themselves. It might be as simple as trying to be more organized to have a better home life experience. We as moms are always trying to make things better for ourselves. In any way we can.

Do you recognize some of these to be on your bucket list?

Colgate “My Bright Smile” app for kids

Disclaimer: This is a sponsored post. However, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

“My Bright Smile” helps parents and kids age 4-6 learn the importance of oral health. Not only does it teach children why they need to develop good brushing habits, but with five interactive games, plus word challenges and puzzles, the app makes learning fun. There is even a two-minute “Brushing Song” that helps children learn how long they should brush.

The app has been picking up awards, including a Mom’s Choice Award. And best of all, as part of the Colgate Bright Smiles, Bright Futures® program, it is 100% free to download from the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store.

What’s more, Colgate produced a series of videos to help spread the word. These videos show actual kids discovering the gamessharing what they’ve learned, and how we make brushing fun, and mornings easier.

All of which continues Colgate’s commitment to oral health education. The Bright Smiles, Bright Futures® program has been running for 25 years, reaching half a billion kids around the world. http://www.colgatebsbf.com

About Colgate Bright Smiles, Bright Futures®

The “My Bright Smile” app extends and builds upon the success of the Colgate Bright Smiles, Bright Futures® program. In the United States, the classroom curriculum reaches nearly 9 out of every 10 kindergarten students each year, 3.5 million children in all 50 states, and more than 750,000 kids through our partnership with the Office of Head Start.

Globally, Colgate Bright Smiles, Bright Futures® is among the most far-reaching, successful children’s oral health initiatives in the world, reaching children in 80 countries with free dental screenings and oral health education. Award Winning Curriculum

The cornerstone of Colgate Bright Smiles, Bright Futures® is its award-winning dental health education curriculum. Developed by global experts, Colgate’s multi-cultural materials help illustrate how to maintain healthy teeth and gums. Today, the educational curriculum has become a part of the permanent school curriculum.

Reaching Communities

In some countries, Colgate Bright Smiles, Bright Futures® is mobile. In the United States, Colgate’s fleet of mobile dental vans travel to rural and urban communities to provide free dental screenings and oral health education to children in need.

The importance of healthy kids goes without saying. Of course we want our kids to be healthy and happy. But something that often gets over looked? Dental health. And it is something that is just as important as a child’s overall health.
Knowledge and understanding is of course the first crucial step, but then what? Not everyone has kiddos who jump for joy when it is time to brush their teeth. Plus, if you have more than one, like we do, it can be either more of a challenge or possibly even easier if you can get them to do it together!
But if you are still finding it challenging to get those little ones to brush – there is help! We recently tried out the My Bright Smile App from Colgate! The app is designed for kids age 4-6, with games like “Visit the Dentist,” “Swipe the Sweets” and “Brush the Teeth.” There’s even a two-minute song that will help keep your kids brushing until every tooth is clean.

I must say, my kids really enjoyed the app. And as a mom, so did I. It was something new and exciting for them to do while brushing, which makes getting them in there and getting down to business much less of a hassle! Plus, you get the added benefit of not only learning together but playing together too!

Some of the things we learned while using the app:

  • Brush with fluoride toothpaste after breakfast and before bedtime

  • Floss every day

  • Visit your dentist regularly

  • Limit the number of times you eat sweet and sticky snacks

Aside from the obvious help this app gives us as parents, as part of the Colgate Bright Smiles, Bright Futures® program, it is 100% free to download from the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store.

So, what are you waiting for? If you need a little boost when it comes to getting your kids to brush, give it a try!

Metromile Car Insurance and WIN $100 gift card and goody bag

Here in New Jersey, we have one of the highest auto insurance rates in the country.  The main reason, population density and the proximity to New York City.  Oh, and the traffic.  It is everywhere, to the point where if it is between 3:00 and 7:00 pm, you have to tack on an extra half hour no matter where you are going (at least).  It also effects commuters to the point where public transportation is often the only way to get in and out of a particular city when trying to get there during work hours. I’m looking at you, Jersey City (and Hoboken, and New York….)  For this reason, my husband uses mass transportation every day.  In order to get to the train station, there is still a short car ride.  This car of course has to be insured, and is insured at the same rate as my car, which we use to take road trips, get to and from school, etc.  This doesn’t really make sense when you think about it.  But what is a responsible adult to do?  Until now, buy expensive insurance where we in essence help subsidize someone else car based commute every day.  Well, a new company called Metromile changes that.

Metromile is the only pay-per-mile auto insurance available in New Jersey it allows drivers to pay for the miles they actually drive without judgement on driving style or behavior.  Drivers pay a base rate per month then a few cents per mile based on actual miles driven.  The way this works is with a little device called, The Pulse, which plus into the OBII port in all/most cars and will track mileage, give you important car data including the health of the vehicle and its location.  That’s right- it can even be used to help find the car if has been stolen.  But the fun part is the app.  The app connects to The Plug and gives you some new insight into your vehicle, including trips & trends, miles, MPG, time, speed, fuel level, cost estimates, car location, even street sweeping alerts (this is only available in San Francisco, San Diego, Los Angeles and Chicago) and more.

mm_android_extended

This insurance works best for drivers who log under 10,000 miles a year on their vehicle and has been able to save some almost $500 a year.  So it is well worth getting a quote and finding out how much you could save as well.

One of you can win a Metromile gift bag (above) as well as a $100 gift card to use for gas.  Please feel free to enter using the RC form below.  Ends 3/25/16.  Good luck!
