Our dog Cooper is a bit of a bum. He likes to lounge around all day, all over the place. He’s not, however, a huge fan of lying of the floor- not his favorite. Big Apple Circus – Get Your Tickets Now!

We recently saw the Big Apple Circus, in Bridgewater, NJ for a limited time. My son loves the circus, and this one is big enough to have amazing acts, while being small enough that no seat is a bad seat (none are more then 50 feet from the ring) and you have a real “family feel” to the whole experience.
His favorites were the animal acts. He loved the horses and camels, joined by miniature ponies and alpacas. We took a quick Vine video if you want to check it out-
They did this cool thing with draped fabric to give it a “merry-go-round” feel as the animals pranced in a circle, which was very cool. If only we got more then 15 seconds of video, ha. He loved this act. He missed the dogs from last year, but that’s what keeps the circus fresh- new acts, right?
My husband loved the contortionists, 2 adult women were able to fit themselves into a small box- it was amazing! There were so many wild things that these people were able to do, it really was astounding. There was a family that is 9th generation circus performers who did several acts that were really something- each one different, and one act that they performed together. This is one show that is something that I would recommend to any family. The ticket prices are really reasonable, as are souvenir toys and the food and beverages- you won’t be gouged like you will at some places.

Fossil Fighters Frontier for Nintendo 3DS

We recently tested out a new game at the New York City Nintendo store called Fossil Fighters Frontier, for the Nintendo 3DS. At that time, the game was being demonstrated for kids 10 and up, since it has quite a bit of reading and bigger words. There are options for 3D and non 3D play, depending on the use of parental controls. You can use the Parental Controls to restrict 3D mode (always recommended for children 6 and under) for your child or yourself if you don’t like the way it looks or affects you.
You act as a paleontologist, excavating dinosaur bones, as well as battling your Vivosaur (dinosaur) with others that you encounter along the way.

We all know what morning are like on school days. Insane, rushing, forgetting something, and which one can’t find their shoe? No matter how far ahead you plan, how early you wake up- it’s always something.
My son moves so slow I swear he’s going backwards. It’s unbelievable- how hard is getting dressed and brushing your teeth? He kills me. I’m not a lollygagger, and I hate being late. He takes after my husband with the slow-slug behavior, and it’s not my favorite trait in them. If you are anything like me, you are always looking for anything that will make your mornings any easier.
My son often eats his breakfast in the car on the way to school. Yes, I know- I’m horrible. But he’s SO SLOW, we would never make school in time. Car Seat Installation Tips:
- It is important to follow the user manuals from both the child car seat manufacturer and the vehicle manufacturer in order to achieve a proper installation.
- Use a car seat that makes installation as simple as buckling a seat belt. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, three out of every four car seats are installed incorrectly. To address this concerning fact, the new ClickTight installation technology in Britax convertible car seats gives any caretaker the confidence to correctly and securely install these seats in just a few easy steps.
- The safest place for your child in any vehicle is in the back seat. The center of the rear seat is preferable to outboard (window) positions — as long as you can achieve a tight installation — because it is the farthest from a side impact. Research has shown that children under the age of 3 have a 43 percent lower risk of injury when restrained in the center of the rear seat compared with the rear outboard positions. However, keep in mind that if you’re not able to install your car seat in the center position, a properly installed car seat in an outboard position will still provide excellent protection for your child during a crash.
- Tips to avoid loose car seat installation:
- After installation, grasp the seat near the belt path to check for excessive movement, which is movement of more than one inch side-to-side or front-to-back at the belt path.
- If you have trouble installing your car seat securely, try the following:
- Install the car seat in another seating position in your vehicle. For example, if you can’t install it securely in the rear center seat, try an outboard position.
- Install the car seat using another installation method. For example, if you’re not able to get a secure installation using the LATCH system, try to install with the vehicle seat belt and tether.
- The process of seating and removing your child along with the motion from your vehicle moving can shake your child seat loose over time. This makes it critical to check the fit often and reinstall your child seat periodically.
- Using a technology like ClickTight, which uses seat belts for installation, also eliminates any parental worry about the 65-pound LATCH capacity and when to switch a growing child away from it.
