7th Generation review and GIVEAWAY!!!

I love this time of year, don’t you? The weather is perfect, you don’t need a coat yet, the leaves are changing colors…The only thing that really is NOT cool is that it is the start of cold and flu season. But I have the coolest products to share with you! Seventh Generation, makers of great natural cleaning products, has generously provided Have Sippy Will Travel with some really great products to try out!

These Green Cleaning Products are fab, you will love them. I brought some with me to the Preschool, and love that the kids can have snack RIGHT AFTER I clean off the table from project time. I hate the bleach-y products I normally have to use. They smell, they ruin clothes, and I don’t like the kids anywhere near them. But, the boss insists, so….but she was cool with my using the Seventh Generation Disinfecting Multi-Surface. YAY! We also used the disinfecting wipes pretty much everywhere….kids are germy little buggars, LOL. No awful smell, and I think it’s safer for the kids. You know I’d never let Little Man or Kamikaze eat on a just-bleached table! (I keep a special place mat for Little at school- NO WAY is he eating at those tables if they were just bleached!) No, that is not his place mat- that is the safely cleaned table, he doesn’t need it!

So, you know how much I love companies that care? Look at their Mission Statement- “In our every deliberation, we must consider the impact of our decisions on the next seven generations.”
The Great Law of the Iroquois gave Seventh Generation their name more than twenty years ago and it’s what continues to inspire them every single day. Well, not only does Seventh Generation clearly care about the environment, but they also have some really great projects they support, like this one- WAGES

“For more than 14 years, Women’s Action to Gain Economic Security (WAGES) has been building worker-owned, cooperatively-owned, eco-friendly, residential cleaning businesses in San Francisco, California. In 2009, WAGES and Seventh Generation together launched Home Green Home, WAGES’ 4th worker-owned cooperative. This unique social enterprise, serves the city of San Francisco, [Read more…]

Halloween Safety

Ok, Bloggy Buddies!  It’s that time again…and as a teacher, I feel like I really need to stress SAFETY for Halloween!  Please remember to share safety tips with your kids! The more often you go over these tips, the better chance your little one will have of remembering them.

Here are my top 10 Safety Tips
1- Stay with Mommy, Daddy, or the Grown-up in charge at all times
2- Keep away from Jack-o-Lanterns- those poofy princess dresses and fluttering superhero capes can catch the candle’s fire!
3- Have your child walk around the block in his/her mask.  Can they see?  Breathe well?  If not, perhaps try face paint instead.
4- STRANGER DANGER!!! Remind your child never, ever to go into a stranger’s house for candy, or into a car with anyone you didn’t expressly allow.
5- Can cars see your sweetie?  Put reflective tape on their costume, or add a glowing bracelet or necklace.  A grown-up can carry flashlights.
6- Let mom or dad check your candy BEFORE you eat it!
7- Is the costume to long?  Make sure your little ones won’t trip on their costume all night long- take a trial walk around the block.
8- Only trick-or-treat at homes with lights on.  This is for safety- no one wants to trip!  as well as to keep from bothering those who do not wish to celebrate Halloween.
9- Check your decorations- wires are not fraying?  Sockets are not overloaded?  Don’t string together too many lights per outlet.  No one wants a fire!
10- Follow all traffic laws, like crossing at cross walks, and looking both ways to cross the street.  Set a trick or treat course- this way you will all know where you are going to be, and when it is time to go home, there will be less arguing from the troops!
