Zoey's Attic

Who doesn’t love finding personalized items for your child or that special person in their life? I was lucky enough to be able to work with Zoey’s Attic on an awesome Sibling Shirt Set.

About Zoey’s Attic:

Zoey’s Attic officially launched in November 2006 by creator and owner , Erin Delanty. She got the inspiration shortly after having her first child. She had the problem finding out of the ordinary newborn baby tees as well as had friends that were having a hard time finding unique big brother/big sister gear.

Erin has a background as a graphic designer, as well as a web developer. She decided to use that background to design her own line of products.

The initial idea of the store was to create a web-based shop where new parents and parents-to-be could involve all members of the family in exciting “baby news” by offering a variety of pregnancy or baby announcements and hard-to-find big brother/sister tees.

They now offer many products that the whole family can share in.

Turning Your Day Upside Down at WonderWorks #Florida #Travel

wonderworksLet your imagination run wild at WonderWorks, where there is something fun to do for any stage and any age. With over 100 hands on exhibits and attractions, you and your family will never be bored. This unique building is built to appear as though it is upside down, which has been an endless topic of conversation for my son. He was really confused, then intrigued by that. Inside, the walls appear to be broken and falling down around you, lighting is odd, and the whole building looks damaged as if by some tornado. Very interesting!

05 30 12 169One of the first things you may do when you get inside is take a spin in the “inversion tunnel” so that, once on the other side, you can spend time playing in this “upside down” building without landing on your head. (Note- while the floor doesn’t really move, it FEELS like it does- and is in fact very dizzying, lol.)

You can feel what a 5.3 earthquake feels [Read more…]

With a 3 year old and a 1 year old, I find myself always trying to find the perfect items for them to play with, and most importantly not bring more “junk” into my house. Wouldn’t it be nice if someone would just send you the perfect items right to your house? Well guess what? I have found that perfect company. Little Pnuts is just that.

About Little Pnuts:

Melissa realized that there was a real need for high quality, all natural, non-battery operated toys. When her children were young she started researching and trying to find toys that would work and be great for her kids. She realized that the American toy market could not provide her with what she was looking for, attractive toys that would enhance every sensorial perspective toys that would provide challenges, toys that would engage while providing a sense of accomplishment. These toys needed to enhance gross and fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination and help develop the focus and concentration.

Melissa then decided to turn to the European market and after a great deal of research, found exactly what she was looking for. Unfortunately, at the time, these toys were not easily accessible in the US, but she had family there that was more than happy to send them to her.

Beginning in 2012, Melissa decided it was time to combine her former skills and her newfound admiration for high quality educational toys to develop a company that would bring these toys to families in the US.

How to Help Kids Adjust to a New Neighborhood When You Move

Whether your kids are young or old (or they span a wide age range) you’re bound to face some issues when it comes to uprooting them. Forcing them to move away from the family, friends, and home they’ve always known, taking them out of the schools and other locales they’re familiar with, and plopping them down in a foreign place where they don’t know their way around and they have no friends is bound to raise their ire. And you’ll have to help them deal with a slew of negative emotions, possibly including anger, frustration, depression, helplessness, sadness, and fear. They may experience some or all of these, but mostly they’ll probably be confused about how to feel. As a parent you face the unfortunate prospect of watching your kids suffer for your decisions. But you’re not without means of helping them through this difficult process. There are several steps you can take to make the move easier on your kids so they can more quickly adjust to their new surroundings.

The first thing you’ll probably want to do is prepare your kids for what’s to come, and this entails having a family meeting before you move to talk through the process. When children know what to expect they can temper their fears and anxieties. This will also give them a chance to discuss their [Read more…]

As you probably remember, I was lucky enough to be able to be a part of the Swimways Swim Step Program for the summer. I wanted to share a few things with you as the official start of summer was just upon us.

As we just finished up with Memorial Day weekend and have really gotten our summer plans into full swing, we wanted to make sure that water safety is remaining in the minds of families as they head to the lake, pool, and barbecues. I would also like to share with you the products that help support each step of the Swim Steps program.

Drive It Home – Teen Safety #DriveitHome #CGC

Drive It Home is an initiative of the National Safety Council. The initiative focuses on new teen drivers and some possible dangers which parents and teens are probably not aware of, but could save a life. Speaking of which, did you know that vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death for US teenagers?

Drive it HomeThe way the Drive It Home show presented the data was not only through hard facts but also through humor from the funny folks at Second City. They put on a faux Dr. Phil show which revolved around parents being more involved, responsible, and active parents. But also teen drivers should be aware of the road and their surrounds while also bringing in mind they are not masters of the road so they should be active learners.

Drive it HomeThe second main portion of the presentation involved a woman who lost her daughter. Her daughter was a passenger in a vehicle during a crash. The number of teens in the car at the time of the accident was three. The next valuable piece of information given out was the more teens in the car the chance of getting into a crash increases- With each additional passenger in a new teen driver’s car, the chance of a crash goes up 50%. For adults it is the opposite, each adult acting as another pair of eyes on the road around them, possibly catching [Read more…]
