A Lucky Horse Shoe Wall Art- Review and Giveaway

OK, the first thing I have to say is WOW- this company was started by a 14 year old girl who wanted to help out and save money for college, as well.
I think you know that we just re-did Little Man’s room, and the theme is Wild Animals/Jungle.  He SO loves that Safari Bed, lol.  When we saw the Cute Monkey and Bird decal, I knew it was just perfect for his room!
We put it over the spot reserved for his Toy Box, the one thing we still need for his room.
How adorable is it?

It goes so well with the rest of the room, and it retails for only $16.00!
Here is a bit more info on the Decals- (by the way, they sent us a few little brown birds, and a butterfly as a fun surprise!)

1. Where are you from and can you tell us a little about yourself?
I’m from WA and I’m a horse person. I own a morgan mare and I love to do horse shows!

2. When did you start making the items in your shop?
I started my shop in Nov. of 2009

3. How did you decide the name for your shop?
I always wanted to name my own barn A Lucky Horseshoe but, this is the closest I could get.

4. What is your favorite thing about owning your shop and being a seller?
My favorite thing about owning my shop is the feeling of getting a gift when I get a order.

5. What inspires you to create such beautiful pieces?
We make things that brings a smile to our face!

6. What is your favorite item in your shop and why?
The ‘Eat My Dust DUDE’ barrel racer decal because it makes me smile and I think its true.

7. Is there anything new you plan to add to your shop?
I have no idea, usually things just pop in my head and I put it in my shop.

8. Anything else you would like to let us know?
This was my 1st internet store and now we have 4, the more the merrier!

Who doesn’t love the Disney Store? I know my Little Man goes bonkers every time we set foot in one.   We love all things Disney here (and I know you all know how much he loves “Cars”, Micky Mouse, and Flounder,  lol)

Getting a Workout through Everyday Chores
**This guest post was written by Hapari Swimwear. A fun loving, hard working business striving to bring the best swimwear in the world to women every where!**
Everyone wants to be healthier. Finding time to go to the gym can be difficult though, especially if you have other errands and chores you need to get done. Many people buy a gym membership on New Years, but by the time February has rolled around, they have already forgotten about it. Many people bought Wii Fits only to find out that other things began taking priority. If this sounds familiar, it might be time for a lifestyle change.
You don’t need to necessarily find time to go to the gym, but if you turn your everyday routines into a workout, you will have a better chance at seeing some results. Here are some things you can do to feel the burn while taking care of your daily tasks.
  1. Laundry – Turn regular laundry into a workout when you incorporate squats. Rather than dumping your entire basket into the top at once, do a squat to grab one piece of laundry at a time from your basket on the floor. If you have twenty or so pieces of laundry, you can build up your leg muscles in no time.
  2. Kitchen floors – It’s tempting to pull out the Swiffer mop, but resist the urge. Get down on your hands and knees for a better workout and a cleaner floor. Cleaning your floor by hand can burn 400 calories, and while you’re at it, you can do some stretches.
  3. Vacuuming – Do lunges while vacuuming your carpet. Each time you pull back to go over an area for the second time, switch legs so that you get an equal workout. These lunges are also a good idea while you are sweeping or raking leaves. Vacuuming can burn around 480 calories for the average woman, so make those minutes count.
  4. Grocery shopping – Speed walk down the grocery store aisles. Not only will this save you time in the store, but you can get in a little cardio exercise. Just make sure you check around corners before you barrel your way around them, since you could create a traffic accident if you aren’t careful. When you are putting the groceries away, do a squat to reach from the bag on the floor to the counter above you.
  5. Rearrange furniture – Whether you move the furniture to vacuum under it or you simply want a new look, rearranging furniture can give you the weights exercise you need. Make sure you have good form before pushing the couch out of the way, but don’t feel like you need to call for backup whenever you get the urge to change up the decor.
  6. Stairs – Whenever you need to go upstairs (or downstairs) take the stairs twice. Try running up and down them if you don’t want to take the extra time but you want to get in the workout.
It’s hard to find time to go to the gym, but you can burn quite a few calories simply by doing your everyday chores differently. If you make excuses to lift more and move more, you’ll be on the right track toward a healthier lifestyle.

Win a Dinosaur Train with Buddy Train Car

“Dinosaur Train” will celebrate America’s love of trains with special programming and activities throughout the month of May. To kick off, the award-winning and critically acclaimed animated preschool series from The Jim Henson Company, will debut an all new episode on May 6 on PBS KIDS (please check local listings). Additionally, special train-themed activities and events will be featured in partnership with local PBS stations and on the series’ website.

Celebrating National Train Day, which takes place on May 7th, the new episode includes two 11-minute animated segments with live-action sequences featuring a paleontologist who brings to life the show’s natural science and natural history curriculum for preschoolers.  In “Junior Conductor Jamboree,” Buddy and his family ride the Dinosaur Train from one end of the line to the other and visit all three time periods–from the Cretaceous, through the Jurassic, to the Triassic. In “Troodon Train Day,” the Pteranodon family rides to Troodon Town to celebrate Troodon Train Day, where the main event is a concert by King Cryolophosaurus, giving his first performance in years!

Select PBS Stations across the U.S. will also be hosting train-themed events throughout the month. Participating stations include PBS SoCal, Los Angeles; WXXI, Rochester, New York; WJCT, Jacksonville, Florida; Houston PBS; KERA, Dallas, Texas; UNCTV, North Carolina state network; WHYY, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; AETN, Arkansas Educational Television Network; Vegas PBS, Las Vegas, Nevada; and WOSU, Columbus, Ohio.  Activities may include Dinosaur Train screenings, Buddy costume character appearances, Buddy standees for photo opportunities, and hands-on educational activities.

In addition to the television series, there is also a “Dinosaur Train” interactive website at  PBSKIDS.org/dinosaurtrain. Children can join Buddy, Tiny and all their friends as they discover natural history and the science of paleontology through fun games and activities. During the month of May, the website will celebrate trains with a special themed homepage and new fun printable activities. You know how I love PBS!  And Dinosaur Train is a really cute cartoon that the kids love.  During Dinosaur week, we even watched it a bit at the Pre-K. Dinosaur Train is an award-winning and critically acclaimed preschool series from The Jim Henson Company shown on PBS Kids.

The kiddos loved the new episodes “Junior Conductor Jamboree” and “Troodon Train Day”.  And since it is National Train Day earlier this week (the 7th) and I’m running LOTS of train-themed giveaways right now, what better way to get over your mid-week slump then with Dinosaur Train?

According to the Association of American Publishers, research indicates that early language experience actually stimulates a child’s brain to grow and that reading to children gives them a huge advantage when they start school. To that end, the members of the association hope to encourage people of all ages to enjoy books and magazines and to share that pleasure with the young children in their lives. Get Caught Reading Month has been supported in the past by such well-known figures as former First Lady Laura Bush, Drew Carey, Whoopi Goldberg, Derek Jeter, Vernon Jordan, Jake Lloyd, Rosie O’Donnell, Dolly Parton, Jane Seymour, Sammy Sosa, Erik Weihenmayer, and Robin Williams, all of whom have been “caught reading” their favorite books and magazines for print ads and posters seen by millions of people across the country.
