I was given the pleasure of trying some new breath cleaning products made by Therabreath and Dr.Harold Katz. Dr Katz is the founder of “The California Breath Clinics”, and he has been on television shows like “The View” and “CBS Early Show” and has helped millions in his quest to vanquish bad breath.
The products I was given to try are Therabreath toothpaste, Therabreath oral rinse and the Therabreath mouth wetting lozenges. The toothpaste. Right off the bat, without even opening it up, take a look at the ingredients- you do want to know what you put in your mouth, don’t you? Well, most of the ingredients in Therabreath toothpaste are natural ingredients. Yay! Also, the packaging itself is “green”, both in the colors (green, orange, and white) but it is also environmentally kind. And it is even Kosher and safe for diabetics. Now, onto the important part- the taste and texture. No problems there! The taste is minty and fresh without any strange aftertastes or chemically enhanced “freshness”, natural mint, very nice. The texture is also good to the point where, when finished brushing, my teeth feel clean and smooth.
The oral rinse is meant to be used after the toothpaste. The rinse has the ingredient: OXYD-8, which is an oxidizer and destroys odor causing bacteria. The longer you swish it around, the better a job the rinse will do at getting all the little buggers before they give you bad breath. Doctor Katz suggests swishing and gargling for 30 seconds then spitting and gargling for another 45 seconds. Something to take note of is the lack of alcohol or chloride in both the toothpaste and the oral rinse. Alcohol [Read more…]

Jumbies- Review and Contest
We recently received 2 Jumbies to review, Tyramasaurus and Zelephant. Jumbies are animals that were involved in a mix up by some very busy and disheveled storks. Now that these Jumbies are here- they need homes! Does anyone have a home for a cute little Jumbie or two?
My Little Man really enjoys these. They have been compared to Beanie Babies- but they don’t really seem like Beanie Babies to me. I think Jumbies are their own thing. They are cute, palm-sized toys, and they are collectible, but that is where it ends. They are also interesting, because they are all “jumbled up”. And what kid doesn’t love a silly toy?
One lucky reader will win 2 Jumbies to add to or start a collection.

ecomom Review and Contest!
Sweet dreams! So, since we have already talked about fabulous beds, bedding, books, and stuffed animals, I feel like we are still missing something….AH! I know. A very important part of the bedtime routine! Bathtime! Who wants to go to bed dirty? Not I! (And not my Little Man, haha.)
Little Man helping me get the tub ready for his bath! |
I really like ecomom. It’s a really great place to find all sorts of organic, natural, safe for mom and baby products. They have art products, books, toys, music, food, bath, beauty, home- just about everything you could want or need.
ecomom really stands behind it’s products, and has great integrity. They really care about their products, their clients, and the world. ecomom has a charity that they partner with, Healthy Child Healthy World, that promotes healthy and safe living, prevents harm, from chemicals and toxins, and helps parents help their children have the healthiest and happiest life.
“ecomom is about bridging the gap between making healthy choices and making easy choices. We created ecomom because we care and are concerned for babies and their moms, our families and our communities. We want every mom to be an ecomom because being an ecomom means making choices that are good for all of us, and the planet which we all share.”
ecomom also has really great “ecomom approved” icons to help you quickly and easily view and figure out what you and your family will want, and how the product was made, as well as what it does (or doesn’t!) contain.
Of course, all the products they carry are “ecomom approved”, but the icons make it easy to see why. For example, was it recycled? Is it organic? Sustainable? Fair Trade? Just look at the icons, and it’s easy to see.
To help get my Little Man ready for bed, ecomom thought that the Episencial Sweet Dreams Bubble Bath would be a perfect fit! Made with organic lavender oil, it is sure to help him get a good night’s rest. A fun way to end the day. This bubble bath is also good for the planet, and of course good for your little one. Some of the ways that it is ecomom approved include cruelty free, toxin free, organic, and fair trade. Gotta love those icons!
We also received “The Prince’s Bedtime” one of the great books that ecomom carries. This story was about a little price who just couldn’t get to sleep- and the kingdom tried everything! Well, almost…
ecomom carries some fun and unique books, that will enrich your child and invite them into a whole wide world that we are not exposed to on a regular basis, and into cultures and events that we don’t know. Get your child curious about the world around them- and beyond!
ecomom has graciously offered one of Have Sippy Will Travel’s readers a 15$ gift certificate to their store. If you want it to be you, here is how to enter!

Win Scrabble Flash!
Today I have a really fun contest for you- the new Scrabble Flash from Hasbro! The first person I thought of when I got this game was my grandma. She LOVES Scrabble! It is one of her favorite games of all times, and she plays regularly. I called her to tell her that I had a new kind of Scrabble for her called Scrabble Flash, where you use interactive SmartLink tiles to build your words, she got really excited. I had planned to bring the game over the next night so she could play it with the kids, and I was going to leave it with her so she could keep it for her next game night. She plays all the time with my aunts and her friends. However, that flood I have been posting about got in the way of my plans. We are still stuck at home, but at least the waters are receding! 🙂 We have not played it with her yet, but because the contest will need to end soon, I want to post this as soon as possible. I also got to see this game in action at the NY Toy Fair Hasbro event, and I know many of you checked out my photostream and videos.
I am so excited to get this to my grandma. I will post photos as soon as we can get it to her. So for now, here is some more information about Scrabble Flash!
“It’s up to you to find words in a “flash” with this fun, electronic version of the classic SCRABBLE game! Use the interactive SmartLink tiles to build your words and they’ll flash and beep with each word you make! They’ll also automatically time your turns and display your score with the maximum possible score. Put your skills to the test with three different solo and competitive games and slide, swap and shuffle your way to a win. It’s fast-paced, addictive, word-building fun!
Includes 5 SmartLink letter tiles, storage box and rules.
Includes 5 “button cell” batteries. For 1 or more players.
Ages 8 and up. “
These tiles are so great for kids as well as adults. They can help the younger ones learn to spell, and the older ones practice their spelling, vocabulary, and sharpen their mental skills.
Plus, Scrabble has a championship coming up!
Do you know any superstar Scrabble players in grades 5-8? If the answer is yes, now’s the time for them to register for the 2011 National School Scrabble Championship! Teams of two students can register to compete in this year’s competition, which will take place April 15-16 at the Royal Pacific Resort in Orlando, FL. Visit http://www.scrabble-assoc.com to register now. Not familiar with our School Scrabble program?
Check out this video from the 2009 Championship.
AND, there is a new Facebook page out there dedicated ONLY to all things Scrabble related! Of course, the new Scrabble Flash, classic Scrabble, Scrabble Jr, Scrabble Slam- if you are a Scrabble fan, you found your new favorite page! You can find daily word challenges, words of the day, coupon offers, Scrabble news and tips, online gaming, and School Scrabble information on the new Scrabble Facebook page!
Here are some other great ways to connect with Hasbro, and lots of fun games!

Barefoot Books- review and contest for you!
I love books- can you tell? 🙂
And I truly, truly wish I had found this company much earlier then now. Have you ever heard of Barefoot Books? If you haven’t- I’m going to tell you all about them right now! (And if you have, but have never purchased a book from them- I hope you will pick one up soon!)
Barefoot Books is an independent publishing company that devotes itself to cultural and environmental education and awareness. Started by two moms (Yay for Mom-Based-Businesses!) who wanted their kids to grow up reading books that let them explore, imagine, ad learn while becoming respectful of the planet and the diversity the world has to offer. Barefoot Books has writers and storytellers from all over the world that write these books to help shape our children into global citizens who care about the planet and people around them. (Um hello- where was I? Under a rock? How could I not have, like, the entire collection by now? These are perfect for not only my kids, but my classroom!)
These books have led to such great conversations, and even into lesson plans. While reading “We’re Riding on a Caravan“, the kids learned about ancient travel and how things were transported from one place to another before modern conveniences. We added geography, map skills, and a little history lesson about Central Asia and China, and where silk came from. We talked about China and emperors, and worked this into our “Chinese New Year” theme. Bringing out some Chinese character stamps for the animals representing one’s birth year, a map of ancient China, and paintbrushes and ink to make our own characters- we had lots of Chinese activity and lessons that week. We even played a game that is a re-creation of one from ancient China. We also discussed some of the countries surrounding China and that the caravan traveled through. We built a tiny “yurt”, talked about warrior horsemen, and of course, play-dough “terra cotta soldiers”.
That was all from ONE BOOK! We built a week of fun and activities out of that one book. By the way, these books are BEAUTIFUL! You will love them- the artwork is lovely. AND??? They care, a company that cares! Second YAY! 🙂 They plant a tree for every book purchased, and they are going green with their publishing!
An Adventure on the Silk Road
Written By: Laurie Krebs
Illustrated By: Helen Cann
We also received Kangaroos Have Joeys . The book is again, just beautiful, and Little Man loves that he can “read” it to me. (Really, with me, LOL.) It is a sturdy board book, and it teaches children the names of baby animals.
Written By: Stella Blackstone
Illustrated By: Philippa-Alys Browne
I highly, highly recommend Barefoot Books.
