Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Toys

mighty morphin toys

My son loves Power Ranger Toys.  He is a little young for the TV show, being only 6, but he loves the toys and games and playing with them with his friends. My little brother used to love this show as a kid- I remember that going to get one of these toys during a “holiday craze” was my first experience of adults acting like lunatics during the holidays.  I rode my bike to the local Toys R Us, and waited in a long, long line one cold morning to get him the red and blue rangers.  I was so shocked when the doors opened and people were trampling each other to grab one, I almost forgot to go get some myself!  (And yes, mission successful!  LOL)

This year, the Power Rangers celebrate 20 years of teamwork, action, adventure and entertaining children and the newest season of Power Rangers Megaforce, airing Saturdays on Nickelodeon, is currently the #1 kids’ action series. Since its inception in 1993 with the iconic Mighty Morphin Power Rangers series, the brand has been recognized throughout the world for its exciting and humorous adventures that include ordinary teenagers who “morph” into superheroes and call upon their robotic Zords and Megazords in their fight against evil.  Now in its 20th season, Saban Brands is marking this anniversary with the launch of a Power Rangers Megaforce all-new live action TV series, which will air on Nickelodeon and will feature new Rangers, Zords, Megazords, villains, explosions, special Power Cards, and the comeback of many historic Rangers for the ultimate battle to save the world.

London with Kids on a Rainy Day: What to Do

You are in London with your kids, planning to visit the city in a balmy sunshine and then starts the outpour. What a huge turn-off it can be. You had planned to stroll down the famous parks of the city, taking lunch in some of the most famous restaurants of the city and hunted down London Zoo to delight the kids. However, now here you are sitting in your hotel room with your kids constantly nagging you and you waiting for the rain gods to shower some mercy. Sounds gloomy, doesn’t it?

Therefore, it is recommended you make a plan B to counter such unfriendly conditions. Here is the list of things which you can do with kids on a rainy day in London.

A Visit to London Museum

London is saturated with plenty of museums with most of them providing free access to visitors. As you have kids with you, the best museum to venture into would be The Natural History Museum and The Science Museum.

The Natural History Museum is one of the biggest museums in the city. Your kids will have the opportunity of meeting life-sized whales and a giant T-Rex. Highlights of this museum include Dinosaurs gallery, Mammals with an impressive model blue whale and the spectacular Central Hall, home to the Museum’s iconic Diplodocus skeleton. While you are at this museum, do not forget to pay a visit to Cocoon where you will have the opportunity of seeing alluring specimens of plants and animals.

Top 5 Attractions in Toronto with Kids

Once Winter has rolled around, there are fewer places on earth better than Toronto for getting your family into the holiday spirit. Every year, there are multiple seasonal events that are fantastic fun for kids and a darn good time for grown-ups too. Here are five of the best.

Toronto Christmas parade in 2008.

Holiday Parades
Every year, the Greater Toronto Area holds weekly Santa and Christmas-themed parades that are pure joy for little ones, featuring as they do, lights, music, floats, marching bands and a host of colorful characters—including the guest of honor, Santa Claus. The parades and events take place in 23 different locales, every Saturday, in and around Toronto, throughout November and into early December. The event not to be missed in 2013 is happening at The Junction Train Platform on December 7th between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Arrive early to meet Santa and his elves, enjoy story-time with Mrs. Claus and spend the rest of your day indulging in gift-shopping, craft workshops, or perhaps watching some seasonal dancing.

Cavalcade of Lights
The lighting of the tree in Nathan Phillips Square has been dazzling families for almost half a century now. These days, the focus isn’t only on the holiday tree though, thanks to the spectacular fireworks display, wide variety of family-friendly live music and ice skating rink dance party that all come with the event. A celebration of this magnitude may be a little overwhelming for younger children, but your pre-teens will be in heaven. In 2013, the Cavalcade of Lights is happening on November 30th, starting at 7 p.m.

Games are a big part of our lives in this household. My girls, as well as my husband and myself love to play games. We could play games anytime. I am a huge fan of the Cooperative Games that Peaceable Kingdom has to offer. They are a great concept, as well as the fact that they teach your children many great skills.

About Peaceable Kingdom:

Since 1983, Peaceable Kingdom has been creating fresh, fun products that educate, stimulate, and inspire. The company originally began with a single product, and now they are an industry leader in stickers, greeting cards, and cooperative games.

The mission of Peaceable Kingdom is to: Make good, do good, be good!

They know the vital importance of happy relationships with your children, which is why all of their products help you connect with the kids in your life.

About the products I received:

Hoot Owl Hoot! Cooperative Board Game:

In this awesome game, you have to move all the owls from start to the nest before the sun rises. This game can be played with 2-4 players. Each of the players take turns, but they are all working together. At the start of the game, you place the sun token in the first space on the sun track and place 3 owls on the start spaces. Give 3 cards to each of the players. All of the players keep their cards face up in front of them so that they can work together to strategize how to move. This game can become more challenging by adding up to 6 tokens in the game. Because Hoot Owl Hoot! is a cooperative game players play any of the owls – no one player has a single owl , she is trying to get back to the nest.

Elf Magic- Fun Holiday Traditions

My son loves his Elf Magic Elf, Burke.  Burke was hard to get back to Santa last year, and my little dude was NOT a happy camper.  He made an early return this year, with my son finding him inside of his Trick or Treat pumpkin.

Burke, like us, likes to travel. When we sent our letter to Santa last year, we let him know how much we move around, and asked him to send an elf that would like to see the world as well.  We can’t have an elf that gets car-sick or won’t get on an airplane now, can we?  LOL.  Burke, luckily, is a hardy elf, and enjoys all the new places and spaces we tote him to.

With Burke in Philly

Last year he joined us for many trips and daily outings, even really exciting things like the supermarket.  I know.  Mind. Blown. Try to contain yourself.  You are a grown up, act like it.

My son was so taken with his Elf Magic elf that he even took him to our Christmas photo session last year.  Yes, that’s us, and Burke.  I’m not telling my then-5-year-old that the elf isn’t part of the family, that’s just mean.

Hot Holiday Toys

With Christmas right around the corner, most of us are looking for the most fun toys to get for that special child in our life.  Here are a few of  our current favorites, and what your child would love to find under the tree this year.

new elmo

Big Hugs Elmo- this guy might be “The” hot toy of the year.  If you have a little one, Big Hugs Elmo is sure to please.  He is large (about the size of a one year old) and a whole lot of playful fun. Elmo loves getting and giving hugs, and will often ask for a bigger or tighter squeeze from your little cuddle bug. Elmo also asks to play ponies, jump like froggies, (and will comment along with appropriate noises) and dance, sing, nap, and more.  He raises his arms up and down, hugs back, and sings bedtime songs and snores when laid on his back.  You can find Big Hugs Elmo at http://www.toysrus.com or in physical stores near you for about $50- and if you want this toy, I think it will go fast, so get yours early.

If you are in the mood for Elmo, also take a look at Playskool Sesame Street Lullaby & Good Night Elmo by Hasbro.  This little guy is ready for bed, in his Dorothy the goldfish pajamas, and all set to comfort your peanut as he or she drifts off into dreamland.  Kids can snuggle up with Elmo and press Elmo’s tummy to hear a lullaby or one of a few bedtime phrases.  Take note that there is no “off” button, so the button may be pressed accidentally if your child is a restless sleeper.  Available at stores like Koh’ls or at http://www.hasbro.com for roughly $15.

Sesame Place Very Furry Christmas

Sesame Place is all decked out for Christmas, and it’s a lot of fun for the kids.  Christmas themed Sesame Place transforms the theme park in Pennsylvania  from the summer amusement park destination for kids of all ages to a holiday wonderland of Sesame Street proportions.

sesame place
The Very Furry Christmas starts with an already cool park (but now without water rides), then adds characters all dressed up for their holiday greeting cards, and special holiday themed rides, decorations, and attractions.  My son loved the Sesame Place Furry Express Train, which was a cute ride through Christmas trees and cookies and goodies.

There is also a Christmas Light Display  Holiday Light Spectacular, Christmas Storytime with Zoe in Mr. Hooper’s Emporium, and Santa’s Furry Workshop at Trader Bert’s.  There are also 5 holiday shows to see during your visit if you and your kids like live performances.   The real gems of the Furry Christmas are the shows. Each is now holiday themed and the kids will love it. The shows run throughout the day and aren’t to be missed.
