The Lorax- Now on DVD

The Lorax is a heart warming story by Dr. Seuss. In true Dr. Seuss fashion, the story is full of colorful creatures and characters- but this is not the best part of a Dr. Seuss story. The best part is always the ability to weave these incredible fanciful locations and ideas with more domestic thoughts and ideas. The theme of the Lorax is environmental protection.

The story follows Ted on his adventures to win over his girl, in the process of winning her over he meets the Lorax [Read more…]

The Oogieloves in The BIG Balloon Adventure Coming to Theaters August 29th

My Little Man is so super excited for this movie- we got to check out and learn about the Oogieloves at a party about 2 weeks ago, and he had a whole lot of fun playing at Chelsea Piers and hearing all about this new movie. He says the movie will have “giant stuffed people”- so I guess that makes the main characters about as much fun as stuffed animals, haha.
Grab the kids for a visit to LovelyLoveville and join the Oogieloves on their journey to Schluufy’s surprise birthday party! All your favorite characters will be there from Goobie, Zooie and Toofie to J. Edgar, Windy Window and Ruffy. Nelly and Cesear Kids DVD Review and Giveaway

In nature, there are a lot of cute little creatures in all shapes and sizes. From little mice, who are cute as long as they are in a cage and not running around a kitchen or across Grandma’s foot (LOL) during Christmas dinner to a slippery frog hopping about the garden munching flies. A frog and a mouse are the stars of a new Kids Collection from Organa Kids called Nelly and Caesar. This collection comes to us from France in a neat mix of 2D and 3D animation. Some is CGI and some is hand drawn, at least that’s what it looks like to me. The effect is a whimsical look which is distinct and special. To the dads out there it looks a bit like a high quality RPG. You expect to grab a controller and start [Read more…]

Hop Screening

Tis the season for bunnies, chicks, eggs and of course Hopping.
In the spirit of the Easter season, we recently held a Hop screening in our living room, complete with party favors and loads of fun.

We had some of the neighborhood kids come by and watch the movie Hop, starring Russell Brand as E.B. EB is the star of the movie he is the nephew of the Easter Bunny and a bit of a rebel who leaves home to become a drummer in a rock n roll band in LA.

In the process of leaving home, EB meets (or rather gets hit by) Fred, who is a very unmotivated individual. The story is easy for kids to follow and is fun. For adults, it is something that has been done before, to a degree. This movie reminds me of The Santa Clause, in that it deals with a heavily religious holiday without being religious, taking a more light hearted feel to the holiday. This is quite the compliment considering EB is actually an animated character. Tim Allen in Santa Clause [Read more…]

Everything You Need to Have Movie Night at Home

Your family loves nothing more than a night at the movies. But rising gas costs, escalated theater ticket
and concessions prices, and annoying audience members playing with their smartphones have made
going out to the movies a less than appealing experience. Well not to worry, you can recreate a night at the
movies at home, with even better results. You get to pick the movies and the screening times, and with the
incredible improvements in audio-visual technology, the viewing experience can be just as spectacular as
at your local theater. And with the added bonus of no sticky floors. Here’s a look at everything you’ll need
to have a family movie night from the comfort of your very own living room.

Pick the movies. If time is tight, you can certainly watch a single film and be satisfied. But a movie
marathon is a great idea if you can extend the experience. Think about going with a theme, like
all comedies or all love stories, or even watch a series of films in one sitting, like “The Lord of the
Rings”, “Twilight”, or the “Harry Potter” films. You can ask your friends and family to vote for what they
most want to see, or surprise them with a fully curated evening. Either way, a movie marathon will make

The Muppets Coming soon on DVD

Ok, first of all- I am going to take for granted in this review that you know who the Muppets are. If you don’t, please look into it, you really are missing a whole lot of awesome. Even better, find everything with Jim Henson‘s name on it, start with early stuff and go forward through time.

Everyone with me now? OK. This movie does them justice. The Muppets movie reminds me of an episode of The Muppet Show. One where the show is more about the backstage, not the front. With a whole lot of guest stars, a whole lot of music, and a whole lot of Muppets and funny business 🙂 The songs will stick in your head, and you too will wonder whether you are man or Muppet, especially for some reason in the shower….. don’t ask. Just watch.

In terms of story, it follows a new Muppet who is looking to meet the cast of “The Muppet Show”, there are some zany issues and eventually the cast comes together again. This is a great movie for kids, the main issues we had with it was a lack of interest by Little Man, know why? There is no Muppets Show on TV right now….This we will discuss later on. But after listening to the sound track and pulling out some of Mommy’s old stuffed [Read more…]
