Personal Creations Review and #Contest ($50)

Every little kids needs a backpack that’s just his or her size for back to school, for going to grandma’s, and those random day trips to the zoo, park, and wherever else you may be headed! So where is a great place to find one, that everyone else doesn’t already have?  Personal Creations of course!  Great place for kids backpacks.
My son just got his, and I can tell you that I have never seen one like it before. As a Pre-K teacher who was a nanny for 10 years, if I haven’t seen this backpack, you can bet your child will be the only (or at least one of the only!) kids to have it!

How cute is this little Monkey Rolling Backpack?  I can’t show you mine exactly, since it has his “real’ name on it, but you get the idea!

Your child’s backpack will still be easy to spot, though, because you can personalize it with his or her name. It has adjustable straps, a small handle and wheels. You can’t fit a TON in there, so it is best for small kids (Preschool age).
Personal Creations is a great place for all your back to school needs, I just love their backpack and lunchbox sets!

One of you will have the chance to win a $50 gift code from Personal Creations.  Here is how to enter!

Anytime Costumes-Review and #Contest Get Ready for Halloween

I just LOVE Anytime Costumes! The customer service is fantastic, the costumes are really great (I personally have yet to see even the slightest snag in any of them, and my last winner emailed me raving about how wonderful her Cinderella costume is!) and take the abuse that kids dish out, and they come super fast. After you place your order, you get a confirmation email, and then a shipping confirmation as well. I love that! Before you know it, your costume will be at your door. And if you order now, you will be sure to get the costume you (and more importantly, your little ones!) covet for Halloween. We all know what happens if you wait too long!

You get to the costume store or try to order it- only to find out that it is totally sold out, and you are stuck with the generic princess or cowboy or something totally lame-o. My thoughts? Don’t wait! If you know what your kid(s) want now, order now. No need for a disappointed buggar on the coolest holiday ever! 😛

The last costume we ordered I brought to the Pre-K for the boys to use as dress-up/pretend play clothes. They are still loving the Green Lantern outfit! It is so hard to find boys dress up. For girls, it’s easy, but not so much for boys- they want to be superheros, policemen, and firemen- and besides a few awful, and easy to break plastic hats there is never any variety. I was so happy to bring them some costumes! 🙂
(The name says it all- Anytime Costumes- great for dress-up play year round!)

I got a costume for me to use- I wanted one that I can use for the Pre-K party. Nothing revealing or skimpy, and mommas, you know how hard that can be to find. My advice to any plus sized or large breasted women in particular is to ALWAYS order online. It is the best way to get what you want, at a good price, where you won’t end up looking trashy or like you are wearing a bag. You can still look good- with the variety available online at Anytime Costumes, you will be THRILLED and bookmark the site for use again and again.

For me, I have the issue (and always have, ugh) of having a large chest, and it pulls the costume up, making skirts shorter and the tops pull and look funny. I always order plus sized, and it works out well. Can I do that in some costume store? No, I wind up with some off-the-rack, cheap, whatever-I-can find thing. But why settle? Now that I know about online shopping and Anytime Costumes, I will never, ever settle for store shopping again. (Plus I don’t have to leave the house- BONUS!)

You can buy all your accessories, makeup, and trick-or-treating carry-alls as well- how easy is that? (AND the price is right, too!)
Make sure that you check them out here, and place [Read more…]

Fun and Adorable New Pajamas for the Family- Review and Contest

Autumn is here, and that means that winter is coming- can you feel it? The weather has begun to change, and it is cooling down 🙂 Soon, we will have to pack away our shorts and tank tops for almost a whole year, and bust out the fleece and flannel! I have to say, it’s been so hot this summer that I am fully ready.

One of the best parts of fall (in my opinion) is that with cooler nights, brings snuggling in bed or on the couch in your PJ’s, under your favorite blanket, with some hot chocolate and maybe a movie. And I just found THE CUTEST pajama store! It’s called CrazyForBargains.com and it is so easy-breezy to shop at. I love, love, love the options, how user-friendly it is- and the prices are oh-so right. Your budget will for sure not be broken here, and that is coming from a teacher! (Hey- I love my job, but my salary? Not so much! LOL)

One more thing that I think you moms of especially boys will love- Crazy for Bargains has a whole lot of options for your little man. (For girls too- but shopping for boys can be a chore, since so many places don’t give you choices.)  So many stores are boring to shop at for boys, they have no choices, and limited sizes. Variety is not going to be a problem here, that has to be my favorite thing about Crazy For Bargains. The hardest part will be choosing what you want! From Thomas to Mario, they have it all when it comes to pajamas for boys.

I dared to ask them to stay still so I could take a photo.  Yep.  Little strikes again, LOL

He didn’t stay still anyway, LOL- Oh well- at least Kamikaze was helpful!  Trying, haha

Look at how cute my kids look in their new pajamas! These fun and inexpensive pajamas are adorable, and Kamikaze had to be yanked out of hers by force because the skirt of the nightdress was “super-spinny” (according to Kamikaze) and she was thinking she was a ballerina, LOL. But at some point, she did have to get dressed! 😛

They have PJ’s for the whole family– come on and take a look 🙂
In addition, one of you lucky ducks will win a $25 gift credit toward anything on the site.

JAKE AND THE NEVER LAND PIRATES- New Disney DVD and FUn Pre-K Party!

Yo Ho Ho!!!
Jake and the Never Land pirates is a new show on Disney Junior, the new portion of shows on Disney meant for the little ones.  This particular show follows the adventures of Jake, Izzy and Cubby, parrot Skully and their boat, Bucky as they solve puzzles of the pirate variety and find hidden treasure.  Before we start getting nervous about pirates being “bad guys” and teaching bad values, worry not, dear reader!  These pirates are, as Little Man puts it,”Good Fun Guys”.

I also enjoy the Never Land Pirate Band performing, “Pirate Party”.  There is something special about a group of grown men dressed as pirates prancing about and playing music about Never Land.  Check out that and more here.  LOL

We had a “Pirate Party” at the Pre-K today, and the kids had a blast!  They dressed like pirates, watched the new DVD, Jake and the Never Land Pirates: Yo Ho, Mateys Away! which comes out Sept 27, and had some pirate snacks while listening to the cute soundtrack.

The kids knew more about the show then I did, LOL, and were excited to see the DVD and dress up.  We had a fun-filled morning, and I had a few extra minutes to spend with each kid do do a complicated project while the DVD was going- YAY PIRATES!!!!   LOL- bonus for the grown ups!

DISNEY JUNIOR’S #1 SERIES JAKE AND THE NEVER LAND PIRATES” RELEASES ITS FIRST MUSIC SOUNDTRACK & DVD

BURBANK, CA, July 28, 2011 – A new soundtrack and DVD inspired by Disney Junior’s #1 series Jake and the Never Land Pirates, are planned to set sail this September with Walt Disney Records’ album release of eighteen hook-filled songs from the series on September 20 and The Walt Disney Studios “Jake and the Never Land Pirates: Yo Ho, Mateys Away!” DVD release featuring seven episodes from the series on September 27.

Jake and the Never Land Pirates is cable’s #1 series among Boys 2-5 and is on track to be Disney Channel’s #1 preschool series ever.  It is the most co-viewed series among all Disney Junior and Nickelodeon series, with 47% of Moms watching with their preschooler.  A music-filled interactive treasure hunt, the series introduces a crew of kid pirates – leader Jake and pals Izzy and Cubby – and follows their Never Land adventures as they work to outwit two infamous characters, the one and only Captain Hook and Smee, from Disney’s classic “Peter Pan.”  Every episode features the animated Sharky and Bones characters as they pop up throughout to perform original pirate ditties, and each episode concludes with a live action music video featuring The Never Land Pirate Band.

The deluxe edition includes a pirate bandana.  The album arrives at stores and online retailers September 20.

The album features a variety of songs that kids and parents can enjoy together. Songs include the kooky, comical “Hot Lava,” “Aw Coconuts,” “Pirate Password,” and the arrrghhh-rated “Talk Like a Pirate.” Some songs refer to popular characters in the show, such as “What’s Cookin’ Smee,” “Captain Hook (Is A Cranky Crook),” “Tick Tock Croc” and “Bucky’s Shanty.” Others capture the island spirit of Never Land, such as “Castaway on Pirate Island,” “Shipwreck Shuffle” and “Never Sky,” as well as the “Jake and the Never Land Pirates” theme song. All songs can be heard in episodes of the show.

Portland, Oregon-based Hoskins and Hendrickson have been creating pirate rock music for kids of all ages for more than a decade. Daddy’s Corner- Robots, Anyone? Review and Giveaway #CleverRobot #spon

Mechatars

Daddy here- since this is a mega-ultra-super serious man topic, I have taken it from my wife.
Now.  I would like to talk to you about something serious for a moment.  This serious topic is Robots.  Robots are going to take over, and it is going to be soon.  The next step in this evolution of our robo-overlords will come in the form of children’s toys.  These toys are called Mechatars.  Mechatars are/will be this season’s most wanted toy, thus invading living rooms and computers everywhere!
These crafty robots are not only remote controlled but are also members of a robust online gaming community.  Your battles effect both your robots physical form as well as its digital form.  This may be the only way to save humanity from the coming Armageddon.

Sorry I couldn’t help it these robots are so neat and have some very very smart features it is almost scary thinking about what they could do with just the spark of reason.
Mechatars are robot warriors that fight in both the physical world Earth, via a remote control and also online in the Mechaverse, via your computer, the internet and some cloud computing.  The interesting part here which differentiates Mechatars from other toys lines with online components is they are connected.  Your child will train their robot in the physical world then complete missions and battles in the online world.  All the while transferring experience between the two and evolving and personalizing their robot as they progress.  Upgrading and powering up your Mechatar is done in BOTH the physical world via purchasing of special weapon attachments as well as the digital world via leveling up and battles.  Upgrades in either ‘world’ effects the other, seamless integration.

The Mechatars also interact with one another.  I like toys that actually get kids to play together in real life, I feel there is not enough face to face interaction between people in general right now.  It is nice to see a toy line which is so technologically advanced yet still sees the importance and fun of face to face play.  I also like the responsibility the makers of Mechatars have taken in the digital world.  They have a special note to parents about the product by mostly this note pertains to their children’s safety online.  Nicely done Bossa Nova Robotics.

Here is some general product information for you-

Mechatars are a new, interactive play experience iLove Robots call “blended reality.” Brand-new and launching this fall, Mechatars combines the best of online gaming and RC robotic toys by connecting the physical world and online world through cloud computing.

Technology: Even young kids expect a high-level of tech sophistication and Mechatars meets them where they are playing (perfect for ages 6-12)

Two Worlds of Fun: Accept missions in the physical world to traverse the terrain and then continue to battle it out online using strategic tactics to earn points to upgrade your weapons across the Eight Elements in the Mechaverse

Value: Parents love the value of our affordable price point AND the significantly extended play

Availability: Mechatars is launching nationwide in Fall 2011 at stores like Target, Radio Shack, Amazon, Toys R’Us and iloveRobots.com (MSRP: $39.99)

Daddy’s Corner- It’s ALL about Think Geek!

New stuff at our favorite geek headquarters ThinkGeek.com -First we will take a voyage across the ocean to the other side of the planet to Japan and pick up a new pet.  She is small and lives in the fridge by the milk.  She is a tiny little polar bear/ milk carton who greets you upon opening the refrigerator.

Check it out: Fridgeezoo.  You can pick either the male or female of the species and both are equally awesome.  One word of advice, let the kids see them BEFORE they go into the fridge.  Little Man didn’t notice it until it was in the fridge and insisted on saying hello quite often.  It is fun to give the little critter a hello and nod back as you grab your fruit or milk.   It should be even more interesting at our next friend gathering as they are greeted by a cheerful little voice from the top shelf. 🙂

Next up is the Star Wars stuffies!  Sure it is easy to make stuffed toys out of critters like Chewbacca, Ewoks, and Yoda.  But the true test of a company’s creativity is to create a soft plush of a space ship or land vehicle.  We really loved the Millennium Falcon and AT-AT, both are detailed enough to know what they are yet not too detailed to loss the clearly plush characteristics of them.  Now do not get me wrong Chewbacca still makes a great bed time buddy in the eternal quest for bed time bliss, but the Star Wars vehicles are a nice change of pace and are sure to get your little Star Wars fans in a tizzy.

Little Man brought his to school today, and he was the envy of every boy there.  Don’t worry, he shared!  He is having a blast with them, and has already told his mom that he wants Santa to please bring him the R2D2 and Yoda.

Don’t forget to follow @ThinkGeek and on Facebook

Travel in Style with BRX! Luggage that can REALLY stand up!

I am loving my new BRX  Travel Adventure Gear.  It was a bit rough to find, but worth the work!  I had searched for it online, and it came up that there was a local-ish store that had this fab luggage collection, and I was CRAZY excited- as a travel queen, I am always looking for stuff that can really hold up.  Sadly, when I got there?  Nothing to be had.  They also said they don’t carry the brand at all, so that was a bummer.  REI Stores are also now carriers of BRX luggage, so I called ever store within a 90 minute driving range- not one of them had it.  Blah!  So, I went to old reliable- the internet!  Briggs and Riley TravelWare had the whole set, so even though I couldn’t see them in person, it was cool to see the whole collection.

For me, as a writer and a blogger (not to mention resident Mama-razzi and up-loader of a zillion photos everywhere I go!) a great computer bag was my number one.  Mine was in dire straights, and I am thrilled to say that the new Excursion Messenger is FABULOUS!  I love, love, love it!  Besides being great for travel, I take it with me to work nearly every day, and it was the surviving computer of my flood.  So YAY for that! It was easy to grab and move.

The other thing I thought would be really, really useful is a great backpack- because really- what momma can’t use a killer backpack?  With a zillion pockets and padded straps- this Excursion Backpack is great for travel, and for everyday use as well.

As most of you know, I was actually away on travel when I found out about Hurricane Irene, and that she would be on her way to my area.  I left abruptly, and hightailed it home, making it back just hours before it hit.  When the storm hit, I was frantically moving things and trying to salvage what I could.  Because we were unable to use our own showers, kitchen, washing machine, etc- we were running about to other people’s houses quite a bit.  We were very much abusing the bags, since I was dragging everything about in it.

Here is the hubs- with the mandatory hurricane Doritos- on our way to my nearby cousin’s house, who had a working bathroom and shower.  Since we had to be able to walk wherever we went (we have evacuated the kids via National Guard boat to my mom’s house for a few days, the conditions were just not sanitary at all) the backpack was a lifesaver!

I’ll give you all a proper travel post with my fab new travel gear in October, when I will be on the road again!  (Since my Labor Day trip was clearly cancelled, LOL.)  If any of you are thinking of getting some new luggage for upcoming travels- even family visits for the upcoming holidays- I can HIGHLY recommend these!  They are killer, easy to clean (and in this current environment, that is so crucial!) and comfortable.  I am loving them!  And the online shopping is easy, so head on over!
We’ll talk more about them later.
Happy Trails in the meantime!  🙂

Win Playmobil Playset – Children’s Zoo

My kids love Playmobil!  They have the best playsets, and I love that they come with everything a kid could want to crate a fun space.  You can have just one set, or add on as you want and build a whole city, town, or in this case- zoo!

You know this is Little Man’s favorite set of toys- he ADORES wild animals (farms, and animals of all kinds, really) as you can tell from his bedroom, and most of his toys, haha.  He was so super psyched when he saw this Children’s Zoo Playset.  Do you not love the attention to detail?  I love all the little trees, flowers, tufts of grass, the ripples in the water, and so much more!

This is a children’s petting zoo area, and what kid doesn’t love a petting zoo?  None that I know of!  Look at all the cute little animals, and you can change the fence around to however your child likes it.   There is shelter for the animals, a duck pond, and water with a turning water wheel.  There is a cute little mom and kid, as well as a few extra kiddos, because every petting zoo will have tons of kids at it, yes?  Yes!

There is a WHOLE Zoo world you can also add onto this set with, should your heart so desire.  I bought Little Man a few Playmobil sets since he has begun collecting Playmobil- we had never seen these before, and now I wonder why not?  He really loves them, and he likes when things “match” and go together.  He especially likes the Mommy and Baby sets of animals that most of these sets come with.

Kamikaze likes that she can make up stories with them- she played “class trip” with this the first day, and brought in some other Playmobil people and Little People as the extra cast, haha.  She of course also did mom and dad taking the kids to the zoo, and then made one where the sheep put all the people in the zoo, threw cherries at them, and then laughed.  (She’s a little strange.  What can I say.)

So!  Playmobil has a great website where you can see all the fun sets that they have to offer.  You can also buy them at Toys R Us for sure, they have most of an aisle dedicated to them.
