Today I have the pleasure of trying a great product that goes by the name of Topricin.  Topricin is a homeopathic pain relief cream.  This pain relief cream is all natural paraben and petroleum free. Safe for all kinds of skin types including our little ones’ sensitive skin.  There is also no odd smell to it, no heat or burning, and also no odd side effects or harsh chemicals.  When applying, just rub a small amount into the middle of your painful spot then around it about 3 inches.  Rub the cream in and there you have it.  This cream can be used for just about any minor or major pain you may be feeling from arthritis to fibromyalgia, to back pain  and carpal tunnel syndrome.  I have tried it on the small of my back after some long long days of lugging around the ‘mommy bag’ and the kids, ot the husband for that matter.  I liked how there really was very little smell, and the smell it did have was very plain, not like a medicine or perfume like other creams and lotions. 
Not only did we receive the original cream but also Topricin Junior and Topricin Foot Therapy Cream.  Junior has homeopathic ingredients just like the regular cream but is made specifically for our little ones.  Especially formulated for bumps, bruises, growing pains, minor burns and sprains.  This can be used for just about anything your little ones can get into.  Even for post surgery pain as a replacement for oral pain relievers (So says the site!). 
Topricin Foot Therapy is also a great product.  It is homeopathic of course no odd smells or anything that but still strong and effective.  This works with pain relief of nerve pain, gout, bunions an sport injuries like ankle sprains achilles tendonitis and plantat fascilitis.  All kinds of nasty stuff, but these problems to happen and at least now we have an alternative to try when most doctors just want to prescribe stronger and stronger pain relievers.

So adorable!   My Little Man loved him, and the kids at the Pre-K went nuts, too.  Boys and girls alike wanted in on some playtime with this little fella!

The girls made it a “baby bear“- and took it around in the stroller, fed it in the high chair, and burped it.  The little kids boys did the same thing, and also the boys of all ages made it a bear that ate little people.  Since it drinks the bottle, it makes the “chewing” motion, and it was a hit with all ages and all the kids.

Cocochia

We all want to live healthy, get in shape, and feel great.  But what happens when we get that  craving for something sinfully delicous?  Well here is a good solution, coconut.  Well Living Fuel thought of this first.  Living Fuel Cocochia Ultimate Snack Mix is a mix of raw organic coconut, chia seeds and probiotics.  This mix is both healthy and delicous.  It has a touch of sweet, a touch of crunchy and of course that wonderful coconut flavor when you need to indulge.  But this snack mix is actually VERY good for you.  It is rich in Omega-3’s, medium chain triglycerides and fiber while still being a low-glycemic snack.  I personally love coconut and thought this product was very good- but it’s so high in fat I gave it all to Little Man, who doesn’t need to worry about such things!  🙂 

We also tried out the CocoChia Sustained Energy Bar.  This bar is not like those other almost inedible bars you find on store shelves.  These are very good.  Almost too good.  The flavors are spot on.  Not only that but this is a raw food bar which includes: chia seeds, a great source of energy, omega-3s and omega-6s, Agave Syrup, which adds the sweet that is safe for diabetics, and non-GMO rice protein, which adds the raw fuel your body needs.

Another fun product line Living Fuel has is their protein shake mixes.  These were quite good and very filling.  As a meal ont he go these worked perfect,  Just two scoops a quick shake and you have a healthy fast meal without the ‘fast-food’ grease.  The blends are: SuperBerry, SuperGreens, and LivingProtein.  The hubs likes these a lot.

Stover- a book with good eating habits for your kiddo!

Stover is an interesting book written by Kathy Brodsky.  For starters it stars a pig who goes by the name Stover.  Stover is not a big fat pig, but features a pig who is trying to eat better, stay fit and in general be a little healthier.  I think a very interesting point in the book is when the main character is happy with not seeing an real difference in the way she looks.  This is a very realistic interpretation of what happens when working out for the first, even up to the third-forth week of working out.  Any difference will be slow and steady, but well worth it.  Most exercises for kids books would show a dramatic change quickly, but is unrealistic and when kids actually do try to be healthy they expect fast change right now!  (and reminds us of the same- and helps kid understand healthy eating habits and the importance of being active.)  Thanks, Stover for showing kids how to live healthy by eating right and exercising , not crash dieting.
AND- good thoughts for the kids, and good reinforcement if you are (like me) trying to be healthier, and improve your life and the life of your family  🙂

Old Mother Hubbard

Old Mother Hubbard, to make up for starving her dog in the nursery rhyme, I suppose- has begun making dog treats!  They started baking about 80 years ago and has been baking since in Gloucester, MA.  They started by making snacks for fishermen but quickly found another hard working hungry critter, the dog.  Old Mother Hubbard uses all natural wholesome ingredients including: chicken, cheddar cheese, apples, carrots, sweet potatoes and oatmeal.  Sounds good enough to eat.  The real test comes with the taste test.  First we try Skin & Coat, this snack helps your dog have healthy skin and fur, by providing 1.75% of Omega 6 and 0.5% of Omega 3 fatty acids.  Chaac absolutely loved them.  He did that lovely drool thing- what, that’s not enticing?  So you know he liked them extra!   Next up we were going to do some tricks so we tried Soft & Chewy Bitz Liver Recipe.  What I liked about these were you can fit a pretty good amount of them in your pocket.  These are perfect for teaching that old dog new tricks or keeping that young canine in line.  Plus- what dog doesn’t deserve a good treat now and then?  They do put up with us annoying humans, after all, LOL.  If it is also good for them- why not?

Overall both Chaac and I liked these treats, although I will be honest I- did not taste them.

BossyPants

I just finished reading BossyPants, by Tina Fey.  I have to say, I was kind of disappointed.  I am a big fan of hers- from the Weekend Update (and SNL as a whole, haha) to 30 Rock- I really like her work.  She is really funny, speaks for the equality of woman and against gender politics/double standards, and she doesn’t do insane things like so many media personalities do to get attention, either.  But this book…seemed kind of more like a rough draft then a finished version, like it wasn’t “ready” yet.  While it was funny, and gave a (small) bit of background on Tiny Fey, there just wasn’t much substance to it.  No great stories of funny or famous people, or funny or odd things she did on her way to fame.  Ok, maybe she didn’t want to drop names and was being really “PC” so as not to tick anyone off.  No late night work-related drama or fun times.  It wasn’t an autobiography- there wasn’t enough “her” in there.  She seems intensely private- which is fine, but then put something else in the book!  She talked about being friends with some gay people in High School more then any other topic, and that she liked Amy Pohler alot.  But no fun Amy Poler and Tiny Fey stories or adventures, quips….anything.   Her dad is a “presence” and she thinks Sarah Palin is a big Media Star who is better looking then herself.  She talks down about herself a lot.  Which (while I get it- she doesn’t want to sound snobby) is annoying as well.  That’s basically the book.   I kept waiting for “the good part”.  It was totally readable, and interesting and all that jazz- but…meh.  Nah.  Totally “eh” and disappointing- for such a funny lady, what the heck, Tina Fey?
