When it comes to most projects around the house (or in general) there is a step which must be taken before your project even begins.  I’m talking about the prep time and the cleanup of the area or what you will be working on. I participated in an Influencer Activation on behalf of Influence Central for Lionsgate. I received a promotional item to thank me for my participation.  All opinions are my own.

Shaun the sheep is a cute little sheep who leads his flock into zany adventures at Mossy Bottom Farm.  Each adventure usually involves an animal trying to break up their monotonous life style with either human devices or human activities.  It is great fun for kids and adults as a show.  The creators also made the Wallace and Gromit TV show.  The movie has a claylike feel to it with very realistic expressions.

The new Shaun the Sheep movie fallows one of Shaun’s adventures, but this time the farmers life is on the line as is the well being of the farm itself.  The adventures of Shaun in the big city are mad cap and silly, making this a fun movie for kids and adults with its slapstick, non violent comedy.

One of my favorite characters from the movie is Timmy.  Timmy is Shaun’s little cousin who idolizes Shaun (to the point of getting into  a lot of the same trouble Shaun does).  But because he’s the small and cutest member of the flock, he can get away with just about anything.  Know anyone like that, do we?

We really enjoy the  emphasis on teamwork and working as a flock in this movie.  Leadership also played a key role as did problem solving in a creative way.  These are great messages for kids- and some adults, as well.

I would suggest this movie for any family with kids, it is rated PG.  The movie opens in theaters across the country on August 5th.

Below is the official film synopsis, :”When Shaun decides to take the day off and have some fun, he gets a little more action than he bargained for.  A mix up with the Farmer, a caravan, and a very steep hill lead them all to the Big City and it’s up to Shaun and the flock to return everyone safely to the green grass of home. The film is geared toward children ages 4-10.“

Cool Down with Hot Toys

While we are on the topic of things that will get the kids active and playing for hours, check out the Little Tikes Slam ‘n’ Curve Slide. For any of you who follow me on Instagram, you have no doubt seen quite a few photos of my boy making good use of it. Heck, even the dog got in on the action (not recommended for use by pets by the brand, of course) and splashed around in the wading pool area with my son. The slide is easy to set up, and anchors into the ground to keep it steady. It inflates in less then one minute with the included pump. Then you attach your water hose to it, and turn it on- voila! Water slide/bouncy house fun, right in your backyard. As time goes on, the pool at the bottom fills. It doesn’t get very deep, however. There is also a basketball net and mini inflatable ball included for more fun- get a game on while staying cool.

In my opinion, this is one of the best toys you could have for warm weather. It is also perfect for anyone who plans on a “staycation” this year, or who has the kids home from school all summer long. My child has spent literally hours playing on it, and asks for me to set it up regularly. It’s a little cumbersome to put away- first you have to let it dry, then you roll it up (think of a giant sleeping bag) into it’s included storage sack. It’s also a bit heavy to move, but that’s to be expected. Just stick it in a closet when the season is done until you are ready to break it out again next summer. For those inside times, check out the Dyson AM09 Fan + Cool Heater.  It’s perfect for those hot days and nights, when everything just feels sticky and gross.  Some of the coolest features (see what I did there?) about this fan are that it oscillates, tilts, is easy to clean, and is blade-less and safe. You know kids and fans- they always want to stick their fingers (toys, straws, etc) into the slots and “see what will happen”.  We all know what happens, and it’s never good.  Having no blades also means it’s easy to clean, and that it doesn’t just blow dust around- we have all seen how dust accumulates on fan blades, and without them, it is just that much cleaner. My Thoughts:

I have been completely impressed with the BSensible sheets that we were able to do a review on. Luckily my girls are (fingers crossed) past the bed wetting stage, but I feel so much better knowing that the mattresses are safe and protected under those great sheets. Literally the day that I put the sheets on the bed, my daughter spilled her bottle of water all over the bed so were able to truthfully see the sheets at work. Nothing got on my mattress and it was quick and easy for us to clean up.

My Thoughts:

I was a huge fan of both of the items that I was able to review. My daughter absolutely loves her shirt and can’t wait to wear her new shirt on her first day of Kindergarten. The shirt fits great with room enough to grow and wear it all year long. On top of that, The shirt is made incredibly. It is going to hold up and last all year long for sure, which is great for this big girl.

I could not love my tumbler anymore. I am a big fan of sparkle and am ready to start out my new school year with the perfect cup. I always take a cup of water with me everyday and I am happy to have a new cup that is adorable as well as a great size to keep me hydrated as I go about my day.

Frozen Fruit Yoplait® pop

Its Summer time and snacking in the summer can be a double edged sword, everyone wants something cold and delicious but most cold delicious things contain too much sugar or don’t really have any positive nutritional value to them. The recipe I made takes a simple yogurt and turns it into an extra fruity frozen surprise.

First you will need some fruit cut up into small pieces thing half bite size or berries work great too.

Ingredients:

½ diced fruit or berries

3 Yoplait® yogurt cups, you can pick any flavor or variety you like. If you are having a hard time finding your favorite be sure to hit up your local Wal-Mart where you are sure to find a multitude of flavors in either Original, Light, Greek, or Gogurt.

3 ice pop sticks, or chop sticks or even metal spoons work

Directions:

Open each yogurt up and leave the lid on partially. Pack the remaining room in the cup with fruit, mix it up thoroughly so the fruit is relatively evenly mixed. Fold over the lid and jam your stick/spoon through the lid into the yogurt beneath. Now set these in the freezer for an overnight.

These will take a while to freeze so be aware. Also be careful with the containers in which the yogurt is frozen into if the container has a lid along the top chop that off before putting it into the freezer.

These frozen treats are a great way to get healthy dairy and fruits as well as probiotics in your diet with little effort and still staying cool on a hot day. I would suggest trying out many different fruits in your yogurt to find your favorites. My personal favorite are frozen berries of any kind, so these are the obvious choice for me to add.

My Thoughts:

I was incredibly impressed by this great product. All the supplies that you need for a wide variety of projects together in one spot and with instructions to guide you, how could you possibly go wrong? 🙂 We are out and about and on the go a lot and I am always looking for something to take with me for the girls to have to do when we get somewhere. I have had a few vacations this summer and been so happy to have a tote full of art supplies that I can throw in the car as we are pulling out.

The girls have enjoyed all of the wonderful creations that they have already made. When they see me get out one of the craft totes they get excited to pick out what project that they are going to make. A few of the projects they have definitely needed my help for, but I enjoy doing things with them so that definitely isn’t a problem for me.

In addition to all the projects we have made and the convenience of having everything together in one spot, it’s not the only use that I have found for the Craft totes. The Totes make wonderful gifts for birthday parties for kids.

My girls are definitely girlie girls. We love to play with babies. Anytime that we are leaving the house to go anywhere or do anything each of my girls have to pick out a baby to bring with them. My Thoughts:

She also has a sweet baby smell to her that is unlike any other brand of dolls that I have ever seen before.

My daughters love playing with their Tickled Pink Toddler. They take turns great and she is always one of the babies that we bring along with us. I can’t wait for their birthdays to come up and get them an additional Toddlertime Doll to add to their collection.
