About Zabada

Zabada is on a mission to come into your home, and rid us from crazy poisonous chemical cleaners. They are taking a stand against the bad chemicals that leave yucky toxic residues and emissions for your skin to absorb and kids to breathe – chemicals known to poison and cause us serious harm.

They are crusaders with integrity and a solution that’s scientifically proven to clean better, faster, and healthier. And joining their mission are millions of households across Europe and Australia who’ve already shed the HAZMAT suit and converted to chemical-free living with the Zabada system.

Zabada Fiber Cleaning System:

It’s an Austrian-made and engineered range of advanced cleaning fibers and microfiber cloths, the likes of which no grease, grime or bacteria have ever seen before in the U.S. Zabada fibers are deeper, thicker, and superior in quality compared to your average microfiber cloth. They’re made and hand-sewn in Austria to exacting European ISO standards. They’re cut 100 times finer than a human hair to reach in and grab every particle from every kind of surface. And all they need to remove dirt and bacteria is a little water.

#LISTERINE 21-Day Challenge

I am a little bit…hyper-vigilant, shall we say, about oral hygiene.  We don’t miss our 6 month dentist appointments, we brush three times a day (the boy and I do, the husband is twice- what can I say), and floss daily.  We use mouthwash.  I bought my son those little dinosaur “picks” that help him floss (you know, they have the floss on the dinosaur’s “mouth” to help kids floss?)  My son has mouthwash and a toothbrush at school, and he uses it after lunch.  Really.  He gets a nebulizer treatment after lunch every day, and he uses mouthwash and brushes his teeth both for hygiene and to keep his teeth from getting soft from the treatments.

oral health

I might have a problem.

Well, as problems go, it’s not the worst one to have, right?  So, when we were asked to take the Listerine 21 Day Challenge, I said yes- and I’m taking it as just that, a challenge.  Will it do anything to improve our current regime?  I don’ t know.  We start Monday, so I will let you know.

Review and Giveaway- Little Gestalten Books

There are seemingly no end to the good reasons that parents should read to their children, not the least of which is the simple act of bonding time. I read with my son all the time, but he knows that as part of his bed time ritual, he gets his song, his story, his “made up” story, and then we have to put good dreams into his head.  It’s kind of a long story how that came about, and bedtime starts about 40 minutes before actual bedtime, but it’s a nice way to end the night.

We are always looking for great new books.  We find them everywhere- the bookstore, the library, book sales at his school book swaps- you name it.  His newest books are really beautiful, and something a little different.  If you are a big reader, and have little ones who love to read (or to be read to), you will want to check out the new Berlin-based children’s book publisher Little Gestalten and their debut line of beautiful, high concept, totally unique picture books. Critically acclaimed, The New York Times Style Section says “Little Gestalten….marries thoughtful storytelling with supercool visuals.”

pic7Issun Boshi: The One Inch Boy – This classic Japanese fairy tale tells the story of Issun Boshi, the tiny son of an old, long childless couple. His mother had longed to have a child for so many years that she finally added “even if it is a very small one” to her wish. When the elderly couple did in fact bear a son, he turned out to be only one inch high. He was thus called Issun Boshi, Japanese for one-inch boy. Tiny and brave — these are the two most striking characteristics of Issun Boshi. Although his parents raised him very lovingly, Issun Boshi realized one day that he would not grow any taller. He then left his home to set off on a journey to find his place in the world.

Win Tarzan Blu-ray and DVD

Soon to hit shelves (this February 10th) is the newly remastered Tarzan movie.  My son is really excited to see it, he loves anything jungle-related. He saw Tarzan a long time ago, but he doesn’t really remember it- this will be fun for both of us.

pic5Kellan Lutz (The Twilight Saga franchise) headlines the latest incarnation of the iconic tale Tarzan®, available on Blu-ray (plus Digital HD) and DVD (plus Digital) February 10 from Lionsgate Home Entertainment. Based on the classic ‘Tarzan’ stories created by Edgar Rice Burroughs, one of the most enchanting coming of age stories of all time has been completely re-imagined for a new generation in stunning CGI-animation. Currently available on Digital HD and On Demand, the film was written and directed by Reinhard Klooss (Animals United) and  grossed over $35 million globally in its initial theatrical release. Movie Review- Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day

We recently had the opportunity to watch the soon to be released (on 2/10) movie,Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day starring Steve Carell (Crazy, Stupid, Love, TV’s The Office) as Ben Cooper, Jennifer Garner (Dallas Buyer’s Club, TV’s Alias) as Kelly Cooper and Ed Oxenbould (Paper Planes) as Alexander Cooper.  The movie arrives on Digital HD, Blu-ray™ Combo Pack, Disney Movies Anywhere and On-Demand February 10th.

Some movies are deep and meaningful, others are light and fun, while still others fit in the various shades between. Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day is a light and fun comedy brought to you by Disney Motion Pictures Studios. The story is based on the award winning book by Judith Viorst’s book called Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day. After reading the book and watching the play, I have to say the movie takes the general story and extends it with a different storyline and more Steve Carrell.

As many of you know, we recently got a new addition to the house a 2.5 year old dog named “Cooper”.  Rescued from a shelter in NYC, he has been a good fit for our household, and we are enjoying him. Many of you know that we are also avid animal “foster parents”, and usually have a critter or two (or more) that we are fostering for a local shelter or rescue organization.  There just aren’t enough homes to go around, and too many animals are over-bred.  Cooper was in a high kill shelter, where his days were numbered.  As a matter of fact, there is a group that is pretty active trying to get pets out of there as fast as possible, and I’m sorry to say that many of the dogs we met while we were there adopting Cooper were put to sleep that same week, due to running out of room.  It broke my heart- sweet dogs, whose lives were cut short because no one took the time to find them good homes and just dumped them at a high kill shelter, or in the street where they were found wandering, or a million other sad stories.   The worst part is that it just didn’t need to happen. As the bumper sticker on my car says, “Don’t Buy Love- Rescue It!”

The goal of The Shelter Pet Project is to make shelters and rescue groups the first place people turn when looking to get a new pet.

The Key To Happy Road Trips #AlamoDriveHappy

Disclosure- This is a sponsored post.  All opinions are my own and honest.

Most people know that we love to travel, and do so as often as we can over here at Have Sippy headquarters.  We have certainly had a lot of fun on those trips, as well as made a lot of memories- and we look forward to more of both in the future.  Lately, we have been thinking about our travels and how we use them as a jumping off point for our travel resolutions for this year.

10 19 11 new 010My son and I take a lot of trips, both road trips and otherwise together.  Sometimes daddy comes, sometimes another family member(s), sometimes we go by ourselves- but we always have a lot of fun. One of his favorite road trips was to the Bob Evan’s homestead and Fall Festival- he still talks about it, and although he really liked Bob Evan’s restaurants before, he is hooked now.

pic4My grandmother went with us on that trip, and the three of us had a great time.  It was a very long drive- about 12 hours- and we of course stopped half way to get a hotel room for the night.  Neither my son nor grandmother had the constitution for a drive longer then that in one day!  It’s important to keep everyone’s ages, stages, and abilities in mind when planning a trip- road or any other kind.  Don’t overdo it, and DO stop for breaks (bathroom, food, and in general when your passengers need a break.  Everyone isn’t you, so to do something like “ban” pit stops will do no one any favors).
