Bag It Forward #Bagitforward

I participated in this My Moment for Elmers Bag It Forward campaign, a program that helps kids who need it get the school supplies they need.  As a teacher, and as a mother- you know I have to love this.

Kids will feel better, more empowered, and more prepared if they have all the things they need for the year.  They won’t be comparing themselves to other kids in the class, or worrying about what they DON’T have- they can just focus on learning.

We volunteer at a local shelter, and I knew who I wanted to give our bags to.  I had bought most of Kamikaze’s supplies already, and gave a few things to the shelter- but I don’t have a whole lot of disposable income- so I did what I could, and that was it.  The ability to give 2 kids just what they needed, made me feel thrilled.  I asked a brother and sister duo I have gotten close to for their “list” of supplies, and I went for those in particular.  I also picked up crayons for Kamikaze, because I am a terrible mom and forgot them, LOL.

It was a nice feeling to be able to get the kids just what they needed- and I want to thank Elmers for that.  They both needed Glue Sticks– and I also got them a few extras, like Disappearing Purple Glue Sticks, and the traditional Glue All, for just about every project that will be done this year.

Here is a bit more info on Bag it Forward-
“Elmer’s is teaming up with bloggers across the country to kickoff the Bag it Forward movement. These bloggers are gathering school supply bags for families, organizations and teachers, and encouraging others to join in. In addition, Elmer’s is donating one product for every “Like” on the Elmer’s Facebook page to the Kids In Need foundation, and an additional item for every view the video on the Kids In Need tab receives.
Join us in the #BagItForward movement and give someone you know a bag of school supplies! Together we can make a difference.”

I hope that you guys can help out in any way that you can as well- from a carton of pencils to a whole backpack- we can all do a little something,   I again, want to thank Elmers for letting me do more then I would have been able to do on my own- sincerely.

From July 25 through Sept. 1, for each “like” on the Elmer’s Facebook page, the company will donate a product to the Foundation’s national network of free stores, where teachers from disadvantaged schools can “shop” for free for school supplies. Products to be donated include a variety of glues, foam board, project supplies and pencil sharpeners. If you already like the page, we’ll make a contribution on your behalf, but you can donate again by watching a video on the Elmer’s Kids In Need Facebook tab and sharing it with your friends and family.  ( You are going to “like” them, right?  It’s a small thing, for a good cause!)

Elmer’s is a Upromise partner and that every time you purchase an Elmer’s or Krazy Glue product with your registered drug or grocery card, a percentage of your purchase will be put into your Upromise account. More information can be found here – http://www.elmers.com/about/special-offers

This project has been compensated as part of a social shopper insights study for Elmer’s #bagitforward #collectivebias. All opinions are my own.

Kiddie Academy- Opportunity Knocks

Kiddie Academy can lead to some wonderful opportunities, for couples, friends, and classmates.  That is definitely do-able; who hasn’t thought that they would love to spend more time with that best friend in their life?  Well how about someone closer then best friend?  But how about family members, not just cousins- I mean very close family members.

Mother/daughter team Shanie and Judy did just that.  They opened a Kiddie Academy on Gainesville, Florida.  This was soon after a move to the area and an unwillingness to accept sub par child care.  Shanie had a background in education and both had experience in in home day care.  After some deliberation and a few suggestions from their husbands, they decided to open up a franchise for Kiddie Academy.  Their franchise has done well, but of course has had its rough spots.  One of which is dedication of staff, which is a problem in most child care businesses.  Without trustworthy, caring staff the parents aren’t comfortable and most importantly the kids aren’t comfortable.  So with training, positive reinforcement and work role modeling they have been able to get a better handle on this issue.  As a teacher, I can tell you that proper management is key- no teacher wants to work in a poorly run or disorganized school, and they won’t stay.

Take a look at Kiddie Academy, you never know what could happen.

Disclosure- this is a sponsored post by me on behalf of Kiddie Academy.  All opinions are my own.

My name is Ashley and I am the blogging Mommy behind “Our family growing from three to four“. I am the wife to an amazing man who works so hard so that I can stay home with our wonderful children! I am Mommy to a 4.5 year old little boy, Travis, and a newborn baby girl, Sophie. These two keep me busy and on my toes at all times. We also have two dogs, Sally and Titan, they are the two kids in our house that drive me mad :)I am a breastfeeding, cloth diapering, baby wearing Mommy who loves my life and all those in it. “Cloth diapers? Like with pins and plastic pants!!” That is what I heard when I explained to my family that we would be cloth diapering with Sophie. Travis was born at 30 weeks and with the long NICU stay and prematurity issues I had never even thought to look into a diapering alternative to disposables. I did breastfeed with him for several months but it was HARD. When I got pregnant with Sophie I knew I would cloth diaper, not only was it going to save my family money but it would help the environment as well. My family looked at me like I was crazy, most of my friends were un-supportive, but my husband backed my decision 200%. That is when the obsession began and continues still!
When I started researching cloth diapers and baby wearing I came across lots of blogs and knew this was something I would love to do. I enjoyed meeting and getting support from fellow cloth diaper fanatics! When I started my blog just a few short months ago I knew I wanted to be able to share stories about my family as well as provide reviews and giveaways of items that other Moms would love and even some items that would make the world a better place to live. I have been putting forth a lot of effort recently trying to grow my blog and my goal is to be “A blogging SUPER Mom” and share my experiences and opinions with others. I invite you to come by my blog and follow my journey being a Mommy and wife all while proving my family and friends wrong who thought cloth diapering was all about pins and plastic pants!
