5 Fun DIY Baby Shower Decorating Ideas

During the time of a woman’s pregnancy, as everyone is waiting on the arrival of her son or daughter, those months leading up to it is filled it excitement as well as anticipation. There is decorating of the nursery to do, pregnancy pictures to take and of course, at least one bridal shower to be had.

baby shower cakes

If you happen to be someone who is hosting one of those showers, perhaps you’ve been looking for some baby shower decorating ideas that you can do. If so, we have five fun DIY ones below that will not cost a lot of money or take a lot of time. That way, you can get them done in a couple of hours and focus on anything else that the mother-to-be might need:

Create a diaper cake. One of the most classic kinds of baby shower decorations is a diaper cake. If you’ve never seen one before, it’s pretty much exactly like it sounds. You’ll basically need around 100 diapers (cloth or disposable), some rubber bands, diaper pins, colored-tissue, round pieces of cardboard and some colorful ribbon. If you’d like some step-by-step instructions on how to make one, go to Baby Savers and put “DIY diaper cake tutorials” in the search field. They have a variety of cake ideas to choose from.

Give some cupcakes made out of “onesies”. Something else that’s really cute is to make a box of cupcakes. Only rather than using an oven, you can use some onesies instead. These are actually really easy to make with the help of some onesies, baby socks, Scotch tape (and some cupcake boxes, of course). Club Chica Circle is one website that has some clear directions. Just go there and put “cupcake onesies” in the search field.

BugOut

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of The Orkin Ecologist for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

What freaks you out?  I mean what makes your skin crawl in ways which can only be described in horror movie details with Halloween level adjectives?  Why bugs of course.  Be they big hairy spiders or an army or ants, bugs come in many shapes and sizes.  All of which make someone #BugOut.  So why not share these bugouts with Orkin via Pinterest, Twitter, Facebook or smoke signal.  Kidding about smoke signal, that is way old school.

If you really want to freak yourself out check out world’s scariest bugs .  This post on the Orkin Ecologist tells readers of the most creepy crawly bugs around including spiders, ants and botflies.  To those of you who enjoy animal and bug documentaries or just demented articles, will recognize the botfly.  It is a horrid little crawly which eats human flesh under your skin.  Not pretty in the slightest, but good to know about.  Just remember if anyone ever has an insect party, do not trust the guy or gal who brings black widows and botflies.  Personally the scariest bug in the article is the botfly.  Anything living inside of me that I can see moving around would do horrid things to my idea of self and mess me up.  But everyone is different.  What pray tell is your Bugout moment?  Share and see how others feel about it.  I am almost certain there is someone else out there thinking the same exact thing about the same exact bug.

Wait it is?  It’s not even Halloween yet, is it?  Well, for those of us who shop early, it’s shopping time all the time.  Now is the time to start mulling over the perfect gifts for those wonderful people in your life.  My personal favorite way to do this? (Yes, it’s OK to laugh.)

Orkin – Bug-Education

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of The Orkin Ecologist for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

We all know Orkin as the bug people.  They are the ones you call when you want to get creepy crawlers out of your house or yard.  But in order to really be good at their job they must know their targets.  “Keep your friends close and your enemies closer”.  This is especially true of bugs, the more you know the more effective the treatment can be.  You don’t want Orkin to come by with bee killer when there are termites eating away at your floor boards.  So in order to do so Orkin has created “The Ecologist”.  This website studies everything bug and has some very interesting articles, like top 10 bug phobias .

The article covers the top 10 fears of bugs, including the infamous arachnophobia, fear of spiders and scoleciphobia, a fear of worms.  I found most interesting the fear of worms.  I personally have always found worms to be great helps to the soil and even though hey are slimy and wiggly, never something to be afraid of  But to each their own.  On the other hand spheksophobia, a fear of wasps, hits home.  I hate wasps and pretty much run away whenever I see one.   One particular time while chasing Little Man around in a field, there was a single wasp which scared me clear across the field right into a small stream… Not my proudest moment by far, but at least we didn’t get stung. #BugOut
