Brew Wings Food Truck

Wings and Waffles will make your mouth water!

Brew Wings has kicked it up to a whole new level with their take on the now classic chicken and waffles. Wings and Waffles adds spice to the sweet salty goodness that has attracted eaters to the original pairing. If you like Buffalo wings at all, you will love this food truck.

Chicken is a major feature, but the Brew Wings menu goes beyond what their name implies. Yes they have wings, great delicious ones that come in your choice of sauce, Stefano’s Original Buffalo or Brew-B-Q, and chicken tenders too. For those that want to keep their fingers clean there are options like the Kickin’ Chicken Sandwich or the vegetarian grilled cheese. You can also go sweet all the way and enjoy some crisp waffles in syrup. Add a few tatter tots and you have a meal that will hit all your tastebuds.

Wings and Waffles was a new experience and as a wing lover this new spicy element adds to my general craving for the lip burning goodness of Buffalo sauce. The wings are lean and large which makes for a healthy bite without dealing with tiny chicken pieces. The Brew Wings sauce is also a perfect blend of flavors that left my tongue and lips tingling in the best way. If you can’t handle a little heat definitely go with the Brew-B-Q sauce.

The waffles that accompanied those wings were light and fluffy with a great crispy outside. As someone that makes a lot of waffles I was really impressed with Brew Wings. You might be thinking the spicy Buffalo sauce and maple syrup wouldn’t mix but it is a surprisingly great combo that I am already craving more of. In a line up of food trucks this would be a top pick for me.

Now I love my tatters in tot form on any day but when you can get them fried to golden deliciousness then smothered under chicken, cheese, and I poured on the BBQ sauce, the combo is divine. The BBQ sweetens up the savory tots, which are tossed in garlic salt to give them a nice depth.
In the case of the Brew Wings Food Truck the line might be long, but that is because what they are serving inside is worth the wait!

Enjoy these Luxurious Destinations When You Visit Sydney

Sydney is not just the destination for thrill seekers or tourists looking to visit popular attractions, it is also for travelers who are seeking out the finer things in life. We are talking about people who love a little touch of exorbitance in their traveling experience, couples who will indulge in a luxury spa in Sydney, and globetrotters going from one fine-dining restaurant after another all over the world.

You are already treating yourself when you go out traveling, so why not up the ante a bit and allow yourself to enjoy the pleasure of inviting a little exorbitance into your trip. Sydney is definitely one of the best places to indulge in luxury, and to help you, here is a rundown of all the activities you can enjoy during your trip.

Take a ride at The Hiilani Boat at Sydney Harbor

Traveling on land is so mainstream anyway, so why not spend your time on a 95-foot Italian luxury yacht that is fully staffed and has three levels of awesomeness waiting for you. You and your travel companions can spend $5,800 to spend half the day lounging on the yacht and drinking the best wines and champagne, all while enjoying a breathtaking view of the harbor. Not only is this a welcome respite from the spending your trip in the urban jungles of Sydney, but this will allow you to get a genuine break from all the stresses of city life and take a moment for yourself to quietly soak up the sun.

Shop your heart out at Queen Victoria Building

One look at Queen Victoria Building and you will already know that what awaits behind those doors is a shopping experience you would not want to miss out. The building has existed in George Street since 1898 and is now the home of high fashion luxury brands like Salvatore Ferragamo, Longchamp, and Gorman. The Queen Victoria Building also features some of the best restaurants you can find Sydney, and boutique shops for art and antiques.

Treat yourself to a well-deserved spa experience at The Star

The Darling Spa at The Star hotel is one of the first-rate and most luxurious spas in Sydney. They have partnered up with ESPA and La Prairie — international skin care brands that will ensure that your skin gets the same relaxing treatment as your body. There spa features 11 rooms, a Moroccan Hammam chamber, a steam room, a Jacuzzi, a fitness center with a Kinesis wall, and two exclusive suites for couples.

Experience culture at the Handa Opera on the Harbor

Australia is also known for its focus on the performing arts, having produced some of the best actors and musicians the world has ever seen. Which is why it would be a shame to miss a performance at the Handa Opera, complete with delectable food and amazing fireworks to cap off the night. It is a cultural event that has magnetized travelers from all over the world. You will be watching the performers belt out to a dramatic libretto from Carmen or La Boheme on a water-top, custom-built stage, which is said to be bigger than any indoor stage in Sydney.

Whoever said “money can’t buy business” clearly was not looking hard enough. Make your traveling count and treat yourself to any of these luxury destinations, a truly well-deserved reward from all the hard work you did back home.

4 Ways that teaching overseas can enhance your life

Are you thinking of applying for a teaching job abroad? If so, you will be one of the thousands of men and women who have found fulfillment in educating people in another country.

The teaching profession is already a fulfillment in itself. It is one of those jobs where you don’t just do it to earn money, but you also get the chance to invest in the lives of other people. It’s also one of those professions where you might not see the benefit right away, but given enough time and patience, you will see that all your hard work has paid off.

If you are thinking of teaching, then considers jobs overseas. Teaching abroad brings with it other benefits other than the sense of fulfillment. If you are still looking for reasons to convince, check out the ways teaching abroad can enhance your life below.

  1. You get a deeper understanding of another culture – some people live in their own bubble and do not realize just how big and multi-cultural the world is. When you teach abroad, you become exposed to a culture that might be different from your own and you will learn to appreciate the diversity the world has to offer.

  1. You get to experience the benefits of traveling while being paid – if you ever wanted to travel to a new place but did not always have enough money to do so, then teaching is the solution to your problem. You not only get to travel to an exotic country, but you also get a salary which means you can finance yourself and not worry about bills. Most teaching jobs overseas offer a salary that would make teachers live comfortable and still have enough money leftover to enjoy traveling to other places.

  1. It can enhance your career prospects once you get home – many companies, aside from looking for a degree in their qualifications for hiring, are also looking for applicants with real-world experience. When you show that you have what it takes to adapt to new environment and culture, you are showing prospective employers that you are skilled and able to work well in the 21st century where globalization is very important.

  1. You will develop not only communication but organizational skills as well  – it’s a different ballgame when you teach in a country where they do not speak your own language. Your skills to command a room and make people understand you will be tested for sure. It may be difficult at first, especially if you are not used to speaking in front of so many people, but as you keep doing it, your communication skills will improve. Not only that, you will also learn how to have organizational skills, juggling different tasks at once and learning how to manage your time and resources as well.

If you are now convinced and want to know the process that you need to go through, click on the link above to get more information about how you can get a teaching job abroad.

Samurai Burrito Food Review

A new sushi adventure!

Exciting things are happening with familiar ingredients again in the world of sushi and Samurai Burrito is leading the charge from their food truck based out of Orange County California. First there was sushi, then the sushi roll, after came deconstructed sushi bowls, and now inspired by the form and concept of our neighbors to the south we have sushi nachos and burritos! You won’t find any flour or corn tortillas, but why not embrace the “easy to eat on the run” burrito wrap?

Food Trucks like Samurai Burrito offer high quality food in unexpected locations. Sometimes it is hard to chose what to try, in which case I usually pick the most unusual and new. I have come across sushi burritos before, but the Samurai Super Nachos… they were a discovery.

The wonton chips are reminiscent of those found on the table at a Chinese restaurant. They make an excellent base for the overflowing flavors in this dish. King salmon, spicy tuna, eel, masago, and three house sauces are complimented by fresh cut onion to give the Samurai Super Nachos a real kick. Absolutely an item for sharing as it is very rich and the portions are generous.

There are a lot of options for burritos, tacos, bowls, or salads or you can mix and match your favorite ingredients for a personalized experience. Even the selection of wraps for burritos is extensive with traditional options like seaweed and soy paper, or more exotic ones like togarashi and shiso. Some of the items are imported all the way from Japan.

This truck is a refreshing option on a hot summer day so I definitely recommend keeping your eyes open for it. You can also track them down online for their scheduled appearances.

Essential Baby Gear for Traveling

Planning Ahead For Stress-free Travel With Your Baby

Regardless of your mode of transportation, traveling with a baby can quickly become overwhelming. There’s not much that can frustrate a mother more than to have to make an emergency stop for baby supplies with a screaming baby in her arms. Fortunately, a little forethought and planning is all that’s necessary to avoid this happening to you. Here are some suggested essentials to take along as you travel with your baby, so that you’ll be able to handle any emergency.

If you’re lucky, your little one will spend much of her time napping while you shop. To make your baby more comfortable, you should make sure to bring all the comforts of home along with you. If you’re staying overnight at a hotel, call ahead to see if they’ll provide a portable crib, or if you’ll have to bring your own. Also be sure to bring along extra crib sheets and blankets, just in case your baby makes a mess on the ones she’s using, and to ensure that she’ll be warm enough.

Purchase a good sized travel bag and lightweight travel stroller in which you can store all of your baby travel essentials. If you can find one with pockets, you’ll be so much happier. There are so many uses for them for convenient access to diaper pins, snacks, wipes, and other items. Inside your travel bag, pack a diaper changing pad and more diapers than you think that you’ll need. You never want to experience the horror of reaching into your diaper bag, only to discover that you didn’t pack enough diapers!

Also bring at least one extra change of clothing, more if your baby is prone to accidents. (It might also be a good idea to pack an extra shirt for yourself as well.) Pack burping clothes and baby wipes for cleaning up any messes that your baby makes while you’re out. Also make sure that you bring along any powder or creams that you like to use to prevent diaper rash.

You’ll also want to make sure that you bring along feeding supplies, including an electric breast pump if you use one. If you want to bring along expressed breast milk or premixed baby formula, you’ll need to keep them packed separately in an insulated storage container. Use a freezer block to keep them cold. If your baby is on solid foods, remember to pack bottles of baby food or snacks. Also pack all the supplies that you’ll need to feed your baby and a bottle warmer.

If you can, keep your baby’s travel bag packed and ready to go, so that you don’t have to run around gathering things if you have to leave on short notice. That is one of the surest ways to forget something important. Create your own personal baby travel essentials list, and use it when you prepack your travel bag. Planning ahead ensures that your trip out with your baby is a stress-free event, for you and for your baby.

Making Visits to the Dentist Less Frightening for Children

While going to the dentist one or twice a year is common practice for adults, to children, it’s a new and frightening place full of unfamiliar people and objects. The good news is that your child does not have to go through the trauma of the first visit if you as the parent prepare him for what he can expect.

Read books

If you are taking a 3-year-old for their first visit explaining that you want their teeth to remain pearly white and without cavities, isn’t going to bring much comfort. However, if you take out a few books from the library catered to children on the subject and read them the week prior they can get a visual picture of what the office looks like, what the equipment looks like and the process of what to expect page by page. This will allow your child to keep those pictures in his mind and then when he gets to the doctor’s office and the room looks similar to the book he will feel reassured.

Take your child with you for a visit

When children are young they don’t quite understand reasoning like adults, so explaining what to expect doesn’t always offer the outcome you might hope for. Instead, try taking your child with you on your next cleaning to an Orem dentist so that they can see what goes on and how it doesn’t hurt and get a full view of the surroundings. Sometimes when you bring a little one along, a dentist will actually ask to count their teeth to give them a taste of what will happen on their first visit. Once your child sees that the dentist is there to help and make sure everything is ok, then they will settle down and lose the fear.

A mock visit

If you don’t have an appointment scheduled for you for quite a few months and you want to prepare your child for the visit, you can create a mock setting. You can have your child lie back on the couch and then go through the steps one-by-one as they will happen. It’s important when you do this to take your time like the dentist will and answer all your child’s concerns along the way. After, you can reverse the roles and let your child play the dentist and repeat the steps on you on what he just learned. This is a great way to break the fear and make dentist visits more enjoyable.

Distract children at the dentist

Despite all your best efforts, sometimes a child just can’t seem to lose the fear of the unknown. If this is the case, let your little one select a couple of his favorite toys to bring along for the visit. This way when he’s sitting in the big chair looking alarmed at what’s coming, you can begin to distract him and discuss the toys he has with him.

Dental hygiene is important for everyone. Good habits practiced at a young age can prevent serious problems later on like tooth decay, a root canal, a crown and even the loss of teeth. If you prepare your child by making the planned visit seem routine and uneventful, and level with them by discussing everything that will happen ahead of time, when they arrive things will go smoothly.

Spa at the Oaks in Ojai

A Day at The Oaks Spa!

The Oaks at Ojai is a resort and getaway for a few nights stay or for those that just have the day drop in and enjoy their Spa. This is the spot for anyone looking to pamper themselves. The Oaks Spa offers every service you could want in a historic and comfortable setting. Right in the center of Ojai and in the renovated mission style hotel this spa gives off charm and invites you to spend time reaching complete relaxation.

The Oaks Spa covers all of your needs from body and skin care treatments, to the hair and nail salon all in one place. Leave with loose muscles after a full body salt stone massage with pink toes and trimmed hair if that is your ideal day. Or for facial enthusiasts there are a number of options to get your skin glowing!

Body Treatments – The Oaks Spa is a wonderful mix of the traditional Swedish Massage, Deep Pressure, and Aromatherapy with innovative techniques to target joints and the Hot Himalayan Salt Stone Massage. My favorite part is that for the indecisive like myself they have the Ultimate Massage Package that feature six of the massage styles in one 75 min. treatment.

Skin Care Treatments – Some of these might sound like they come out of the kitchen, but you will enjoy every second whether you choose the Ojai Olive Oil Body Soufflé, Seasonal Sugar Scrub, or Aromatherapy Body Salt Glo. The another popular option is the Vita D Brightening Body Treatment or Facial.

The Vita D facial was a new experience for me as a facial first timer, but my esthetician was amazing. When she wasn’t working on applying natural products to exfoliate my skin or wrapping me in Vitamin D, she was gently massaging my hands and feet to relax me. In the end my skin was glowing and so smooth I was shocked.

The entire experience, including all of the lovely people I met in between their treatments, was one worth repeating. In fact some of the women I met in the sitting area were on their regular ladies outing, driving in from all points in Southern California to spend the day at the Oaks Spa. Others were staying at the resort and it was easy to see who had just left a massage, they were walking through the lobby in their robe with mussed hair and a blissed out look on their faces. Ojai is a great place to visit and the Oaks Spa should be on your “To Do” list.
