Essential Tips for the Newbie Caravanner

So you have decided on your first caravan holiday? We can’t tell you enough, the amount of excitement lying ahead of you. Before the actual trip begins, another exciting part is the planning for the trip. The apprehension and preparation is a good boost to look forward to actual caravan holiday.

A holiday with a towing caravan includes many factors like packing essentials, road safety, destination choice, and parking points, etc. However, don’t let it dampen your spirits. We have some essential tips for the newbie caravanner to have a great first caravan holiday.

  1. Make a list, and check it twice. You can never go wrong with a checklist. From kitchen to bathroom, bedroom, outdoors and everything else in between, there are some packing essentials which will let you off on a good start. Check our recommendations here and you will rarely miss a thing on the road.
  2. Check van health. Your caravan and vehicle readiness for the road is an essential part of caravanner preparedness. Lights, tyres and other tool kits like spare fuses, a set of battery leads, extension towing mirrors, and a strong tow-rope along with crisis dealing equipment should hold you in good stead.
  3. Get towing ready. Most new caravanners take time to adjust to twoing. Make sure you have all the basic manoeuvres under control. Parking, reversing, over-taking, etc. take some getting used to. Don’t panic if your caravan is swaying, lower the acceleration and loosen the steering a bit. Be aware of side-winds from larger vehicles and keep an eye on fuel consumption. Fellow caravanners will be happy to help with useful tips.
  4. Practise a set-up routine. After a long time on the road towing for the first time, the last thing you want is a setting-up hassle. Remember, you are on a caravan holiday and stress should not be a part of it. Draw out a set-up routine starting with unhitching your caravan and parking your vehicle away. Steady your caravan and set up gas and water systems. Connect the power and check all appliances. You are now set to enjoy as a caravanner.
  5. Start early, start small. Take it easy on your maiden caravan trip. Remember, you are getting used to everything from driving a tow car, to setting-up and packing for a caravan holiday. Get an early start to avoid morning rush hour traffic, same goes for evening.

Choose a less ambitious, nearby route. If you are within an hour’s drive from home, the return trip will be easier and shorter too. Familiarise yourself with the caravan’s system before venturing out.

There are numerous other things that are equally important, but as a newbie caravanner these essential basics should boost your confidence. For everything else, you can always rely on expert advice from the community and reliable caravan establishments like Camp Smart. Just remember to secure all drawers in the caravan before you accelerate!

Congratulations new caravanner, the great Australian outdoors is waiting to be explored.

Cornwall is one of the UK’s top holiday destinations, and it’s easy to see why. If you’re heading to Cornwall, some locations you don’t want to miss are:

  • Lizard Point – home of an amazing lighthouse and lots of seals
  • Mousehole – the birthplace of the Mousehole Cat
  • Tintagel – the village with the healing waterfall
  • Padstow – renowned for its incredible fish and chips

Go to Devon

Devon might be Cornwall’s rival county but it is also the home of the famous cream tea, in addition to an array of spectacular stretches of pristine coastline, some of the UK’s most breathtaking coastal pathways, and a number of impressive sights and attractions, from model villages and steam trains to theme parks and cathedrals. Devon is also home to some amazing accommodation options, from yurts set in the tranquil countryside to fancy hotels in the city.

If you’re planning on visiting Devon, some locations you don’t want to miss include: the seaside towns of Dartmouth and Salcombe, Exeter cathedral and the city itself, the Seaton Trams, Overbecks Garden, and Killerton House.

Visit Dorset

Devon’s neighbour, Dorset, is another coastal county that’s a popular travel destination with visitors. What sets Dorset aside from other travel destinations is the fact that it is renowned as being the UK’s Jurassic county, with a number of beaches including Kimmeridge, where visitors can search for real fossils hidden in the rocks.

If you’re thinking about visiting Dorset, some locations you don’t want to miss include: Swanage Bay, Corfe Castle (and the village), the Swanage Steam Railway, the lost village of Tyneham, Durdle Door, and Lulworth Castle.

When it comes to travel, the UK has a wide number of fantastic destinations on offer and so many things to see and do.

5 Tips for Choosing a Family Travel Destination

Planning the perfect family vacation can be a stressful time, especially if you have family members of varying ages who all might want or expect different things. You shouldn’t have to overly compromise to find your ideal family destination, however, and there are plenty of opportunities and fantastic destinations out there to find something perfect for everyone.

Think About Those Destinations Which Have a Lot Going On

You don’t want to risk anyone getting bored, and this is more of a risk with younger children. You should consider those family-friendly destinations which have enough to offer for everyone, such as activity-based trips, city breaks to Europe, or the larger theme parks in America. You should research potential activities in advance, and there are great deals online if you’re looking for Disney World tickets.

Consider the Travel Time

The distance you have to travel shouldn’t affect your destination of choice, but it should be considered if family travel becomes an issue. Perhaps very long flights aren’t ideal for your family if you have young children or a baby, and especially if you all have to deal with jet lag. You also have to take into consideration the expense of longer flights.

Decide What Kind of Environment You Would Like

Would your family fare better with a beach vacation, or are you the outdoors type of family who is up for spending time outdoors in more rural or country setting? Are you looking to relax in a quieter setting, or are you after an activity-filled vacation with plenty of buzz?

Understand what your family wants and needs so that you can narrow down the locations available to you.

Think About Your Accommodation

The perfect family trip isn’t just about the destination. Your accommodation will have a huge impact on your holiday, as a lack of comfort, space, or a good night’s sleep will negatively affect your trip.

Family-friendly accommodation like renting an apartment or villa may be more preferable to smaller accommodation options like hotel rooms, because then you have a chance to spread out and still have family time together, such as mealtimes, in a home away from home.

If you are not staying in one place, you could think about renting a motorhome so that your family can still enjoy home-comforts while on the road. Accommodation on wheels will also give you a chance to visit more places at your own pace.

Take Time to Research the Cuisine

Of course, most countries in the world will see that you have a great selection of all different varieties of food, but it’s worth researching because certain places may have more of one type of food than another – and it may be something which doesn’t sit well with younger children or picky eaters. Therefore, think about cuisine before you head somewhere and make sure you have a varied menu selection wherever you choose to go, and one which all the family can agree upon.

Visiting Mexico

visit mexico

Mexico is undoubtedly one of those magical places that just by knowing them once, we realize that we will never forget them and in this article we will talk about two of my favorite destinations, which although I have loved them very much, I would like to share with you, how fascinating Mexico is.

San Jose and Cabo San Lucas: a trip to Los Cabos, Baja California

The nature of the narrow peninsula of Baja California (Mexico), between the Pacific and the Sea of Cortez, gives us beautiful landscapes, mixing the desert sand with the beach, turquoise water and high mountains. And to enjoy the sea, there is no better destination than Los Cabos, at the southern tip of the peninsula.

Approaching to Los Cabos

San Jose is a perfect place to visit the southern tip of the Baja California peninsula. Los Cabos International Airport offers multiple connections to major Mexican cities and direct flights to the United States and Canada at very affordable prices, which thousands of tourists take advantage of every year to take a few days off from their cold winter months. By the way, in San José the hottest months are from June to October, while the rest of the year, from November to May, the temperatures are more pleasant. Especially in the months of February and March, which are preferred by foreign tourists and therefore the busiest months.

Public transportation in San Jose is acceptable, with frequent buses to Cabo San Lucas along the Corredor Turistico, the coastal road that runs through the area of Los Cabos and its beautiful beaches. There are also tourists who stay more days and prefer to rent their own car. The easiest way is use Car Rental Cabo San Lucas with City Car Rental to explore each of the beaches more calmly.

And what is this about the San Jose estuary or estuary?

In a region so dry, where the desert dunes end up in beaches, there is a contrast to the existence of this true oasis. It’s surprising that so close to the urban center of San José there is a protected natural area of these characteristics, which before the arrival of the Spanish gave sustenance to groups of indigenous Pericúes. The fresh water of the San José River descends from the mountains of Baja California and here it mixes with the salt water of the Sea of Cortez. The result is fertile land and a rich ecosystem that is home to a wide variety of flora and fauna.

The city of San Jose del Cabo extends inland from its central plaza, about two kilometers from the coast. From there, to the north, there are more popular neighborhoods and areas and to the south, the Hotel Zone, with golf courses and hotel complexes that reach.

Straight to the Caribbean: Playa del Carmen Mexico

There are several alternatives for tours dedicated to living adventures and ecotourism experiences in the framework of a vacation in Playa del Carmen and its surroundings. These tours are recommended for those who like extreme sports, and also to be enjoyed in the company of family and especially the small travelers. In Cancun, a tourist destination located near Playa del Carmen, there is a formidable zip line, recognized as one of the largest in Latin America; in addition, you can develop enjoyable mountain bike tours, cross the jungle in powerful 4X4 vehicles or explore mysterious cenotes diving.

For those who have decided to spend their vacations in tourist destinations such as Playa del Carmen, Cancun and the Riviera Maya, there are several tours designed exclusively for the adventurous and extreme entertainment in the Yucatan Peninsula, also a great option to take into account is to use a transportation from Cancun airport to Playa del Carmen.

As a start, it is convenient to visit the famous ecotourism parks that are located in this area of the Mexican Caribbean. Perhaps the best of them, because of its size and attractions, is Xcaret, a beautiful ecotourism fun center with beautiful coastal landscapes, underground rivers, Mayan archaeological areas, numerous varieties of animals and plants in the region and much more. Other equally exciting recreational areas that can be known as complementary tours to a vacation in Playa del Carmen, are El Garrafon, Xplor, Rio Secreto and Xel-Ha.

It is important to emphasize how pleasant a certain experience of approaching wildlife can be, which can be lived during a trip to Playa del Carmen and nearby places. We refer to the experience of swimming with dolphins. Children from three years old on, are already able to have this valuable experience of eco diversity and wild empathy. There are many places in the region where Playa del Carmen is located that offer the opportunity to swim with dolphins and this is something that should be taken advantage of by all travelers.

Other points of interest, related to adventure tourism and ecotourism in Playa del Carmen, are the ecological reserves and protected areas that are located in the Mexican Caribbean area. Such places are authentic wildlife refuges, where visitors can observe in exciting circumstances, fascinating species such as flamingos, monkeys, crocodiles, turtles and many other animals.

But also, by enjoying walks through all these beautiful natural areas near Playa del Carmen, travelers have the possibility to practice different recreational activities, such as kayaking, rafting, diving, snorkeling, trekking or camping.

The best hotels to stay during your next trip to the Riviera Maya

In the Riviera Maya, you can find an infinite list of hotels if you search via the internet; however, in this article, we want to inform you about the best options that most tourists have.

Either because of the quality of service they offer or for the low rates, they have become the favorites of tourists.

The best thing is to look for hotels that have all the services included, so you don’t have to go out. However, there is a great variety which is beautiful and worth staying.

Without further ado, we offer a brief list of the best hotels to consider on your next visit to the Riviera Maya!

Hotel Xcaret México

We opened with a significant impact on our list, and the Xcaret Hotel is one of the most popular among tourists internationally, this all-inclusive hotel not only has a beautiful design and an excellent atmosphere.

It also gives you unlimited access to all the Xcaret family parks such as Xplor, Xenses, Xel-Ha, Xavage, Xochimilco as well as tours to Xichen and Xenotes.

To be able to move to these parks, the most recommendable thing would be to do a car rental Cancun Airport by City Car Rental, this to move with more freedom to the park that interests you most.

The restaurant offers incredible dishes that will make you remember or learn more about Mexico’s cultural heritage, definitely a place full of history and magic at the same time.

Grand Palladium Colonial Resort & Spa

With a fresh Spanish colonial touch, the Grand Palladium Resort & Spa is one of the favorite hotels for national tourism, because here you can have access to different amenities and is excellently located.

The spacious and comfortable rooms that this resort has to make it a great option to travel with a group of friends for a fun trip.

Besides having incredible activities to do during your stay in this beautiful Resort, within which is kayaking in the beach area to which this hotel has access.

To make the most of your time here, we recommend hiring a Cancun shuttle transportation so that you don’t have any inconveniences and arrive in time for your check-in.

Paradisus Playa Del Carmen La Esmeralda

Our last recommendation is located in Playa del Carmen; the Paradisus is one of the best hotels in the Riviera Maya, the ideal place to take your family on a relaxing family vacation.

Although this hotel is made to be able to relax and enjoy the beautiful climate of Playa del Carmen and its incredible sunsets by the pool or the beach, many of the tourists who come here prefer to do activities outside the hotel.

For this reason many choose to hire a car in Playa del Carmen, to be able to move more quickly to different attractions of the city such as The Fifth Avenue or the famous “Parque de Los Fundadores”.

China Tells Tourists to Stay Home

China announced the temporary closure of most touristic attractions in the country, as the government launches an aggressive plan to contain and defeat the coronavirus before summer.

According to China travel experts, most of scenic spots are closed in China to prevent the virus from spreading. The annual holiday has been extended to February 9th, and tourists, both local and foreign, are encouraged to stay home and avoid crowded places. It would be an unwise decision to travel to China for tourism these days given that the virus still hasn’t been fully contained and the tourist hotspots are closed anyways. The experts suggest tourists wait at least 2-3 months before booking a China tour or trip.

The coronavirus has already caused a substantial impact on the tourism sector of countries popular among Chinese tourists such as Japan, Australia and Thailand as Chinese tourists have been urged by their government to stay home. The virus is also impacting the local Chinese tourism sector as some of the most popular tourist attractions like the Great Wall, the Terracotta Warriors, the Potala Palace and many others are now closed. Several countries are also ordering their airlines to halt flights to China, in an effort to minimize the chances of the virus making it to their lands.

Chinese government announced the deployment of 52 medical teams and over 6,000 doctors and nurses to Wuhan to help fight with the virus and care for the infected people. Chinese government is making every effort to develop the vaccine to fight against the virus. China has a rich experience in this matter since the SARS outbreak back in 2003.
