Disclosure- I wrote this review while participating in a campaign for Mom Central Consulting on behalf of Kohl’s. I attended a live event and received a promotional item to thank me for participating.
As you know, Kohl’s is now working with Peter Som to bring the fashion of the islands to you. With all of Peter’s pieces under $88, it is more affordable then some other brands. As a frequent traveler, I was looking forward to the event and checking out the new styles. I love this time of year- you know, when winter bites the big one? Spring and summer fashions are a breath of fresh air to most of us, especially after this especially brutal winter.
It was fun talking with Peter Som and stylist Mary Alice Stephenson (a friend of Peter’s, who supported him by wearing his clothes from head to toe). He explained to us his inspiration, and that he wanted to make fashion that made all women look beautiful. Mary Alice took the time to swap out pieces of outfits that ladies in the room created to show how they can better show off certain aspects of the clothing or the body, or even just brighten up the outfit. They both told everyone in the room not to be so “matchy-matchy” with colors and prints- they don’t need to be exact matches, and to try to have more fun with clothing.
Peter Som, my friend Tiffany from Home Grown Families, and I spoke about colors and also how clothing fit some of us larger chested women. It can be a challenge to find things that fit on top, and Tiffany also worries about showing her bra straps. I personally don’t care at all about that, I find it to be a losing battle, and don’t need another layer in the summer, LOL. As long as I’m not showing much of my ladies and the tops actually fit, I’m a happy camper. Peter suggested wearing tank tops underneath for those who worry. He also came by and complimented not one, but two of the outfits we made. Yes, we are fashion geniuses. Or he likes his clothes, you know, whichever 😉 Let’s go with fashion genius, k?
I loved the dresses, all of them. I was not able to wear the silky ones, they would not zip over the ladies. Shame, I LOVED them, but cest la vie, ay? But the cotton ones fit fine, and there were 3 I really wanted to buy. I did end up buying two of them, the multi-colored maxi dress and the blue travel print. I am pining for the black and white shorter one, however…..We shall see about that.
If you are interested in getting some of the newly available Peter Som collection for yourself, head to your local Kohl’s or visit them online. Happy shopping!
What a fantastic opportunity for you to participate in! I think they multi-colored stripe looked gorgeous on you!
Love his style!!! I did attend his Google hangout on Monday and do love all his dresses. Can’t wait to really get to see them in person and touch them. I want that stripped dress you have on.
Those dresses look so fun! I love the black and white one – I wouldn’t mind grabbing that one myself! 😉
I love that long dress. I rarely wear dresses but when I do I like long ones.
Not trying to add insult to injury but I was just looking at the photos thinking I like the black one best on you.
