How to Juggle International Travel and Full Time Study

Traveling internationally whilst studying full-time for your dream job sounds insane – it just doesn’t seem realistic in the slightest. With travel becoming increasingly popular many people have to make the hard decision of either visiting famous destinations of the world or studying for a full-time degree. But I’m here to tell you that you can do both! Thanks to colleges and universities now offering online courses and having access to the technology you need to succeed, it has never been easier to combine your education and see the sites the world has to offer!

Online Degrees

Many colleges and universities offer online study, from courses in marketing to social work. By taking an online course it means that you can learn from anywhere in the world, according to your own personal schedule, giving you the ability to balance your studies around other things happening within your busy life. Most online courses give you the flexibility to complete the course in your own time.

Choosing a Course to Study

Now that you’ve decided you want to take an online degree, you’ve got to decide what course it is you want to study. Make sure you’re passionate about the subject you choose; don’t jump into a degree just for the sake of it. Traveling whilst studying can also aid your education. For instance, if you choose to take a masters in social work, it means you can experience how people in different cultures live and work as you travel. An online social work masters can help you establish your expertise and open new opportunities, such as going into roles within public health, child welfare and correctional social work.

Stay Organized

Attending an online university does give you more flexibility and time when completing your degree, but you still want to keep on top of it all. A great idea is to keep a diary, either an actual, physical, diary or one on your smartphone. This way you know what work needs to be done for your course and you can also pencil in fun sightseeing trips for wherever you are in the world!

Essential Technology

Having the correct technology is essential. Since you are studying an online degree it means that you’ll need a good internet connection to complete those assignments. So you’ll defiantly need a Mi-Fi/USB dongle. These are small, portable devices that mean you can connect to the internet wherever you are, rather than having to rely on finding Wi-Fi connections at hotels or cafes. It is also a good idea to carry a smartphone or tablet, maybe even a small laptop if you find it easier working on one. You don’t want to be carrying anything too bulky when traveling, but you still want to be able to work easily.

Don’t get too bogged down with all your work all at once; space it out. However, don’t just forget about your work to explore fun and new places on your travels. It is all about balance, do a piece of work then do something fun!

Don’t believe when people say that it’s impossible to study and travel, because it is… and you can do it too!

Ensure Your Kids Safety While Traveling, Using a Family Locator App

Whether it is a simple drive to school, a road trip, hang out with friends, after-school soccer practice or playing in the park, parents worry about their kids the moment they step out of the house. It is natural for parents to worry. There are strangers who can get them, they can get into a trouble or their own adventurous spirit can make them wander to dangerous places. Teenagers, especially, are eager to go to such places and are also willing to sneak off to late night parties and hangouts. The recent “killer clown“ incidents have increased the concern two-fold.

pic3

They are just interested in the fun and do not realize the risks. Parents, however, want to be aware of their whereabouts and make sure they are safe. They end up doing two things: either they call their kids every hour or get over stressed sitting at home. Arguments can also arise among independence-hungry teens and worried parents.

All such parents must know about family locator apps among which FamilyTime is a notable name. These apps do not require the parents to call or text their kids all the time, instead, they provide location services.

family travel

With GPS tracking and Geofencing, parents can stay posted about their kids 24/7 and say bye-bye to their worries.

Stay in the loop

It gives you a constant report on your kid’s location. You can view their location history anytime and know where they are or where they have been.

Check for unsafe places

The location history can also tell you if they have been to any dangerous places. Then you can have a conversation with them and warn them from going to those places.

Automatic updates

You can set alerts for different places like school, gym or mall etc. with the help of Geofencing. This way whenever they enter or leave that place, you will be notified. You wouldn’t have to call them to ask if they reached safely or not.

No sneaking off

If you have a Geofence set for your home, your kids can’t go out late without you knowing. If they try to sneak off, you will be immediately informed about their checkout.

Go out of city

Going out of the city can be a little tricky and stressful for parents. But with the extended location history and updates, you can go to your important meeting or family occasion and still stay aware about your kids.

Panic button

If your kids get into any kind of trouble on the road they can call for you by pressing the panic button on their app. You will receive a map indicating their location. This way you can be there for your kids whenever they need you.

Reminders

Workload and untimely meetings can make parents forget sometimes. However, your kids can remind you with a pick-me-up alert and location.

Speed Safety

Over speeding is another concern for parents that can make them really nervous. With FamilyTime you can set speed limits and also get over speed alerts to make sure they are not breaking the rules.

Try FamilyTime on your iOS or Android devices for free.

A family locator app is like a guardian angel that keeps you informed and helps you protect them from road dangers as well. So, instead of worrying your head out, employ a parental control and make your kids safe and sound out on the roads.

Slink and Slither in Wormax.io

fun apps

Multiplayer games come in all shapes and sizes. Today, we’re looking at Wormax.io, which belongs to the “.io” subgenre of browser multiplayer games. If you played an .io game before, you should have a good idea of what to expect: an easy-to-join, hard-to-win battle.

The Gist of It
Wormax.io pits all players against one another. There are no teams, guilds, or clans. Team Deathmatch is non-existent; in this game, every worm plays for itself. The objective is simple: kill other worms. That’s the quickest way to grow and clear your surroundings. There’s no final winner, just a temporary leader (i.e. the longest worm). It’s like Slither.io, but with a bunch of cool bonus features.

Skilled Worms
Wormax.io equips players with Super Skills. These come in the form of Acceleration, Stop, and Ghost. Acceleration works identically to the boost feature in Slither.io—you can activate a temporary speed boost to zoom in front of other players. This allows you to attack others, at the cost of shortening your worm. The other features, Stop and Ghost, and brand-new to the .io genre. Stop allows you to completely halt for up to 5 seconds. This is a great defensive skill, letting you avoid the Acceleration attacks from other worms. The Ghost feature makes your worm transparent, which doubles as invincibility. When you’re a ghost, you can glide through other worms without dying.

Random Abilities
Boosters are another totally new feature in Wormax.io. Five different Boosters appear randomly throughout each match. The Health power-up is self-explanatory, while others are more unique. For instance, the Toxic Booster gives your worm poisonous abilities. If you die, your worm’s remains become toxic, instead of providing healthy food to others. This sneaky feature is perfect for seeking revenge after being attacked. Another interesting Booster is Telescope, which makes the camera zoom out for one minute. This gives you a broader view of the map, which is essential for planning long-range attacks and avoiding incoming bullies.

Being Original
One of the first things I noticed when playing Wormax.io is that hardly any worms look the same. This is because worms come in a variety of colors and patterns (i.e. skins). By sharing a link on Facebook, VK, or Twitter, you can unlock over 40 free skins. Changing the look of your character is a fun way to keep the action fresh. Some of the skins look like other animals, such as cats, cows, and pigs. This also helps the gameplay feel more interesting, since you’re not slithering around a bunch of identical worms.

Designed for Action
Wormax.io doesn’t have levels. When you play a regular game, you’ll be thrust into the arena with hundreds or thousands of other players. How long you last depends on how well you slither. If you want to practice in an easier environment, you can set up a private room to share with friends. That might be easier at first, but jumping right into the action with everyone else is plenty of fun.

The Glow at Monmouth Park Racetrack, NJ

If holiday lights are your bag of tea, or if October is your favorite time of year, you will love The Glow.   The Glow at Monmouth Park Racetrack in Oceanport, NJ is fun for everyone.  This walk through seasonal event is a Halloween lovers dream, with over 5,000 carved pumpkins ranging from pirates, to rock stars, to movie stars, and even dinosaurs and Pokemon carved into them.

pumpkin carving

There is a carving that is destined to be your favorite.  Your visit starts with a warm Fall beverage and a meeting with a real pumpkin artist as he creates a work of art.  Then there is a small tour through some Halloween themed exhibits, with various Jack o Lantern, pumpkin, and Halloween facts on display and indoor pumpkin decor.

halloween events

Then comes the main event, a walk through outdoor light up event where you can go scene by scene through the time of the dinosaurs, an extreme skate park, and more.  There are even local NJ spots like Asbury Park to visit in gourd form.  Check out government officials commemorated in pumpkin, as well as those running for president.  Best thing about those? They rot quickly, LOL.

20161008_185847

Some of our favorites of the night were definitely the 15 foot tall T Rex, the pirate ship along with pirates and loot all made out of pumpkins and carved with intricate detail, and the Pokemon collection.  Some displays are animated, but all of them have ambiance and accompanying sounds to complete the experience.  Once you are done walking through the display there is a chance to walk through a pumpkin patch and get a pumpkin to bring home and start your own display. There is also a little stand where you can buy snacks and drinks- a candy apple and some cider really are a must.

pokemon pumpkin

The Glow is a great way to spend a nice evening  it’s  a fun, family friendly Halloween event, just be sure the weather is co-operating.  The Glow is on display throughout the month of October Friday and Saturday from 6:30 pm to 10:00 pm and from 6:30 to 9:30 Sunday.

A Sweet and Spooky Halloween in Hershey, PA

hershey park halloween

Halloween isn’t quite the way it was years ago, but in some ways — in some places — it’s better! Today, when it comes to the little ones, parents are hesitant to let them wander throughout the neighborhood at night. City dwellers and those who live in remote areas can’t trick or treat. As for older kids – and these days, they’re growing up faster and faster – the holiday should be celebrated on a larger, more exciting and engaging level. What more memorable way for the whole family to get into the spirit (!) than a stay in Hershey, PA. Hersheypark After Dark is the epicenter of all the festivities.

hotel hershey park

Accommodations: There are two different excellent choices to stay, adding to your immersion in the Hershey experience. For that super comfy, homey feeling, there’s Hershey Lodge. High wood beams, warm candy ambient fragrance as you enter, a crackling fire to welcome you and relaxing environment adds to home away from home feeling. The brand new indoor pool complex has two interactive indoor pools, Twizzlers Twists Slides, Reese’s Water Walk, water play structures and the Cocoa Cabana dining location with a full bar. To that end, complimentary shuttle service to all Hershey attractions, the spa and dining spots takes away the stress of driving.

hershey park rides

For an elegant and sophisticated experience, The Hotel Hershey is considered a world-class resort. The tints and hues of the hotel’s “soft goods” harken back to the colors of fine chocolates and caramels. Inside the main building is a shopping arcade that has everything from candies, souvenirs, as well as chic clothing and luxury items. Different themes can be seen in the interior, reflecting upon different aspects of Milton Hershey’s life. An indoor courtyard with recessed bar, lounging areas, Moorish architecture, warm lighting and plants hint at old Spain and the Havana, Cuba to which the Hersheys traveled and conducted business. The hotel has daily activities for both children and adults, incorporating chocolate tastings, making things and other fun past times. Complimentary transportation to all Hershey attractions and local destinations is easy to arrange.

What to do: There’s a delicious, cinematic-like thrill in getting to experience an amusement park “after hours”. HersheyPark After Dark really pulls out all the stops for the spookiest of holidays! You’ll find lots of rides – including 13 roller coasters. The three classic wooden roller coasters, complete with naturally rickety sound, even run without lights during the last hour the park is open. And, of course, what’s Halloween without candy! Throughout the park, you’ll find cute shops selling unusual sizes and collections of your favorite Hershey candies, along with chocolate-themed gifts.

theme park

If Hershey is the “Sweetest Place on Earth”, then Hershey’s Chocolate World must be its capital! Learn how West African cocoa and the rich milk of Central Pennsylvania come together to make one of the world’s favorite treats. Design your own fancy chocolate bar to take home. The gigantic candy store-emporium will create sensory overload, for sure!

hershey park

The Hershey Story – The Museum on Chocolate Avenue is educational on many levels. You’ll learn the inspiring story of Milton Hershey’s life along with the business and philanthropic perseverance he had. Foodies will appreciate fine chocolate tastings and making treats in the Chocolate Lab.

hershey garden

Hershey Gardens was created in honor of Mrs. Hershey’s love of botanicals. They get all into Halloween, with over 150 awesome and cool carved and lit pumpkins. You can pick up candy treats – just like at home – at stops along the way. This part of the celebration is geared towards kids 12 and younger, who are encouraged to wear costumes. It might be October, but the garden is still in bloom, and the roses are both lovely and fragrant.  The butterflies are ready to see and be seen as well- even if they aren’t all decked out for Halloween.

Worry Eaters- for Those Kid Worries @haywiregroup #WorryEaters

worry eaters

Got a kid that won’t sleep due to nightmares?  Maybe they are really freaking out about that first day of school, mom having a new baby, or learning to use the potty.  Perhaps you don’t know why your child is experiencing anxiety. Kids worry about a whole lot of things- it’s a big, bad world out there.  Enter Worry Eaters, adorable, plush, flat-ish toys that kids can snuggle and confide in.  More then that, these toys snack on worries, so have your child tell it what he or she is worried about, or write it down (or you can help with that part if they can’t write yet) and let the Worry Eater chow down- worry, all gone!  (Burp)  It’s also a good way to find out what your kiddo is fretting about if you weren’t sure or you have a quiet child that might be keeping it to themselves- they are likely to tell their new pal, who can help ease the worry. A new snuggle buddy that keeps worries at bay is something a lot of grown ups might like, too.  Get a big one and a little one, why don’t you, and you can both sleep better tonight.

According to parental website KidsHealth.org, “having fears or anxieties about certain things can also be helpful because it makes kids behave in a safe way. For example, a kid with a fear of fire would avoid playing with matches.”  As experienced with the blogger’s son, preschoolers have anxiety about things that aren’t based in reality, such as fears of monsters and ghosts. “As kids grow, one fear may disappear or replace another. For example, a child who couldn’t sleep with the light off at age 5 may enjoy a ghost story at a slumber party years later.”

bad dreams

That sort of strong emotional quotient (EQ) is as important as academic intelligence (IQ) in raising a healthy child. According to Psychology Today, emotional intelligence is “the ability to identify and manage your own emotions and the emotions of others” including “harnessing emotions and applying them to tasks like thinking and problems solving; to regulate your own emotions, and the ability to cheer up or calm down another person.” This video from Speech & Language Expert Sherry Artemenko helps tell the story.

My son enjoyed the Boogie Board- but not as much as my husband. The two of them were kept busy for quite some time. My husband is nearly impossible to tear away from his smartphone, something I find to be one of his more obnoxious traits (hmmmm). So anything that got his attention is clearly something special. My son also liked it quite a bit, and it is great for both home and road trips. It would also be good for a restaurant (while waiting).

The Secret Life of Pets comes to Digital HD November 22, 2016 #TheSecretLifeOfPets #PetsPack

pets-3d

“Ever wonder what your pets do when you’re not home?”

The answer might surprise you just a little bit.  Especially when it comes in the form a wonderfully original animated movie called The Secret Life of Pets.  The movie follows some adorable pets and what the zany adventures they get into while we humans are off at work or school.  One such critter is Max- a terrier living at the king’s life at home until his owner brings Duke home.

kids movie

Duke is quite the large and  boisterous mutt.  When the two new house mates slip away from the dog walker, they find themselves lost in New York City while trying to keep a step ahead of both animal control and a gang of abandoned pets ruled by Snowball, a slightly insane bunny.  The movie is a blast for kids and adults and is genuinely entertaining with some big stars lending their voices to the characters.  Some of the voices include Louis CK, Ellie Kemper, Eric Stonestreet, and Kevin Hart.  The release on home video includes some great extras, as well.

Also are the DVD are Mini-Movies:

Norman Television

Weenie

Mower Minions

  • All About The Pets Kevin Hart and Eric Stonestreet, with the help of animal trainer Molly Mignon O’Neill take you on an educational journey to learn more about your average and not-so average, household pets.
  • Animals Can Talk: Meet The Actors The comedy superstars who give voice to the film’s menagerie of characters talk about their roles and the process of bringing them to life.
  • Hairstylist To The Dogs – Inspired by “Hairspray Live!,” Eric Stonestreet, with the help of a professional dog groomer Jess Rona, will take you through the basic steps to help your pups look as awesome as possible when they’re hanging out with their pet pals.
  • The Best Of Snowball – A rapid-fire, fun and oddly musical mash-up of all the best Snowball one-liners
  • Hot Dog Sing-Along – Join Max and Duke as they perform for their dinner in the sausage factory. This straightforward sing along is fun for the whole family to enjoy.
  • Sing Trailer
  • “Lovely Day” Lyric Video
  • The Humans that Brought You Pets Producers Chris Meledandri and Janet Healy, directors Chris Renaud and Yarrow Cheney, and writer Brian Lynch discuss what went into creating The Secret Life of Pet’s compelling characters and non-stop action.
  • GoPro®: The Secret Life of Pets
  • The Making of the Mini-Movies – A fun and interesting take on the Making of the Mini-Movies – we’ll explore the themes of each of the mini-movies through the eyes of the artists who made them.
