Foreclosure Prevention Assistance @MHA4You #KeepYourHome

pic 11

The Foreclosure Prevention Assistance campaign, a partnership between the Ad Council, the U.S. Department of the Treasury, and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, wants you to be aware of foreclosure rescue and mortgage modification scams.

June is National Home Ownership Month, but many Americans are still struggling to make their mortgage payments. About 1 in 17 homeowners nationwide have fallen behind on their mortgage payments, putting them at a higher risk of foreclosure.

Unfortunately, foreclosure rescue and mortgage modification scams are a growing problem. Scammers will make promises that they can’t keep, such as guaranteeing to “save” your home or lower your mortgage payments, usually for a fee, and sometimes even claiming that they have direct contact with your mortgage company.

Real help is always free. Making Home Affordable is a free government resource that can make paying the mortgage easier for homeowners who are struggling with their mortgage payments.  With free help from HUD-approved housing experts, homeowners can avoid being scammed by those demanding payment for assistance. When it comes to upfront fees, we tell homeowners, “Don’t Pay, Walk Away.”

    • Through the federal Making Home Affordable program, many homeowners have received much-needed help to reduce their monthly payments, get mortgage relief, and avoid foreclosure.Homeowners who are struggling to make mortgage payments can call 888-995-HOPE™ (4673) or visit MakingHomeAffordable.gov for free resources and information to help them deal with their mortgage problems and avoid foreclosure.
    • Telephone scammers often request payment by wire transfer services similar to MoneyGram, or completion of paperwork containing your Social Security Number. Do not make any mortgage payments by wire transfer, or provide any personal information, in response to these calls. If you receive unsolicited calls, always check with your mortgage company using the phone number on your mortgage statement, or call 888-995-HOPE (4673) to check its legitimacy.
      • Beware of telephone calls urging you to take advantage of the Making Home Affordable Program. Beware of anyone seeking to charge you in advance for mortgage modification services. In most cases, charging fees in advance of a mortgage modification is illegal.
      • Paying a third party to assist with your application may not improve your likelihood of receiving a mortgage modification. Beware of individuals or companies that ask you for payment, tout their success rate, or claim to be Making Home Affordable (MHA) or Home Affordable Modification (HAMP) experts.
      • The Making Home Affordable (MHA) housing counseling experts at 888-995-HOPE™ (4673) are available around-the-clock (24 hours a day, 7 days a week), in over 170 languages, and at no cost. They will help homeowners understand their options and design a plan to suit their individual situation.

Worldwide, Child Friendly Vacation Ideas

Cruise and products 135

Opening your kid’s minds through travel is so important. Getting the kids to experience new things and different cultures is essential for their development and growth. But it’s not always the easiest thing to travel the world with the kiddos in tow. If you want to find a family friendly getaway, try one of my top ten suggestions below.

Cities

Cities breaks are always a good idea. There is so much to do packed into such a small place, usually with good travel links. So it is easy and cheap to get around with all the family.
London

London is a great city for kids because there is so much to see and do there. You can take them on an open top bus tour to see all the sites. Or ride on the London Eye to get some great views over the Thames. Grab some fish and chips or even more exotic street food from the many permanent markets in the city. Kids of all ages will love the hands-on experiments at the National Science Museum. Don’t forget to pop across the street to the dinosaur walk in the Museum of Natural History too! Older children will get a thrill out of the London Dungeon, but watch out, as it can be pretty scary, so young or sensitive kids should probably avoid it. Why not take them for a browse round Hamleys, London’s most famous toy shop instead!

Berlin

Keeping with the European theme, why not take the little ones with you on a trip to Berlin? It’s a great chance for them to be exposed to another language, and you can use an app like this to help them practice before they go. Make use of one of the many pools and Lidos in the city if you are traveling there over summer. Don’t forget to take the kids to Legoland Discovery Center for some ‘building with bricks’ fun. If your children are picky eaters, you might want to go self-catering as they might not take the German cuisine. Although French fries are very popular and are always a good fall back plan.

Beach Holidays

Kids and adults alike love beach holidays. The kids can splash in the sea, build sand castles and generally have fun running around outdoors. While it provides mom and dad a chance to relax on a sunlounger and perhaps enjoy the odd cocktail.

Spain

Still staying in Europe, Spain is a fantastic beach holiday location for families with children. It gets pretty hot, so it’s important to make sure your little ones are staying hydrated. Go for an all-inclusive hotel so you don’t have to worry about paying for the kids snack and drinks throughout the day. Pick a family friendly resort rather than one that is predominantly designed for couples or adults. This means no one will complain if the kids get a bit boisterous and make a bit of noise. It’s a good idea to pick a resort that has a water park, similar to this one we went to in the Poconos, for something extra to keep them entertained. Many all inclusive sites allow early dining for those with young families. They also provide a schedule of supervised entertainment including sports and craft activities. While the kids are busy, you can get some precious relaxation time.

Maldives

Another option for a family beach holiday is the picturesque Maldives. There is endless sea life for the kids to discover while swimming in the ocean, or you can get a room with a private pool. If you have older children, you could go for one of the iconic stilt houses, with a glass bottom. Then you can see all the fish swimming under you. However, they are not the cheapest option, and it’s a lot of water around if you have small kids, so it might not be worth the anxiety of they are under 10.

Theme Park Vacations

If keeping your kids amused is an essential item of the list, then why not consider a holiday to a theme park. The larger ones all have associated hotels so you can stay for a week or so and get to experience all the attractions on offer.

Disneyland

Of course, the most famous of these is the Disney Franchise. They now have parks all over the globe including Paris, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Japan and Hawaii as well as the US. So you can choose to stay closer to home or experience a different culture while you partake in the Disney Magic.

Europa Park

If Disney is a bit too sickly sweet for you, why not try Europa Park in Germany? Some of the rides here at seriously scary, though, so make sure your little ones are up for some thrill seeking before booking the tickets. Check out the megacoaster Blue Fire, which hits speeds at nearly 100km an hour or ridiculously high hypercoaster Silver Fire. Of course, there will be height restrictions on this attraction, so it is probably a better location for older kids and teenagers.
Skiing Holidays

If you want something thrilling but theme parks aren’t you thing, why not take your kids on a winter skiing holiday? Starting kids off early on the baby slopes is a great way to improve their balance, and get them interested in Sport. Children tend to be less self-conscious and have far less fear than grown up too, so they are likely to make quicker progress.

Canada
One of the most beautiful places to ski in the world is Canada. Taking your kids up to the Rocky Mountains can be a real experience for them, especially if you are living in a city or the suburbs. It’s good for them to get out in the open and experience all that space and scenery. Rent a chalet with a hot tub to ease your aching bones after a hard day on the slopes. Just don’t be surprised if you kids are better skiers at the end of the holiday that you are.

Switzerland

Another beautiful place to take the family skiing in Switzerland. Here you’ll give your little one the chance to experience traditional Alpine culture and food. They’ll love fondue! You can also take the cog train, a vertical tram, up to explore all the little villages around the mountains. The quant Winteregg is tiny, but has spectacular views, and mountain walks to complete.

Cruises

If skiing sounds a bit too cold for your vacation, why not go for a cruise? They are perfect for seeing the world, but also having the benefits of hotel style comforts and entertainments. You often get one or two days on board and then get to disembark and explore a new location. Also, they are probably not as expensive as you think they are. Check out the Bolsover cruise club website to compare prices.

A World Cruise

A world cruise can be costly and time-consuming, taking up to a month, but you can see so much of the world this way. Many cruise ships dock in the local ports so you can just get off and go. There are lots of things for the kids to do on board such as cinema screenings, swimming pools, and craft activities. It’s also possible to book organized tours with your cruise line so that you can make the best of your short stops around the world. But ensure that they are suitable for your child and don’t involve anything dangerous or too much walking for their little legs.

A Family Cruise

You can also pick a cruise specifically run for families with kids, such as the Disney ones on offer. They go to destinations all over the world and are a great compromise between a more typical holiday and a theme park experience. On board, you will have access to shops, deck parties, character experiences and specialist events like the Star Wars at Sea day. The kids also have their own youth club, so it’s easy for them to make friends and stay entertained, giving you some time to relax as well.

Traveling To India With The Kids: 6 Useful Tips

09 10 09 213

India is a beautiful and dazzling country, brimming with culture and tradition. It makes for an interesting and educational trip. Children will love it. There’s so much to do and see. To make the most of your vacation, follow our family-friendly tips.

  1. Before You Go

Before you leave, plan your journey carefully. Find areas that are family-friendly. Read as many India travel tips as you can, and check out online reviews.

Research travel destinations and put together a rough itinerary. Leave some space to be flexible. You’ll find you encounter lots of new things when you arrive. It’s worth leaving some free time to be spontaneous.

Budget accommodation generally means tiny rooms with pull out cots. Check with the hotel before traveling. Online reviews are invaluable.

  1. Prepare For the Climate

Check out the weather before you travel and ensure that you have adequate clothing. High season is between December and March. During those months the days are warm and the nights are cool. April and June are the hottest months. The mountains are cooler at these times but can be crowded.

  1. General Precautions

Always check out the US Dept. of State Alerts and Warnings before traveling abroad.

Pickpocketing can be an issue in some regions. Take precautions and keep valuables secure. Padlock your luggage for extra security.

Take hand sanitizer and use it when you can.

Ensure you undergo any relevant vaccinations before you travel. Malaria is a risk in India, so do take precautions. Use repellent and cover up in the evenings. Sleep under a mosquito net where possible.

Take a first-aid kit with basic supplies. It should include tablets for diarrhea, general painkillers, and antihistamines.

If you feel dehydrated, coconut water is delicious and will rehydrate you.

  1. Getting Around

If you’re traveling through India, kids will love the tuk-tuks for short journeys. For longer journeys, the bus can be challenging for young children. Trips tend to be long, and there are few rest stops. Train journeys are easier, but you should expect delays.

  1. Eating

Depending on your destination, eating may not be as tricky as you think. Many destinations offer kids’ favorites like McDonald’s, pizza, and toasted sandwiches. Encourage kids to try some of the local cuisines. There are lots of tame versions available. For sensitive palates stick to veggie options and boiled rice. Stock up on fresh fruit as snacks for journeys.

  1. Activities

There is no end to the activities in India. The International Kite Festival takes place in January and is stunning. Festivals take place in most regions and are certainly worth a visit. For adventure activities, check safety and credentials with organizers.

For many children, India is different to anything they have ever experienced. It is a thriving and vibrant country. Children will be enthralled by the bustle, color, and culture. With a little research and planning, you can choose the best destinations and make the most of your vacation. It will be a holiday that you and your family will never forget.

How to choose a mattress topper that is best for you

If you want to add comfort or support to your mattress, or you want to help make the mattress last longer, buying a mattress topper is a good idea. They can give you that extra bit of comfort or support you need in order to get a good night’s sleep, and they can add a layer of protection which helps to give your mattress a longer life.

If you want to buy a mattress topper for your bed there are several different types of toppers and pads to choose from. They are made from different materials and tend to fall within different price ranges. We are going to take a look at three of the different mattress toppers you will find in sale and tell you what to expect.

Traditional egg create mattress topper

This is the type of mattress topper you see most commonly. It has the familiar egg crate design. The reason way this type of mattress topper is so popular is mostly because it is usually the cheapest to buy. It provides a sufficient level of comfort and some support. One of the best things about egg crate mattress toppers is that they are really easy to handle. This means that they can be rolled up and taken with you if you want to use your mattress topper at a different location.

Wool mattress toppers

If you suffer from allergies then investing in a wool mattress topper might be a good idea. This type of mattress topper is created using natural products. In addition, the use of wool in making these mattress toppers means that they are really soft. If one of these mattress toppers appeals to you then you need to check out the cleaning instructions. Quite often this type of mattress topper can only be steam cleaned or dry cleaned.

Memory foam mattress toppers

Memory foam is becoming an increasingly popular material in the creation of mattress toppers, just as it is in making of mattresses and pillows. The major selling point of memory foam is that it makes use of the heat of the body to help it mold around you when you sleep. This means that you get high quality support for your body and specifically for your pressure points. If you suffer from back or neck pain having this support can help to ease the pain you are in. Many people aim to buy a memory foam mattress but find the cost too expensive. They end up opting for the cheaper memory foam mattress topper instead. This gives them the additional support they are seeking.

Each of the mattress toppers we have described is a popular choice. People have their own reasons why they opt for a particular type; it could be a cheaper price, a softer feel or more support. Hopefully we have given you enough information to help you be able to make a decision about which mattress topper is the best choice for you.

4 Questions To Ask Yourself about LASIK #VisionGoals

Disclosure- This post contains shared information on behalf of the client. All opinions are his own and honest. For more, see “I Disclose” .

pic3

My husband has glasses, he has worn them since he was in high school. He didn’t find out he needed them until it was time to take his driving test, if you can believe that. He’s worn them since, and the strength of the prescription has gotten higher every few years.

He sometimes loses, but more often breaks his glasses. It’s not just costly and a nuisance, but it also impairs him. He really can’t see well without them, so it messes up his work, he can’t drive, and things like this until he gets to his backup pair (and we order another pair, as well). It’s annoying, but also stops him from doing some normal daily activities.

He’s often thought about LASIK, but between the cost, and wondering if it really works, and being freaked out by the surgery, he just has a lot of questions.  It is a lot of money to spend, but then again- so are all the eye appointments and glasses and replacements.

What is the best money you have ever spent on yourself? Was it a vacation? An outfit or pair of shoes? Maybe it was a gadget or “toy” such as a jet ski or an ATV. But if you ask someone who has had LASIK, they will likely tell you that having great vision — without needing to rely on glasses and contacts — is not only worth the cost of LASIK; but, the best money they’ve ever spent.

Maybe you’ve looked into having LASIK, but the $4,000-$5,000 price tag has you wondering: Is it worth the money? Sure, there are discounts and deals to be had, but perhaps you should put the cost of LASIK into perspective. For example, think about how much you are already spending on vision correction. LASIK starts to look like a pretty good deal once you add up a lifetime of buying glasses (over and over again) or contact lenses (plus solutions, drops, cases, etc.). How much have you spent on something that lasts a week or two, a month or two, a year? Even the best car you ever own likely won’t last you as long as your good vision with LASIK will. Depending on when you have LASIK, you can expect to enjoy its benefits for years – even decades.

Still wondering if the cost of LASIK is worth it? Here are four questions to ask yourself to help put the investment into your vision correction options into perspective:

How old are you?

The younger you are, the longer you will need vision correcting glasses or contact lenses. The longer you need them, the more you will spend on them. However, if you choose to have LASIK sooner rather than later, you can expect to have great vision without glasses and contacts for years. However, LASIK doesn’t stop the aging process. It can improve your current vision, but you will likely still experience age-related vision issues down the road. This may mean you will need reading glasses at some point.

Do you have insurance?

If you do, count yourself lucky! Many vision plans help cover some of the costs of glasses and contacts, but won’t take care of all of your vision correction expenses. You also have to factor in whatever you are paying in insurance premiums into the overall cost of your vision correction. Did you know some vision policies offer discounts toward LASIK and other vision correcting procedures? Check your benefits because you just never know what might be covered.

Are you into fashionable frames and the latest lenses?

Even if your insurance covers the purchase of glasses, often the cost of the frame styles you want won’t be covered entirely. Same goes for certain protective and/or antiglare coatings or lens technologies. There is usually a limit on the number of pairs of glasses insurance covers in a given year. So if you need prescription sunglasses, lose a pair of glasses or also need reading glasses, you should expect to pay for those on your own.

What kind of contact lenses do you wear?

Popular daily disposable contacts, on average, cost about $600 a year. So over 20 years, you will spend $12,000 — or more than twice the cost of LASIK — using the most advanced technologies available today. You should know that, as your eyes age, your prescription is likely to become more complicated, resulting in more expensive contact lenses. If you are using hard or soft lenses, the cost of solutions, drops and the cases required to maintain them in a sanitary fashion can quickly add up as well.

Today, there are many ways to pay for LASIK. In addition to helping you decide if vision correction surgery is right for your eyes, your surgeon may have access to financing services to help pay for your procedure. Some plans have extended periods with no interest that allow you to pay overtime without incurring additional costs. Check out Finding Ways to Pay for LASIK to learn more ways to help make the cost of LASIK affordable.

So do the math for your own vision correction choices to see if LASIK is a smart investment for you and your vision goals.
