My son loved this movie, and we had a great time watching it. He finds Po hilarious, and he has enjoyed all the movies.  We got to get ready for our Panda Party with his friends in style. There was a fun package full of pandas, keychains, reusable teabags, a dumpling book, and more. He was excited to share not only the movie but also the pandas with his best buddies.

20160627_153742

We would like to try our hand at dumpling making, but for this party, we got lazy and just ordered Chinese food. I’ve never made them before, and I have a feeling it will take me a few tries before I really get the hang of it.  My son likes to cook with us, so I think he will have fun figuring it out with me.

20160627_154013

We had some fun Chinese food (including dumplings, of course) while we watched the movie.  Since they are Po’s favorite, we had to get some for our movie night. These are crab and shrimp, which are my son’s favorite. He likes both steamed and fried- have you tried them like this?

20160618_145714

My son also liked all the little pandas eating all the noodles and dumplings in the movie, and wanted himself and his friends to have noodles and dumplings while watching the movie.

Check out this fun clip from the new movie. The clip, voiced by Po (Jack Black), delves into the history and background of the supernatural villain Kai and the origin of his frightening jade Jombies!

One of you can win a movie of your own.  Please feel free to enter to win using the RC form below. Ends Aug. 12, 2106. Good luck!

Design the Royal Gown in Princess Fashion Dress Up

girls app

One of my favorite ways to have fun with my daughters is playing games. When my husband and I had our first child, there weren’t many free kids’ games available on the Web. These days, there’s a seemingly endless supply of titles in every genre. One of the most child-centric gaming spots, and my personal favorite, is Poki. They recently released Princess Fashion Dress Up, and that’s what I’m reviewing today.

If you haven’t played dress-up games before, I recommend you start with this one. Much like clothes in the real world, dress-up games come in all shapes, colors, and sizes. Princess Fashion Dress Up from Poki is a straightforward game that’s easy to learn. Newbies to the genre and experienced fashionistas will feel right at home.

Instead of showcasing a disorganized closet filled with mismatched threads, this game lays out every clothing item very clearly. By pressing a button, you can view every dress, cape, or necklace. There are no menus to scroll through, no disappearing items, and not a single ugly item in the closet. Poki has streamlined the dress-up process, presenting only the 10 best choices in every category. If you want to really delve into the world of fashion design, you can modify nearly every item with custom colors.

Princess Fashion Dress Up is about a royal daughter, and she looks like one straight out of a fairy tale. Unlike other dress-up games, this one doesn’t include a host of different characters. There aren’t any celebrities from real-world pop culture, singing gals from Frozen, or students from Monster High. In this game, you get to dress one princess, and that’s really all you need. If you’re inclined to change her auburn hair, you can select a new style and color from a variety of chic looks. There are regal hairdos, straight hairstyles, and elegant buns. Even a slightly different hue of red or orange can be enough to complement a lovely dress perfectly.

In order to truly achieve perfection, the princess needs a one-of-a-kind set of jewelry. Thankfully, Princess Fashion Dress Up includes all types of headdresses, including glitzy tiaras and flowery headbands. Most of the headwear is available in dozens of colors, allowing you to be as creative as you wish when piecing everything together. There are also mix-and-match sets of earrings and necklaces, many of which are also customizable. If you want the princess to wear blue earrings and a purple necklace, you are free to tweak her jewelry accordingly. You can choose a pair of pretty slippers for the future queen, but a floor-length dress will cover her feet. Nonetheless, it’s nice to know that the princess is bedazzled from head to toe!

After completing the entire ensemble, it’s time to take a picture of the royal beauty on her balcony. A pink dragon will sneak into the frame, but thankfully, he’s friendly. Making last-minute changes to the outfit isn’t a problem, because every choice is saved until you start over. So, let your daughters play Princess Fashion Dress Up, and see if they like it as much as my family does!

New Summer Toys

Looking for some fun new toys this summer?  Here are a few new items we think your kids will love.

P60718-002838

Hamsters In A House by ZURU might bring to mind another toy craze from a few years ago, and we admit there are likenesses.  These little hamsters are small (though not so small your kids can swallow them) and and soft and furry. They buzz and scoot around any smooth, flat surface, as well as in their own little “ecosystems”.  There are several houses, like the luxurious “Ultimate Hamster House”, that has a bed, slide, and even a toilet that makes flushing sounds.  Every kid loves that best, potty humor goes a long way. Put the hamsters on any hotspot, and the phrases are activated. ($30) There are also Hamster and Accessory Packs that range from styling studios, to cars, and more parts for their runs (think train tracks for the hamsters). The cars are cute, and come in blue and pink. 9$ and up.
Available exclusively at Toys”R”Us. HamstersInAHouse.com /

P60718-003038
Micro Boats are so much fun for summer (and will be great year round as well).  They are water-
activated (put them in water and they go) and once dry they stop. These self-steering, fully motorized speed boats are lots of fun in tiny size. There are six individual boats available. $10

There is also the Micro Boats Shark Attack Challenge Playset that lets you put the boats into a set with a water filled track, and race to stay away from each other and a shark.  There is also a real working crane. One boat comes with the set.  $25 ZURUMicroBoats.com /

Finding Dory Toys

Disney•Pixar’s Finding Dory Robo Fish Collection is out just in time for the Finding Dory movie.  If your kids are Nemo fans, they will love this movie as well. Dory and Nemo (and all their friends, as well as some new ones) are back and having some summer fun.  The Disney•Pixar Finding Dory Coffee Pot Playset is my son’s favorite, because he can carry Dory around in a Coffee Pot Playset just like in the movie.  Of course, it works with any other character you’d like to put into it as well, but it only comes with Dory.  $19.99  The additional Disney•Pixar Finding Dory Small Characters are also available as
RoboFish, which move as soon as they are in the water. Your kids can recreate all the Dory fun from the movie, and make up new scenes all their own.  They can also “just keep swimming” with them in the bath, pool, wherever. Dory, Nemo, Marlin and more are available. There is a  “power save” mode that automatically switches off after one minute in the water. $11.99 each. Available in Walmart, Toys R Us, and more.

If your kids can’t get enough Angry Birds, you are in for a treat. Spin Master has released everything from playsets, to collectable figures, to zooming toys, and more are available. Launch your bird at the pigs to save your eggs in the Angry Birds Pig City Strike Playset, which comes with launcher, bird, pigs, and stackable city (just like in the app!).  Victory is yours as the city comes crashing down. Small collectable figures can add to sets, or be played with solo (my son does both).  The large vinyl figures are great for launching or using as a ball- they are just the right size.  Angry birds come to life as you throw them into your blocks, playsets, and more. They do bounce, so they can go off walls and such as well. Angry Birds Speedsters are fun as well, and ready to roll on any flat surface. Wind them back, and let them go- and they are off and ready to crash into whatever you launched them into. Prices vary- available at Toys R Us, Amazon, and more.

The Quintessential Idaho Road Trip

20140805_125144

Idaho is an ideal place for a road trip. It’s chock full of scenery, attractions, great eateries, and fantastic places to stay. Virtually every route you take in Idaho has benefits, so to help you get started, here are some of the very best places to take in during your Idaho road trip.

Boise

Boise is a great place to be if you have a family. There are many museums in the heart of the city including a fabulous art museum. There’s also Zoo Boise and the Idaho Botanical Gardens, both of which make a good half-day’s fun. If your crew is more historically inclined, you could try the Old Idaho Penitentiary. There are self-guided tours, and some visitors have reported seeing ghosts!

No trip to Boise would be complete without taking in some of the city’s gorgeous natural wonders. There are plenty of riverside trails for a leisurely stroll or bike ride, and it truly takes you some of the best places Boise has to offer. There’s also the World Center for Birds of Prey, which is a bit off of the beaten path, but your kids will learn a lot about various birds of prey and the staff is fantastic.

Hell’s Canyon National Recreation Area

Hell’s Canyon is widely known for being the deepest river gorge in North America. If your family likes adventure, this is the perfect spot to travel to. There’s so much to do here: hiking, biking, camping, fishing, winter sports. Make sure to schedule a float trip if your kids are old enough as it’s a great way to truly experience the canyon.

Lake Coeur d’Alene

This well-known lake spot truly lives up to the hype. There really is something for everyone here. Top-notch fishing charters abound, and there are plenty of well-kept, reasonably-priced campgrounds at which to cook your fish at the end of the day. Water sports abound; you can rent boats, canoes, and jet skis or leave it to the professionals and take a chartered boat tour. Lake cruises are also a popular choice, and you can even take a dinner cruise if you’re inclined to enjoy a meal. Coeur d’Alene also hosts many wine tastings for the adults on the trip. You will have no trouble finding cuisine to fit your taste and budget. Ask a local for the best place to eat.

Shoshone Falls

Although Idaho is filled with breathtaking waterfalls, Shoshone Falls is one of the best in terms of both beauty and accessibility. Located along the Snake River, it plunges 212 feet. It’s a perfect choice for a relaxing picnic while the rush of the falls relaxes you. There are plenty of facilities to keep your family comfortable including hiking trails, a swimming area, an overlook, playgrounds, and restroom facilities.

Yellowstone National Park

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve likely heard about many of the awesome sights and activities that Yellowstone has to offer. There are rivers, mountains, lakes, streams, forests, geothermal features and geysers, and of course, the wildlife. One of the best ways to see Yellowstone is to go in the spring or fall. You’ll avoid the maddening crowds and you’ll be better able to take in everything that the park has to offer.

Whatever your road tripping desires, Idaho has something for you and your family. Happy travels!

Pack Light but Get These 3 Stylish Accessories to Make All Your Travels Fabulous

Traveling is an important part of our lives and an experience one shouldn’t avoid. But when it comes to traveling, many trade style for comfort in all aspects. Once upon a time, men and women used to travel wearing tuxedos and evening gowns. While our fast paced world doesn’t encourage such inclinations, this doesn’t mean a modern girl shouldn’t pack a few stylish accessories to take a short city-break or a week-long vacation. After all, to look good means to feel good – even if you walk unbeaten paths or enjoy hip summer resorts.

There are plenty of resources on how to travel and pack light for a week’s vacation and you should follow such expert tips and tricks. Fortunately, some stylish accessories for stylish travel girls are weightless but so important! They add just a bit of sparkle and glam to a traveler’s outfit, even if you prefer jeans, boots and tees or boho summer dressed and strappy sandals. Let’s see together three

pic4

such fabulous accessories you just have to take along to look great and feel just the same!

1. A Pair of Nude Flat Strappy Sandal

If you are headed to an exclusive beach resort, an old European capital or a safari adventure at the end of the world, a pair of nude summer strappy sandals will be your best friend. Nude shoes in general are a girl’s best companion as they match any type of outfit and they make your feet look longer and slimmer. You can wear practically anything with them and they will make you look effortlessly chic.

  • Tip for picking the best nude sandals: when you buy nude footwear make sure the shoes shade matches your own skin shade. If you intent to get a good tan or are already featuring a gorgeous summer tan, make sure the sandals’ nude shade is equivalent to your skin’s one.

2. A Pair of Trendy Sunglasses

Many experts advise you to leave home your designer shades when you go to festivals, concerts or crowded outdoor events, camping and so on – they may get broken or stolen and it would be a shame. However, take your favorite pair of shades when vacationing and store them safely in a hard case when you don’t need them. There are plenty of hot sunglasses designs nowadays and you should always have one pair (if not two) when you travel.

  • Tip for picking the best sunglasses: always choose your sunglasses according to your face shape. There are plenty of tips to find the pair that looks great on you!

3. A Pair of Lever Back Pearl Earrings

Many say you should always take junk jewelry when you travel, but a pair of pearl earrings with a lever back that keeps them safe and hard to lose is the best type of jewelry you can bring along in a trip. Pearls are exquisite, feminine, discrete and sophisticated. They go with sporty outfits styling them up, with casual urban outfits, giving them a note of elegance and with chic stylish clothes. After all, a vacation doesn’t mean endless mountain hiking.

Even if you spend a week in a beach resort you still need to style up to attend a concert, have dinner in a restaurant, take part to a local event and so on. Pearls rise up to all expectations and match all types of clothes, enhancing your natural beauty and adding a dash of femininity and sophistication to all possible attire.

  • Tip for picking the best pair of lever back pearl earrings: Choose a pearl color, hue and overtone that match your skin tone, as the pearls’ purpose is to highlight your best features. Take a look at the tips and recommendations on PearlsOnly to learn how to choose the perfect pearl jewelry.

You probably know this already, but any trip of any type requires a stylish hat. You can style up any jeans-and-tank-top outfit with a modern straw fedora. A laidback straw panama hat goes also great with summer dresses and outfits that involve wearing short or long trousers. If you are the bohemian type of girl, a wide brim feminine beach or city hat will keep you protected and stylish. If you feel a tomboy at heart or your destination involves a sporty military style outfit you can also wear a bandana, a military cap or a newsboy style of cap. Have fun in your travels and enjoy a fabulous summer vacation!

Meizu M3 Note

Disclosure- we have received the below in order to facilitate this review.  All opinions are our own and honest. For more, see ” I Disclose”.

Meizu M3 Note

Pic via Meizu

In the world of smart phones there are basically two choices, apple based phones or android based phones.  But once you get a bit deeper into it, you find the android phone base is quite varied and covers a wide stream of options.  If you want to or need to upgrade, and need something a little less expensive, I suggest taking a look at one of the best selling smart phones to come out of China recently- the Meizu M3 Note.

This phone is based on the YunOS Flyme 5 system, which is very similar to Android but tweaks it a bit, so you will have something a little different, but not un-usable.  The phone itself packs quite the hardware punch as well, with a MT6750 processor and 2/3 GB LPDDR3 Ram using a 64-bit 8-core A53 processor core.  The phone itself works on the VoLTE call network, TD-LTE/Fdd-LTE/TD-SCDMA/WCDMA/CDMA/GSM with 6 modes and 18 frequencies available.

Meizu phone

The phone physically is attractive, with a rounded edge and many color options. It has a nice weight in your hand and is easy to spend a long time using apps, games, texts, phone calls, etc.  What you will notice right off the back is there is only one button on the front of the phone, where usual Android phones feature 3.  This may seem like a difficult learning curve to get around but this is not so, the button simply takes control of both the home function and the back function, this button is called mBack. It did take me a little bit to get used to it, and to figure out how to make all “the things” do what I wanted them do, if you know what I mean.

The phone also has 2 cameras. The outward facing one has a Samsung /OV 13-megapixel sensor, f/ 2.2 aperture.  This camera supports 13 megapixel zero-delay pictures as well as 1080p full-HD video.  The inner camera sports a 5-megapixel OV5670 sensor with FotoNation smart beauty and face AE exposure for selfies.  The photos were OK in quality, a bit slow to take, but not as sharp as some phones on the market.  The price reflects this.

pic4

These photos are taken from the same distance, indoors with less then ideal lighting, both on “auto” lighting/flash, with no filters used on either.  They are both first photos taken with each phone, (no “do-overs” or re-trys)  with no alterations made.  The one on the right is the Meizu M3 Note, the one on the left is a Samsung 7.

The M3 Note is great fun to use and comparable to current cell phone models from popular American brands.  The apps can be glitchy, IE “Pokemon Go” has given me lots of issues on this model (slow load, failure to load, “error” messages, etc), and Twitter crashes more often then on other phones I’ve used, but my husband has used several game apps on the phone with no issues and Facebook and Instagram and all of those major ones work fine.  It for sure works better with WiFi in my opinion.

What we particularly like about the M3 Note is its power and battery usage.  The battery sips power and works like a power house zipping through new apps and games.  I can leave it for 3 days with no charge if I’m using it normally, which is pretty amazing. To me, that’s the best feature.  It’s also much less expensive then other brands, so if you are in the market, give it a look.

Have You Met Our New Puppy?

Well, we got lost on a roadtrip recently, and accidentally got a puppy.

Mostly it happened like that, LOL.  My son has been begging for a puppy for the longest, and when we say this face, I just broke down.

pic12

Meet Theodore Jamison Roosevelt, part president, part chipmunk.  The name seems to work, but he’s usually just Teddy.  Cooper and he get along well, with Cooper usually letting the new baby walk all over him, poor Coop.  LOL.  Such a pushover.

Puppy Kindergarten starts this week, hopefully he will be a good pupil.  He has gotten “sit” and “cookie” and “outside” down- now, to master the leash and doing his business outdoors ALL the time, ha.

I’m sure you will see plenty of Teddy in upcoming posts.  Cooper likes “mothering” him, and my son is thrilled.  And no more dogs, says mommy!  LOL.
