Got Pirates on the Brain? A Totally Twisted Review

With all the Pirates of the Caribbean whhhoooo-ha!  and not to mention it was hard to resist- being as “Twisted” of a scavenger as I am…but I love this costume.  Perfect!  (And really- who doesn’t love a good pirate costume?)

Last year’s Halloween party at the Pre-k was so much FUN!  Little Man was Iron Man, the kids all looked adorable, and I….didn’t have a good costume to wear.  LOL.  I have a few costumes, but, none that I would wear to a PreSchool.  One is too expensive (medieval garb, and was really, really expensive- did I say REALLY enough?) so there was no way I was going to let the kiddos near that one while I am schlepping sippy cups of bright red juice and chocolate candy.  No way.  One is from my “former life” with my former body…doesn’t fit (yet!)
So….I kind of patched one together.
This year, I am going to look fab for the party- and appropriate! Wholesale Costume Club  has tons of costumes, and I love that they come in a variety of sizes.  For those of us above a size 8, one size never “Fits All”.  I so hate that!  I’d rather see the plus size costumes then try to squeeze into something that just isn’t going to happen.  Or, if you have a chest, good luck finding something that fits, that doesn’t make you look quite…inappropriate.  Lets go with that.

GFC- what’s up with this, #Google?

Come on, now #google, what is up with you?  What’s your major malfunction?
For realsies, first you drop blogger for days, then about a billion blogs won’t function in Mozilla/Firefox, now you have lost everyone’s GFC/they are not working?
It’s bad enough you can’t seem to update your stats, and there are late-to-the-game people who can’t figure out that your PR is old news, but now you mess up- what?  EVERYTHING else?   What’s your issue?  Did you forget that this is “your thing”, and since you pretty much stalk us and get all our info- you should really be able to deliver on little things like widgets and blog platforms.  What’s next?  We can’t “google” questions or queries?  Bing, I guess it’s up to you.

What a day!

My goodness, what a day it has been, and it’s not over yet!
Besides the normal workday, I am now working an overnight- gotta love a teacher’s salary  😉

However- I did have a 2.5 hour window with my Little Man, in which we stopped at the bookstore, made dinner, and pulled out my old Star Wars toys  🙂
I had all those toys in their boxes- I am SUCH a geek, have I mentioned that?  And all sorts of toys from when the original movies first came out- yes, those toys pre-date my birth, LOL.  But he is a good boy and very careful with his toys, so mama gave them all to him.  Well- ALMOST all, lol.  Not the old ones in boxes!
He appropriates everything.  My little bubbie.  I had a really, really nice day with him.  The day at the Pre-K was not horrific either, especially considering this migraine that I have had continually since Tuesday.  However- this overnight?  OY.

Strasburg Railroad- have some family fun!

(So says Little Man-) TRAINS RULE!

Little Man and a “Red Cap” friend, who is there to answer questions, help out, and make your day that much better 🙂

During our trip to Pennsylvania we went to a very cool destination. The Strasburg Railroad. Out in Lancaster, PA, located on Route 741, there is wonderful railroad station. Many train fanatics say it is the best in the USA for visitors and one of the most fantastic places left where you can actually ride in the old steam engines. This train station is large, restored and maintained beautifully, and you can feel the love that the conductors and employees have for their jobs. They are also AMAZING and so sweet to the kids.

With a Conductor- came to punch our tickets, stayed for a funny-face photo, LOL

While we were there, there was a school group on a filed trip as well as a retirement village out and about, taking some time to relax and enjoy the trains. They also have a great train museum. The [Read more…]
