With summer here, we constantly have our barbecue grill out. My husband being a cattle farmer means that we often have a lot of beef. Nothing is better than a good steak at home with ones you love. The wonderful Swamp People Marinade, Steak Sauce, and Hot Sauce has been a great addition to our Barbecues.

About Swamp People Sauces:

These great sauces are inspired by the characters, culture, and gustatory delights of Cajun Country, hunters, grillers, Cajun cooks, or series fanatics.

Sauces Include:

  • Tree Breaka Cajun Steak Sauce
  • Mudda Fricks Horseradish BBQ Sauce
  • No Guts, No Gator Habanero Salsa
  • Tree Shaka Cocktail Sauce
  • Pierre Part Inhospitable Hot Sauce

My Thoughts:

I was very impressed with the Sauces. When we had steak this past weekend we were very excited to try out the new steak sauces. The Swamp People Louisiana Critter Marinade was wonderful. I put it on my steaks about 30 minutes or so before we were going to grill them. They were absolutely amazing. Occasionally I do like having some steak sauce with my steaks, and I will admit that the Tree Breaka Cajun Steak Sauce was great.

Olive Garden – New Menu

Where do you go for some wonderfully cooked Italian food, in an Italian-inspired environment with some very nice people serving it?  The Olive Garden, of course.  Olive Garden is a chain of Italian restaurants across the country filling plates with Italian fare while creating smiles and full stomachs.

With promotions running all the time to enjoy.  As well as both a rotating menu of season dishes and specials as well as classic favorites like lasagna and grilled chicken Alfredo.  There is something for everyone on the menu even the pickiest of eaters.

During a recent visit Little Man and myself had a filling meal.  The meal started as most do at Olive Garden with a wonderful salad, but to bring the salad up a notch we added and antipasto.  This adds Italian cheeses and meats of various types to the all you can eat salad.  This addition is great and makes an already good salad even better.  Up next we had some chicken meatballs from the appetizer menu which Little Man devoured as if he has been starved for days.

Week 7 On Nutrisystem

Ok, I actually lost a pound this week, huzzah! This has been slow going for me- which is a little frustrating, but at least it’s going in the right direction.  I am following the plan and getting exercise regularly, and maybe next week I will see a bigger loss.  Yes, a pound is great- but I’m totally hoping for a few of those to drop next week- I’ve been doing really well following the plan, and getting  my workouts in, so I really (selfishly, impatiently!) want to see a big drop.  My Nutrisystem counselor reminds me that it is not all in the scale, which is true-  but I’m a brat, what can I say, ha.  I do feel good and have a lot of energy, so that’s great.  I spent a very active weekend (as any of you who follow me on Twitter, Foursquare, or Facebook know) and had no issues keeping up.  I also was really good, and stayed away from the birthday cake  🙂

Summer Effortless Meals with Walmart

Disclosure- I received compensation in order to buy items for this blog post. All opinions are my own. Thanks to The Coca-Cola Company for providing compensation for this blog post.

Summer is right around the corner with long hot days and tiring nights.  As temperatures rise, the want to cook in a hot kitchen decreases and quickly.  Who would want to hang out in a hot kitchen making chicken for an hour when there is an easier way that could actually fit into your schedule?  With Summer comes sports and outdoor parties and pools  The kids are around more often which is great but also adds another dimension to your day.

Walmart and Coca-Cola have come together to help families out a bit this Summer with their new Effortless Meals.  The way the meals work is each meal consists of a main dish, sometimes a side and always a Coca-Cola product.  Your options are Rotisserie Chicken and a side, Take and Bake Pizza, or sandwich and chips.

Week 6 On Nutrisystem

For the second week in a row, I neither gained nor lost anything this week.  Yes, this is frustrating, since I am following the plan and getting exercise regularly, but I’m hoping for a payout soon.   My Nutrisystem counselor says it’s not all in the scale, which is true.  I’d still (of course) like to see some weightloss on the scale, but I do feel good and have a lot of energy.

The food is easy to stick with and fast to make, which is a plus for any busy mom or working woman.  Who wants to spend all that time futzing with a complicated diet when you can just use the pre-portioned meals?

IHOP’s Newest Menu Item

Picture this- it is mid-week and you have no idea what to make for dinner.  The kids want pizza but you want something a bit more satisfying after the week you’ve been having.  Something that tastes like home and everyone would love.  How about breakfast at IHOP for dinner?  While there, why not try their newest menu addition Cinnamon Swirl Brioche French Toast.

IHOP’s menu is perfect for those mid week slumps in meals by pepping everyone up a bit.  Maybe you are dying for something sweet and satisfying like a nice warm breakfast while the kids want chicken fingers and soup.  This isn’t possible at every restaurant but at IHOP any time of day is breakfast time.  What is nice about IHOP is there ever changing menu.  And their most recent addition is a welcome.  Their newest Brioche French Toast is cinnamon swirl.  They start with two sliced of Brioche French Toast, in a vanilla batter and grilled to perfection.  Then they add a cinnamon roll icing on the top.  This icing is the same you’d find on a cinnamon roll but instead of rolled up its spread on thick and delicious.  Finally a cream cheese icing is drizzled on top of them and the fin really starts, you get to eat it.
