We are all about playing fun games in this family. We’re not completely consistent about  having weekly game nights, but we have them at least every week. We were very excited to add this awesome game to our game night collection. Wuzzits is a great games for our kids and my husband and I enjoy playing it as well.

About WuzzIts:

  • Game Time is about 20 minutes

Enter the wacky world of WuzzIts and watch to see what they morph into next! Clever choices and a sharp eye are rewarded in this fun monster match up. The WuzzIt population is divided in five families, but the mischievous WuzzIts like to combine with each other to create a confusing cast of characters. The right moves will help you match up the monsters. On each turn, players choose one of their top or bottom cards to exchange for a surprise card. Playing is easy, but victory is tricky. Round up the most WuzzIts to win!

Disney Magical World Nintendo 3DS

There is a recent trend in video games called life simulations. These games are a sort of role playing game light. Where players build / upkeep something then are rewarded for it while also helping other characters with various jobs/quests.  The game play is easy going and relaxing and moves as quickly as you’d like it to.
One of the most recent additions to this genre is Disney Magical World. This game takes the genre of life simulation and throws a whole lot of charm and Disney magic to bring a new world to life. The game starts out with you selecting your character’s appearance. This can either be created in game or through the usage of your Mii avatar associated with your 3DS.

As the game progresses and more quests are done more customization is further and further unlocked with your character, their personal space and your cafe which is run by your character in game. The game takes familiar characters like Goofy, Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse and brings them to life as new friend who need help and also patrons of your cafe. There is nothing as interesting as watching Goofy eat pastries in your cafe. Some examples of the help character need are: collecting items, completing a specific set of directions,putting on the right article of clothing and getting complemented on it or as simple as fishing.

New Skylanders SWAP Force

We are now on the third Skylanders game and with each new game it seems they get better and better.  The most recent addition is SWAP Force, which not only let you swap out figures but also characteristics of each figure, or in easier terms the tops and bottoms.

3 21 14 058Each Swap Force figure has the ability to trade its top or bottom with other Swap Force figures.  This makes for some very interesting combinations of figures upon game release.  But as the line expands, as it recently has, things get even more interesting and more possibilities arise.  Very recently Skylanders has dropped some new figures on the general public.  These figures include Freeze Blade, Fryno, Scratch, and Trap Shadow.  Freeze Blade and Trap Shadow are Swapable while Fryno and Scratch are regular Skylanders figures, who ONLY bring their digital counterparts to life when put on the portal while the game is on.  Of these new figures I like Trap Shadow best.  Something about Traps and Shadows just sends shivers down my spine.  Little Man loves Fire Bone Hot Dog.  Its a dog and it has a bone?  Instant classic.

Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze

toys and nintendo 050Donkey Kong has been around since the early 1980’s in the arcade game Donkey Kong.  Since then Donkey Kong has hopped from good to bad many times.  Then 1994 happened and Donkey Kong Country would solidify Donkey Kong as a Nintendo legend.  This Rare made game brought Donkey Kong to the lime light with a CGI look, new music and Mario-type platforming with his side kick Diddy Kong.  Country is back and on the Wii U with Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze.  This game is a fun romp through Donkey Kong and makes for a great game to play with kids.

Tropical Freeze starts with a  birthday party which is interrupted by the evil Snowmad armada.  Once it arrives they proceed to freeze over the tropical landscape.  Out heroes Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong, Dixie Kong, and Kranky Kong.  When Donkey Kong is teamed up with on of his cohorts the team has new powers.  Diddy Kong has a rocket pack, Dixie has helicopter hair and Kranky has a bounce staff.  These powers open up areas of each level which were previously unreachable.  The player has the option to either do your best to finish or do your best to collect everything.  This may seem difficult but with some thinking and some luck all are reachable.

Itineraries are usually packed with activities depending on the location, but there are times when there are gaps – perhaps a flight gets canceled, or a tour date is moved. Yoshi’s New Island Video Game

toys and nintendo 062Yoshi is one of the most beloved characters created  by Nintendo.  The reasons being that he is cute, tough, and hey- he throws eggs.  He is the quintessential assistant and mode of transportation.  Lets face it, if we could call ride a Yoshi to work or school everyday we would.  This lovable dinosaur is back in the Yoshi’s New Island for the Nintendo 3DS and 2DS.

The game starts out with the familiar stork and Mario story.  Mario is bring carried to his parents, but along the way the stork is attacked by Kamek, causing Mario to fall to Egg Island- and the adventure begins.  This game plays like other Nintendo plat-formers, but with a more child friendly theme.  Many textures look like crayon or pencil drawings, while the main characters are brightly colored and vibrant.  Their animation seamless and a pleasure to watch and play.  As with most recent Nintendo plat-formers, if the player is stuck at a point in the game, wings, then golden wings are available for usage.  These help Yoshi to fly, holding down the jump button, and make him invulnerable to most attacks.

Get Your Game on With Nintendo

This past weekend, my son, husband, and myself headed to the Nintendo World Store in New York City to check out some of the newest and soon-to-be-released games, including Yoshi’s New Island and Disney Magical World launching soon on the Nintendo 3DS/2DS.  We had a great time playing the new games, checking out the systems, and even answering some fun trivia questions.  My son is a Yoshi pro, so the questions were right up his alley.  He won a prize, which thrilled him to no end (a plush Kamek) and we even won a raffle prize- a Yoshi T-Shirt.

In addition, there is some fun news to share with you.  During the month of March, people who register a Nintendo 3DS™, Nintendo 3DS XL or Nintendo 2DS™ system, as well as one of six select Nintendo 3DS games via Club Nintendo, will receive a free code to download either Pokémon™ X or Pokémon Y, the best-selling Nintendo 3DS games of 2013.
