Fall into Miracle-Gro

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Scotts Miracle-Gro for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

It’s my favorite time of year- fall! Well, I love fall and spring the same amount, actually. The changing of the seasons, and the fact that we get to leave extreme weather behind us is always a good thing in my mind. I love the colors that come about in the fall- we are in the Northeast, and you know what that means- the leaves change colors in some of the most amazing hues imaginable. It’s easy toFind beauty in the Fall.

Now, while I love my roses, and it’s true that they and most of my other spring and summer garden can’t make it in this weather, not all is lost 🙂 Fall gardening and gardens are some of the prettiest, with their deep colors and rich tones. We love mums here- always have- and we just bought a whole mess of them. My son has quite the green thumb, not something he got from [Read more…]

Beyond Bedding- Adorable Bedding for Your Little Ones

Looking for some well made, and super cute bedding? Take a look at Beyond Bedding. Beyond bedding specializes in affordable unique, quality bedding for beds of all sizes. From toddler bedding sets to pretty adult bed sized micro suede sets- and all are affordable and fun!

I needed to take a look at the kids bedding sets, since Little needed a new set. Dinosaurs, stars and moons, cowboys and even teddy bears and turtles. We thought the Woodland Forest set was a perfect fit for him- he chose it himself. Everybody knows how much Little loves animals 🙂 The colors are bright, the characters are “super cutie” in Little’s words, and the price is right too. It’s always easier, in my opinion, to buy in a set that comes all together.

Little Man loves all the foxes and how busy and alive the set looks without being [Read more…]

#FeedtheFamily with Target

A few weeks ago, I was invited to attend Target’s Feed the Family event in New York City. Target showcased all different ways to feed your family with products you can buy right at your local Target. From soup to nuts- well, from the recipes, to ingredients, to cooking utensils, accessories, and back to school products, it really covered everything.

As a Target shopper, it gave me some good ideas. Target is one of the least expensive stores I know of to shop at, and I got some good ideas to try. I’m not that creative- so it was awesome to be poked a bit, LOL.

I thought this was a cute take on the classic peanut butter and jelly sandwich- just for a little variety. Take a variety of crackers, some peanut butter, jelly, and cranberries for good measure- and there you go! 🙂

And of course- every child’s favorite, mac and cheese!

They also have some cute lunchboxes and food-on-the-go containers to get ready for back to school.

Target created the expanded food layout in response to research and feedback from guests who requested more fresh food selection in the convenience of their local Target store. The new and enhanced store redesign allows Target stores to further serve as a one-stop shopping destination for busy guests who can now complete their grocery list or pick up tonight’s [Read more…]

Is It Better to Raise Your Kids in the City or the Suburbs?

That incredible day all hopeful moms wish and pray for has finally arrived. You
come home from your doctor’s office with the knowledge that you and your partner are
going to be parents. It’s an amazing feeling, full of all the hopes and dreams of who your
child will be, and what kind of life they will grow up to have. But one decision you will
make on their behalf can do a great deal to shape that future they will experience. And
that’s whether to raise your child in the city, or in the suburbs. As with many decisions
involving your kids, you’ll probably go over the pros and cons of each option for days,
and in the end you may never know for sure if you’re making the right decision. It may
just come down to a preference, and if you raise your child with love, respect, and a solid
set of rules, they will grow into amazing adults in either environment. But here are some
of the issues you should consider if you find yourself wondering whether you should
raise your kids in the city or the suburbs.

First of all, consider the neighborhood. In the suburbs, your child will have lawns to
play on, space to grow, and roads that could be empty for several hours of the day. The
suburbs are known for serenity and continuity. Each day is sure to be like the last, and
for the most part, there won’t be many surprises. In the city, every day is an adventure.
Your child will grow up playing in parks surrounded by buildings and busy streets, with
near constant activity. The suburbs are safe; the city is somewhat uncertain. If you have
an adventurous spirit, and want your children to experience the same, the city may be
your best option. But if you’re a homebody, and want your child to have consistency and
security, the suburbs are probably for you.

Next, consider the activities your kids will be able to take advantage of. The [Read more…]

Exploring Options When Your Mortgage Payment Is Out of Control

A lot of times, when we make a major purchase like a home or a car, we have the present in mind rather
than the future. In other words, when we first bought those kinds of high-priced items, we may have had
a steady job, which produced a stable income, and so there was no concern about whether or not we could
meet our monthly mortgage or car note.

But then life happens and we may lose our job or incur other expenses like a new addition to the family.
Suddenly, what once seemed like a fairly easy financial expense is now burdensome. If you feel this way as
it relates to your mortgage and you would like to explore some options on what to do when your monthly
payments seem like they have gotten out of control, here are a few tips that may help relieve the financial
pressure and internal stress.

Speak with your lender. It may feel a bit intimidating, but it’s far better to let your mortgage lender
know about your situation as soon as possible than to let your mortgage payments lapse. Oftentimes, your
lender has ways to help you that you may have not considered such as a modification (where they may
agree to lower your interest rates) or a forbearance (where you may be able to temporarily stop making
loan payments until you can get into a better financial state). Or, if you have good credit (high 700s), you
may be able to get your bank fees reduced or eliminated altogether.

Shorten your mortgage. This one may seem like a bit of stretch because you may be thinking, “If the
mortgage is too high, the last thing that I want to do is make my mortgage shorter.” But, the benefit here
is that if you go from, say, a 30-year mortgage to a 15-year mortgage, look at all of the interest [Read more…]
