My girls absolutely love to have their finger nails painted. I don’t mind painting there nails, especially because they really love it. I do however not really feel comfortable using nail polishes on them that have a great deal of chemicals in them. I was very impressed when I came across Piggy Paint

About Piggy Paint:

Melanie Hurley is the Founder of Piggy Paint. She always hated the thought of her children putting their hands in their mouths after she painted their nails with traditional kid polishes. The ingestion of chemicals worried her as well as the smell of painting all those nails. One day they were painting nails and her daughter dropped some paint onto a foam plate. The polish quickly bubbled up and then ate through the plate.

Eco-Friendly Activities at Home Together With Your Kids

Every parent will tell you that catering to their kids can often be rather expensive; trying to get them the latest toys and games can absolutely destroy your budget for the month. That’s why a lot of parents have taken to creating their own activities at home for the kids, fun little events and games that are easy on the bank account and more importantly, ensure that you’re being eco-friendly.

pic3These activities can involve anything from learning about recyclable items through fun games and songs to something like competitions and prizes for finding the most recyclable items in the house. The types of games you can play can involve giving the kids a list of recyclables on a card with each card containing a different item inside it. You can then give them a small prize for whoever manages to fill in their card the fastest.

Another could involve having the kids arrange recyclables outside in the garden, these kinds of games work great as an alternative pastime activity at the garden as it encourages the kids to go outside and interact more with the environment.

A great benefit of these games being eco-friendly is that it teaches the kids the importance of looking after the environment, behavior that they’ll practice every day before eventually passing onto their own kids in the future.

Outside of games some parents have even started turning to arts and crafts with their kids using recyclable materials to show that junk that they would normally throw away can be turned into beautiful works of art. Some have even made a small profit out of turning their recycling activities with their kids into a small business.

Today we are looking at a few of the newest K’nex toy lines associated with video games. The games are Super Mario 3d world, Plants vs Zombies and Titanfall. The list may seem to have big difference between one another but one of the common threads between them is fun and K’nex.

Etymotic Kid EarPhones

Picture this, it’s a long car trip and your kids are playing on their various electronic devices. Hours of car ride progress.  Over the course of the ride you have heard Mario fall into a pit about 1,000 times and an Angry Bird launch 5,000 times at a minimum also you can now sing every note of the song for fruit ninja. What to do, other then turn these devices into road side litter? Headphones of course. But this can be a bit unnerving as well. Once you start to hear the sounds from their head phones now, you know the sound is up way too high and damage is being done to little ears which were fine just moments ago. The cheap ones are just that- cheap.  You get what you pay for, and they don’t last nor do they have great volume control. Why not upgrade your pair of headphones? There is a great set of earphones (that go into the ear canal) made by ETYKids that is also very easy to travel with.

Most of you probably know by now that I absolutely love bows and headbands for my girls. They love to wear them and are very picky about which ones to wear with what outfits. I was so happy to receive a few new awesome bows and a headband to add to my collection from Via Cacao.

About Via Cacao:

Via Cacao was created by Vanessa. In 2012, after taking design courses in patterns, color, and graphics, she started creating playful hair accessories and gifting them to her friends around Seattle. Their enthusiastic responses led her to launch Via Cacao, which now offers a line of ultra-modern leg warmers, tights, and mismatched socks in addition to hair clips.

Via Cacao uses high-quality materials like Peruvian pima cotton in vibrant colors and quirky patterns to create pieces that make a statement and defy dress codes. After all, fashion is a form of expression that deserves to be cultivated in even the youngest savvy dressers.

The true inspiration is their children, Ignacio and Alessia, who truly make this venture worthwhile.

The migratory patterns of kids’ gear

Kids' gear without a SwaggerTagCaribou, Atlantic Salmon and Monarch Butterflies tend to migrate predictably. Kids’ gear, however, can often be spotted in surprising and seemingly random locations. How does a pair of running shoes find its way up telephone wires? Do scooters & bikes wheel themselves miles away from home? How can that SmartPhone be forgotten on the subway when you can’t even get your kid to part from it at the dinner table?

New York City’s Transit (MTA) reports that its Lost & Found has a rotating inventory of over 160,000 items. And while kids & teens leave behind the bulk of gear, there are plenty of adults who contribute, too. Items range from a library of E-Readers & other electronics, a schoolyard of backpacks, a menagerie of stuffed animals, an orchestra of musical instruments, a hospital’s worth of medical aids and an alarming number of pairs of underwear(!?!)

Like most lost & found offices, the MTA does its best to reunite people with their lost articles, even creating an online database that’s updated hourly.

As parents, we know how easy it is for a distracted child or teen to loose track of their gear (hey, we’ve been know to be guilty of it ourselves!). And despite our warnings, threats & pleas, it happens. Sometimes we get lucky: we’re able to quickly backtrack and claim our personal effects. Other times, it doesn’t work out that way…and then everyone’s upset.
