Need New Sneakers? Stride Rite for All Seasons

My son, like so many of your children, wears a uniform to school. This means that he needs both playclothes as well as his uniform clothes. We need to have 2 wardrobes, but that doesn’t mean that we want to spend money like we are Donald Trump. You want the best for your child or children, but you don’t need to break the bank to get them what they want and need for school. You can save a lot of money by shopping at Stride Rite and picking up the new shoes you need, the styles you want, at prices you can afford to pay.

8 17 14 056My boy needs brown shoes for school, and these Merrels fit the bill perfectly- they are also slip on (which saves much-needed time in the morning) and easy to clean. They are good in all sorts of weather, and they can easily dress up or down, which is something that I personally love about them. It’s like getting two shoes in one- and with how fast kids grow, it’s just one less thing you need to spend money on. Super durable, these are cute and easy to wear.

Here is a bit more info on the shoes-

8 17 14 057“Casual, comfy and ready for anything, the Jungle Moc will easily become your child’s favorite. And, not just because they slip on easily and feel as comfortable their favorite slippers. Or because they have a great sole that grips when they need to. But because whether they are headed to school, a party or just running errands, these shoes are up to the task and will last until you have to insist on a new pair.”

Shopping with JCPenny

Back to School shopping can be a chore, but not if you find things your kids really love at prices you can afford to spend. While you might be able to use some of your child’s “last year” wardrobe, chances are they grew quite a bit and you will need to refresh their clothing for the upcoming year.  I don’t always pick up everything over the summer, I like to wait and get some of their new items once school starts- it is easier on my wallet, and also lets me find the best sales and options.

Let me tell you about the amazing styles, variety, and prices you can find at JCPenny.

This is one of the stores I truly enjoy shopping at. Anyone who follows me on Foursquare or Twitter will know I am frequently at the store, and we love what we see. They have something for everyone in the family, any age, and of course a fantastic home and housewares section as well. I get myself into trouble every time I go….but not too much, because the prices are some of the best around.

Go Back To School With Kohl’s

With back to school season upon us, moms and dads everywhere are scrambling to get everything our kids want and need for the upcoming year. Most of our kids have “required” back to school items like certain notebooks, pens and pencils, and of course new backpacks.  However, besides the required back to school classroom supplies, most children also need new clothes for the new school year- they do tend to grow, don’t they?  20140802_114013One place I like to shop for my son is Kohl’s.  As most of you know, we are big fans of Kohl’s, both in store and online.  One of the best things about shopping at Kohl’s is that you can find everything you need for everyone in your family all in one place- and if they happen to run out of a size or you don’t feel like running to the store, there is always http://www.kohls.com .

ALEX TOYS Ready, Set, Write by ALEX BRANDS

We love this!  We took it with us on a recent road trip to Maine and Canada, and my son used it in the car and in restaurants.  “Learn to write A,B,C’s and numbers with ease! This spiral-bound pad contains 19 pages of numbers and letters that wipe away for lots of practicing.”  It is perfect for practicing your letters and getting to know them, or for older children like my son, getting better with handwriting (which, like his mother, is usually a mess).

Ready, Set, Write costs $13.95 on the ALEX site, and is well worth it.  It can be used over and over again, as well as passed on to younger siblings. It is aimed at kids aged 3 and up, but can be used by younger if they can grip the pen.  The one thing I would watch for is that the pen does stain both hands and clothing if you are not careful.

ALEX TOYS Ready, Set, Tell Time by ALEX BRANDS

My son is not the best at telling time on any sort of clock or watch- it is a skill we are working on.  This kit is aimed at children 4 and up, but again can be used with younger children as well as older. I would have for sure used it for circle time when I was teaching Pre-K, and my son is getting use out of it as well.  It sells for $18.95 on the ALEX website, and comes with more then just a clock face.
