BRAVE ROONEY kid’s storyapp

Last year, storyapp author, Gerry Renert, honored the anniversary of the surviving brave search and rescue dogs of 9/11 by giving away his BRAVE ROONEY kid’s storyapp. Renert’s intent was also to start the conversation – – among dog owners — about just how courageous dogs can be in defending their masters, and how it almost seems they have a special sense in knowing they’re needed to help human beings. Many dog owners wrote on Mr. Renert’s Facebook page with brief, touching recounts of courageous dog deeds, some even involving their children. Right now and until January 30, Mr. Renert again wants to hear from dog [Read more…]

Travelling Overseas With Young Children

The common wisdom is that children and overseas flights do not go well together. The many hours of travel, the lack of familiar resources, and the constant responsibility of caring for your child make it that the benefits of such a trip are often not worth the costs. Instead, parents stick to shorter, less glamorous trips while young kids are in tow. The overseas trips are consequently the domain of young couples and empty nesters.
But this belies the point that there are still many parents who travel with children overseas, often times for a job or family reason rather than for a vacation. While such trips can be stressful with youngsters in tow, they are certainly manageable – so long as you are prepared for the challenges. Here are a few suggestions to help insure that you are:

Allocate More Funds

Travelling with children is always more expensive than you think, so your best bet is to be flexible and have money easily available. This may mean taking a cab instead of the subway or going to an amusement park rather than sitting on the beach. You’ll also never know when you may need diapers, medication, toys, or various other items. On this note, it’s good to always carry no foreign transaction fee credit [Read more…]

Kidorable- fab raingear and so much more! W!N an umbrella HERE!

Kidorable makes some of the most fun raingear for kids 1T up to size 6X- and man I wish they went larger! LOL. We just love all the fun styles and options, and how they make all sorts of matching outfits- you can get not just matching rainboots and raincoat- but the umbrella, backpack, towel, mittens, hat, hanger- you name it! It all goes together, and it is all SO CUTE!

Kidorable just came out with a new Dragon Knight Collection, and it is just as cute as all the other styles they have (are they just too creative, or what?) This style is lighter then the other coats, and made in a new material. My Little Man loves to go fight dragons in his little coat- it’s a little thin for winter, but it will be super for all the warmer months (and honestly, most raincoats are too hot for summer and even spring!)

The Dragon Knight collection is steel grey with dark green as accent color, perfect for strong and brave boys. Some pieces accentuate the Knight, others the Dragon, but there is a nice interplay between both characters throughout the set. The umbrella has protruding dragon horns and wings, with a knight, fire, and a castle motif along the bottom. The helmet on the matching raincoat is Kidorable’s coolest hood so far.
The child who wears it can imagine himself as a valiant knight fighting the dragon. The backpack is shaped like a shield for extra play value. It comes with a little stuffed toy sword. The coat is a new material, PU (polyurethane). It’s softer and lighter than PVC.

Click here to take in the entire Dragon Knight collection—boots, coats, umbrellas, backpacks and hangers.

One of you will win a Kidorable Umbrella of Choice. (ooo, which one will you pick???)

PuppeTees Review

When is the last time you had a puppet emergency? (That’s when it’s apparent you’re a parent, for sure.)
This usually occurs in our house when a puppet is MIA. Or maybe its puppet time and the stage can’t be set.
Check out PuppeTees. Puppetees are stage and puppet built into one singular package, be it a tote or a T-shirt. The puppets are well crafted detailed finger puppets. So these are perfect for little hands and fingers.

We had the pleasure of giving the Town Square T-shirt a try. The shirt is a good fit for Little Man, he loves playing with puppets and this shirt is such a good idea. [Read more…]

GoGoBabyz- Travel Stroller/Carseat G!VEAWAY

Strollers always have some new feature to make you say, “Wow, great idea”. Today we are looking at GoGoBabyz new stroller the Urban Advantage. What makes this stroller unique is only has three wheels, two in the back and one in the front. This makes tight turns a breeze and even fitting it in the trunk seems a bit easier.

The stroller is for children from new born to 45 lb.s with a touch of a button it folds up quickly and easily. There is a large storage compartment underneath and the tires are airless, so no blow outs while traversing the wild streets of the city, lol. OR, the not so wild streets and sidewalks of suburbia 🙂

Little Man says about the stroller- “oh- mom, it’s comfy!” and I have to say it was a very smooth ride. It has 4 cupholders- one for me, one for him, and one for when Kamikaze joins us, with one left. So if you have more then 2 kids, or daddy comes along, you are good to go. It has lots of storage, and the sunshade is of course, a must have feature in any stroller. You also need the snack tray- which swings out for easy in and out- daily, don’t we? It’s also good for playing with all the toys our little ones carry with them everywhere, LOL.

It was super easy to put together- it took my husband less then 20 minutes to do. The ride is so smooth, it feels like you hardly have to push it at all, and more then once I have pushed it one-handed (what can I say- cell phones ring, toys drop, hats fall off, you know how it is!!!) and it was so not an issue. Even when the road gets bumpy, the stroller just keeps truckin’!

A few more features of this stroller that I love are;

  • 360-degree front-wheel swivel and a slim
  • Easy to maneuver around tight corners and narrow store aisles
  • Airless 12-inch wheels
  • Provides easy handling and a smooth ride on urban sidewalks or dirt paths
  • Cushioned four-position reclining seat back
  • Adjustable leg rest
  • Stroller collapses easily with the one-handed folding system.

You can pick up lots of accessories for this stroller on the site, too- such as rain gear, a larger sun shade, a twin adapter, and the like 🙂

Next up is the GoGo Kidz Travelmate. The Travelmate is a wonderful attachment for anyone who goes traveling with toddlers. This attachment is in simplest terms wheels that attach to a car seat which make it very easy to roll the car seat around. The Travelmate has a telescopic handle and two 5 inch Razor wheels.

This attachment makes it so much easier then lugging around a car seat. Not only is your little one off their feet, but the car seat now has wheels and is easy to move around. Have you ever tried to travel while toting around a carseat? And then the stroller??? NOT FUN! You need a seat for your child on the plane, and you need a stroller for the airport, and when you land. This makes things so much easier. Plus then you won’t need to rent a carseat when you land and get to your rental car 🙂 BAM- covered!

Now onto the real fun parts. Recycling! GoGo Kidz now offers recycled versions of both their Travelmate and Urban Advantage. A recycled unit is one that has been refurbished [Read more…]

Zoobles- Fun Playsets for Everyone!

There are so many great Zoobles playsets out there- and what a cute, fun way to play. My kids love the Mama and Babies playsets, and the Zoobles of the mommies and babies are so cute. The little babies are VERY small, and are for sure a chocking hazard- so watch that!

Each playset comes with all you need to have a great time.

  • Let them roll down the slide into their playpen and watch as they jump whenever Mama comes near!
  • Take them for a stroll in your flight school stroller as they spin around in circles!
  • Mama and the twins love to have fun, and with all their activities the fun never ends!
  • Includes:1 Mama Zooble, [Read more…]

Alvin and the Chipmunks -ChipWrecked- the video game!

Alvin and the Chipmunks are coming out with another movie. The next one has the gang teaming up with the Chipettes and they are all stranded on a desert island! Along with the release of the movie there is also a game out now called Alvin And the Chipmunks: Chip Wrecked. This is an Xbox 360 Kinect title, that should not be looked down upon because of its movie license.

Chip Wrecked is a a dance game where the player or players, the title supports up to 2 players at once, mirror the moves of the Chipmunk or Chipette of your choice. Then you shake what your momma gave you to chipmunk renditions of modern and classic songs! LOL

The game’s graphics are good and the ability of the Kinect to read what the player is doing is quite effective. Waving and moving about is surprisingly fun as a chipmunk. I like how not only is it good at reading an adult player, but also a child. So many games FAIL in this area. [Read more…]

Dr. Dreadful- a gross-tastic review

Do your kids like gross things? Usually its boys but Kamikaze is quite the gross-ologist as well. Most times this is a problem. Wanting to touch something they shouldn’t or in general getting entirely too close to something they shouldn’t be near at all. Dr. Dreadful is here with a whole line of gross delicious products to satisfy that gross side of kids. From bug gummy injectors to zombie brains and barf its all here in all its ‘glory’ or rather ‘gory’.

We are taking a look at the Zombie Lab . The zombie lab is a play set is packed with experiments to play with. There are four in total including bubbling brains, zombie skin, zombie bugs and zombie barf. Each experiment involves specific measuring and a chemical reaction. For the skin the liquid becomes a semi-solid thin candy material once refrigerated and the bubbling brains solidify a bit and bubble and ooze out of their brain container. These experiments are easy to do and because of the zombie and sweet outcome are [Read more…]
