HexBugs Review and Get Yours Here!

I am positive you have all heard of HexBugs. Those odd little bug-like robots that are brightly colored and seem to be kid magnets. The HexBugs line up is constantly, well evolving, and one of their most recent additions are the larva. These are very creepy crawly insects that look like brightly colored maggots. These larva react to objects in their path. That means if you happen to get in front of it as it is crawling along the table, it backs up and goes tin the opposite direction.

On the surface, it doesn’t seem like much- but when it is part of the crawling tail wiggling etc., it makes for a very odd and creepy creature. HexBugs are very interesting as single creatures but you definitely get more of the Bug activities when you have more then one reacting to one another. It gets to the point where you get weird-ed out they are so realistic. The movement and reactions of the Bugs are so alien and bug like they really creep out the kids, to the point where they didn’t want to touch them. But after some prodding they were laughing and playing with them too.

HexBugs are fun for both kids and adults. Kids think they are cool and weird. Adults are curious and interested.
I know this sounds, bad but HexBugs shine in swarms. If you ever get a chance check out a big set up of the Nano Habitat. It is mesmerizing how ant/swarm/bug like they all move/interact and in general move about.

Keeping Your Children Safe In and Around Cars

It is estimated that an automobile accident occurs in the United States every sixty seconds, and of the
millions of crashes that occur each year, approximately 40,000 will result in fatality (according to the
National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, or NHTSA). If you don’t find these statistics alarming,
perhaps it is because you are a recluse or you prefer public transportation. But anyone who drives a car
regularly is probably keen to check the safety features on their vehicle right about now. And if you have
kids, safety in and around cars becomes even more imperative. So here are just a few tips for parents
out there looking for some peace of mind.

1. Child seats. This is the first and most important tool in your arsenal when it comes to protecting
your child from harm while in a vehicle. You might think that at a certain age it is okay to let
your child ride without a seat, but in fact, most specifications are based on weight, not age. And
while your state has regulations that will tell you when it is legally safe to allow your child out of
a car seat, you should check standards for other states and follow the strictest rules in order to
ensure the best protection for your child.

2. Trunk release. While it is not terribly common for kids to become trapped in a trunk, it’s not
entirely unheard of, either. So warn your kids about the perils of getting into the trunk while
you’re not looking and make sure that they know where the trunk release latch is in case they
do become trapped. If your car has no release from the inside, show your kids how to get
through the back seat or simply check the trunk before you close it.

3. Child-lock doors and windows. [Read more…]

Super Mario 3D Land Party & Game Review

We were recently invited to a wonderful event in Times Square in New York City to celebrate the release of the new 3DS game Super Mario 3D Land. This party included a full real life recreation of a few staples from the game, including Piranha flowers, bouncy blocks, question bricks, and even a slide. The best part was the jumpy blocks played the Mario jumping sound, and one of the Piranha flowers spit at you, while you were behind a clear shield.

Before everyone had their chance to play in 3D Land there were some parkour performers dressed as Mario that flipped, jumped and flew around. It was very neat- and I love to watch this in person there is a certain level of excitement when watching someone hop around in ways that seem to stretch reality a bit.

If you were one of the lucky peeps, you also received a Tanooki tail and ears to complete your Mario experience. No, they did not let you float slower while jumping, but they did look really cool and would make a good travel pillow because they were so soft and the perfect size. There is a new product line for you Nintendo! Tanooki tail travel pillow- feel free to use that one (LOL).
There was also mushroom pizza available for the low price of a tweet with a #Hashtag. Didn’t have magic properties but sustenance.

Ok ready, set- PLAY! Here is everything you have to know if you are a Mario fan. This is a very good Mario game. Get it, you will not be disappointed, I promise you this.

Super Mario 3D Land for the Nintendo 3DS is the most recent Mario game in a long line of superb games. For every system Nintendo releases they also release at least one Mario game, this is the first one for the 3DS. In Mario Land you take on the role of Mario, our Italian hero in blue and red as he tries to save the princess from the clutches of Bowser, and his cohorts Boom Boom and Pom Pom.

The first level of 3D Land acts as an introduction to the first 3D platforming Mario game ever. I will admit, at first I was apprehensive on a 3D Mario game. Mario is best known for his side scrolling adventures jumping from turtle shell to block, shooting fireballs and swinging his tail along the way. Within that first level I fell for it. Great fun, the 3D is seamless and [Read more…]

PRIZE PACK Moxie Girlz for the Nintendo DS

Be True! Be you!

That is the message behind Moxie Girlz for the Nintendo DS. On the surface this game doesn’t look like there is much to it, but when you dig a bit deeper you find the creativity in it. This isn’t your average video game for girls. In this game you can completely customize your Moxie Girl. You can customize with accessories hairstyles, fashion and everything in between. There is also a fashion play mode as well as mini games and art play. There is also the added feature of adding photos of yourself to the fun with your DSi or 3DS.

Movie Girlz is mostly geared toward the preteen girls, so the motto of be true to yourself is very important in my book. I see this especially in my daughter, who it seems like changes her opinion like the wind as her little friends at school change theirs, even if she has no idea what it is she ‘loves’ this week. An example is Justin Beeber, she said she loved him two years ago, but when asked who he is all she knew is he sang a song that goes, “Baby baby oh, baby baby oh”. She definitely needs to take the motto of Moxie Girlz to heart. She also thinks he is named Justin Beaver. So….yeah. Needs to form her own opinions a bit- I hope she will grow into that a little. (Girl Scouts and Sports should help, right? RIGHT???? Please? I am so not ready for a tween! AHHHHH!)

Here is a little more information for you-
