Plasma Car- Review and G!VEAWAY (you are going to want this!)

When is the last time you saw a 3 ft tall driver barreling down the street, turning the steering wheel more wildly then a cartoon character, and not called 911? No- this isn’t too much eggnog and olives drenched in vodka for Grandma at Christmas. This is the plasma car, for your kids, silly! Plasma car is a kid powered vehicle which moves by turning the steering wheel in a back and forth motion, about 30 degrees each way, to go forward in a wobbly and silly manner. The car moves completely in this manner, meaning your kids legs are left for more important things like stopping the car in emergencies 🙂 If questioning how exactly it works your best bet is to check out the video:

Little Man liked it because it looks like a spaceship car. We like it because, sans up a hill, it keeps the speed to a minimum while keeping the fun at a maximum. Also, trying to figure out how it works is always a head scratcher for everyone. I suspect it has to do with the size of the three tires at the front of the vehicle, but honestly I am not really sure. All I do know is, Little Man likes it, it uses no batteries and for now fulfills his need for speed.

OK, so- maybe he didn’t really get the whole steering thing- but he is stubborn like a mule, LOL- he still loves it!

One of you will win a PlasmaCar as well! Of course, if you want to make sure one is under the Christmas Tree or as a gift for Hanukkah, you can always buy it here– many Learning Express stores also carry them, I have seen them on my Quest for a Santa YooHoo!

Our Shopping Trip and Why I #LuvCookies

We jsut got back from our shopping trip to the Bronx, NY, to go to Cookies, The Kids Department Store. The store we visited was located at 1534 Westchester Avenue, Bronx, NY 10472.

There was on the street parking- and believe it or not- I FOUND PARKING! Lol. While we did hit major, major traffic to get there, it was a god trip and my first time to a Cookies location. My son and husband came with me to the store, and we decided to make an afternoon of it. My Little Man recently went through a growth spurt, and he really needed some new threads, so this was a great time to shop! We are also going to Florida soon, so he will have fun sporting his new clothes. He was really excited, since I let him help choose his own clothes. He felt like such a big boy!

Cookies Kids has a whole lot to choose from in the way of school uniforms- but today we were shopping for regular, everyday clothes. The prices were very reasonable to extremely inexpensive. While I think I am more likely to shop online at CookiesKids.com in the future- the location was a little crowded for me, I get a little freaked out in super large crowds or tight spaces- there is no way we won’t shop at Cookies again.

The selection at this store was great, from infants all the way to boys size 20 and girls size 16. They also stocked toys, baby bottles and sippy [Read more…]

TrackMaster Cranky And Flynn Save The Day

Thomas and his friends are always out either getting into trouble and trying to help each other get out of it. The newest line of toys from TrackMaster is Cranky and Flynn Save The Day. Cranky is a Cane and Flynn is a new fire truck which is featured in the Thomas direct to video film, Flynn Saves the day. New movie nominee for best usage of a firetruck with a face on it, LOL- think the academy will go for that? Haha.

The new TrackMaster line of toys separates itself from the other Fisher Price Thomas lines with two important characteristics- one, detail! There is much more detail to these train sets, making them a long lasting Thomas set, one that will retain the interest of your little guy or girl in a few months instead of gathering dust on a shelf or bottom of a closet. The other characteristic is they are motorized. In this particular set, Cranky is controlled [Read more…]

Mary Poppins- Disney on Broadway (Live Theater)

Last weekend, we had the opportunity to see Mary Poppins on Broadway, for it’s 5 year Anniversary. Not only that, but we were able to go backstage and check out some amazing props from other Disney shows, like The Lion King, The Little Mermaid, Tarzan, Aida, and Beauty and the Beast. OK, nerd alert? Totally have seen them all, with the exception of Tarzan, LOL. Aida is one of my all time favorite shows, ever-ever, and I nearly had a heart attack standing backstage.

Did I mention I was a total Broadway lover and geek? OK, well, so what? And I am raising one to boot! My son, age 4, loves the theater, and sits rapt through shows, then listens to the CDs and learns them by heart. This wonderful experience was not one either of us will be forgetting, especially since he got to touch the props themselves!

Disney Theatrical’s VP of Operations Dana Amendola gave us all a backstage tour, and told us a bit about the history of the New Amsterdam Theater- by the way, when you go, see if you can find the hidden Micky Mouse! LOL There is a ghost of one of the original Ziegfeld Follies stars, Olive Thomas who resides there and will only show herself to men. The cure for this phenomenon was to only hire female security guards, since Olive was scaring all the men off, LOL. There is also a “listening post”, where critics could be listened to during the intermission of shows. If they didn’t seem to like what they were seeing, then they were invited up to have a drink with a Ziegfield girl after the show. I bet that changed quite a few minds! Ah, men. So easy to manipulate, LOL.

There were also these beautiful ornamental light fixtures, that were re-created by using descriptions from old diaries and journals. Women would write in great detail of their theater visits, and when the time came to re-construct and renovate the New Amsterdam, nothing was held back. The above was what was created from the descriptions- and right before the show opened, they found one of the original light fixtures, with lights and all still working- buried in a wall! Here was what it looked like-

Not bad, right? So close! And how cool, don’t you just love that story? They very quickly had a new batch made, replicating the newly-discovered old fixture, just in time for the re-opening.

Another Quite Famous Lady of the Theater!

These lovely and ornate carvings are found everywhere you look in the theater- many based on Shakespeare’s plays. Right now, if you go see Mary Poppins, you can get the added perk of being [Read more…]

This DVD contains the following stories-

GIVING THANKS (Written and narrated by Chief Jake Swamp, illustrated by Erwin Printup Jr.) Known as the Thanksgiving Address, this Native American good morning message is based on the belief that the natural world is a precious and rare gift – from the moon and the stars to the tiniest blade of grass.

HIAWATHA (By Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, illustrated by Susan Jeffers) Hiawatha’s boyhood is gracefully brought to life against a background of authentic Native American music in this excerpt from Longfellow’s classic poem.

THE PILGRIMS OF PLIMOTH (Written and illustrated by Marcia Sewall) The arrival of the Pilgrims in the new world is chronicled in this dramatic reenactment of their daily activities during those first trying years in the colony they called Plimoth.

Merry Christmas- From Timmy Time! Cute toy and DVD- GET YOURS HERE

My Son LOVES Timmy Time! Since the minutes he got his Jakks Pacific Timmy Time toy, he has not put him down, including to the mall, to see Santa, and you can bet pretty much everyplace else. Timmy looks just like he does on TV/in the Movies, and he makes all sorts of adorable “Baa-ing” sounds as well. Lots of varieties! LOL.

Timmy is super soft, snuggley and cuddly, and my son’s buddy of choice at the moment. He has also asked Santa for Ruffy the Puppy, so we will see what “Santa” can come up with. The soft factor is a must for a stuffed sheep, don’t you think? LOL

Trash Pack Review and Giveaway

These were some of my FAVORITE new toys from Time To Play and I COULD NOT wait to show them to you! Tomorrow is the Biggest Shopping Day of the year- make sure these are on your list! So cool- and all the boys love them. LOVE them!

So, we all know about Squinkies and all the rest of the small toys. The only issue is most of these little toys are geared toward girls. Little Man absolutely loves anything handheld or smaller, pretty much any toy that is small enough to fit in his pocket. Out comes Trash Pack. Trash Pack is are these nasty little toys which are fashioned after garbage or bugs or vermin of some type. These toys are perfect for little boys or tom boys. They are even good for kids who want to play in all that icky nasty stuff, but don’t want to play in the icky nasty stuff.

The little toys themselves are very detailed and incredibly creative, just take a look at Wasted Banana.
We had the pleasure of trying out the Collector’s Trash Can. This is a great start to your Trashies collection, not only do you get a Collectors tin that can hold 18 Trashies and their mini trash can holders. It also comes with two to start your collection, pew-Shi and SkummySkull. If you happen to collect more then just the allotted 18 Trashies, you can always fit more into the Collector’s Trash Can.
