@GlassDharma Straws- Review and Contest (AND a great company)

When Little Man was still drinking out of bottles, he became addicted to drinking out of straws and ever since we have had a drawer full of all sizes and shapes of straws. Through the years, good lord, its been years!!!! where did the time go?, we have learned which straws are good and strong and which ones are weak and get nasty quickly. This took a real long time and I wish we found out about these glass straws from Dharma Glass sooner!

They are straws made of the same glass type Pyrex uses, Borosilicate glass, in order to guarantee strength, clean ability and usability. They can be cleaned in the dishwasher, soaked in warm water, or cleaned with the cleaning brush. The straws are made extra thick and strong so your little ones or big ones won’t hurt themselves. A little tip, try them out next time you are having some adult time with friends, everyone loves watching their frozen drink flow through these brightly colors straws.

The guarantee really is as good as it gets: “If, for any reason you are not satisfied with your purchase, click here for instructions on returning your straw(s). We will issue your choice of an exchange or a refund for the total amount of the items you are returning. (excluding shipping)” The form is a simple one and asks for your invoice, if you have it, the straw itself, packed as best it can be to further prevent breakage and loss of straw in the mail and of course whether you would like a refund or an exchange.

I love how many sizes and shapes that you can get with- the options are endless- there is even a Bubble Tea size- IMPOSSIBLE to find!
My straws are tough- they survived Hurricane Irene, and the company was really cool about everything. I can honestly tell you that I feel good recommending them to you- the people are fabulous and couldn’t be nicer, the straws are high quality and better for the environment then plastic, made in the USA- there is nothing not to love.

One of you will win a $25 gift certificate!

EyeBuyDirect.com Review and Glasses Contest :)

Trying to get affordable quality health care is a bit difficult in the current economic climate. There are alot of way so ‘cut’ corners but unfortunately allot of them do just that, cut out some important parts that are needed. Want to pay a little less for health insurance every month? Then pay more for co-pays, but be careful too many doctor visits will add up real quickly. It’s a tricky gamble to play with. Well, there is one place where I am positive you can save some money. Glasses.

Quite a few of us wear glasses, or should be wearing glasses. These wonderful lenses have the potential to cost us quite allot of money, in the $100+ range. Well, not anymore. Check out http://www.eyebuydirect.com/. They have some of the most affordable AND trustworthy eyeglasses establishments on the web. We have used them at least ten times and every time the quality of the glasses have been perfect and the prices fractions of what they would have been elsewhere. A pair of prescription glasses sell for as little as $6.95. These includes, frames, lenses, a hard carry case and cleaning cloth.

The only issues some people have with buying glasses online involve the fitting. How does one measure all these tiny measurements and hope to get a pair of glasses that fit properly? The answer: with a friend. Read the directions carefully, if there is anything you don’t understand, call them. Support is there for just this reason. They also run promotions all the time. Right now up until November 7th they are running a buy 1 get 1 free on all frames $14.95 and over. So go grab a pair for everyday use and get a pair of tinted prescription sunglasses for FREE.
We love eyebuydirect.com and hope you will love them too.

Prescription eyeglasses are not cheap, with prices usually starting around $150. But they don’t have to
be- EyeBuyDirect.com offers a wide range of high quality affordable cheap eyeglasses .

How do they do so? By selling eyeglasses online EyeBuyDirect is able to cut the costs considerably
and offer prescription eyeglasses starting as low as $6.95 including basic Rx lenses.

Zombies and pumpkins and maybe a costume too!!!! – ThinkGeek Awesome

Time for some ThinkGeek Awesome on Daddy’s Corner.
Today’s episode is Halloween themed. Spooky! We have English zombies and Valve Zombies and even a sprinkling of 8bit pumpkins and a costume. Can’t have Halloween without a costume!

It’s zombie time! First out- English. If any of you have seen Shawn of the Dead, (great movie by the way) this shirt will make you smile, Ed’s shirt. This shirt is awesome, it even comes pre-splattered with a red substance to resemble blood. If you haven’t see Shawn of the Dead, Ed is a crude gentleman who is quite lazy and a best friend/ room mate to Shawn. As if the splatter and the title didn’t give it away the two of them have a few ‘adventures’ with zombies. In a pinch this shirt can even be paired with an unkempt individual and instant costume. Or lets say you are throwing a party and that ‘guy on the couch’ is going to be the only one without a costume, “Bazinga!”- costume.

Next up Valve time. Valve are the masterful creators of such gaming gems as Half-life, Half-life 2, Team Fortress, Portal and Portal 2. Every game they make is incredible and a work of art. Half-life 2 is their Mast head. Great game play, superb story, unforgettable characters and the voice acting of the main character Gordon Freeman is stunning. 😉

Check this out: Headcrab hat. One of the most irritating enemies in the series are the headcrabs. They are generally roaming about on the ground looking for a victim to latch onto their head and take over their body. Generally turning them into a headcrab zombie. Quick buggers too, but with a clean sweep of the crowbar all is well in the world and Mr. Freeman is on his way to save the day. Now its your turn to play zombie with your own cute headcrab. Reinact a scene from Half-life (NO CROWBARS!), get giggles on Halloween or just keep your head warm [Read more…]

Win Playex Snack Bowls- great for #kids and #baby

Ok everyone, are you sick of being able to find your kids by the trail of cereal? I personally just follow the wagging dog tail. Our pup loves little man because of his knack for ‘leaking’ snacks. How about the crumbs in the backseat or bottom of the travel bag? Stroller….floors….pants…..

Playtex heard our plight and have developed some new snack bowls. These bowls are the Twist n Click snack bowl and the Twist n Click snacker with flip top. These two bowls have similar features but are very different. Both have the click n twist lid. The click lets you know the top is on and your snacks are secure and won’t spill all over. The containers come in all kinds of bright friendly colors. The snacker has a top on it where little fingers can fit in and grab food but snacks don’t fall out. Also there is a flip out top which keeps your crumbs in the container and not spread out over the back seat of your car.

The top also easily snaps off so the handle so little hands won’t scream when they accidentally close the lid. The bowls stack nicely together with lids that fit perfectly and are perfect for little bowls of cereal. 🙂

One of you will be able to win these fun snack cups as well!

Aunt Anne’s Pretzel Kit and #Recipe (Make Monkey Bread) @AuntieAnnes

So we all have went o the mall for one thing or another. And of course we get a smell of both the cinnamon bun place and the pretzel place, Aunt Anne’s. Well, lets say instead of breaking down and buying the pretzel, you want to have a really interesting afternoon and MAKE the pretzels as home. Easy breezy, and delicious, Aunt Anne’s At Home Baking Kit .

When we made the pretzels they didn’t look exactly like the famous ones at retail locations, but they did taste really good. The best part was twisting them with the kids. Also the ability to try something different. Lets say a bit different like a pretzel dog or very different like a pretzel in the shape of a dog. Pretzel rods, pretzel circles maybe a pretzel knot. Also the ability to make salt/plain or cinnamon/sugar flavored or any strange flavor you can think of, like taco seasoning, etc.

So many possibilities so few pretzels per box. By the end of the box my mind was spinning with the possibilities. Could I make a cheese centered one? how about peanut butter? How bout Cheese flavored dough? What kind of shapes can I make? Maybe a Celtic knot, or an Escher-esque pattern of impossible turns.

We made Pretzel Dogs, they were really fun for the kids to have with lunch 🙂 But you can also make pizza, monkey bread, or how many kinds of pretzels? TONS.

DOUGH PREPARATION (1 DOUGH MIX)
NOTE: Baking Soda is not needed for this recipe. DO
NOT ADD BAKING SODA TO THE DOUGH MIX. Read all
instructions before proceeding.
1. In a large bowl, dissolve contents of 1 yeast packet in 1

Win Farm Rich Foods! 2 Winners @FarmRichSnacks

Farm Rich, makers of frozen appetizers like Mozzarella sticks, bites, pizza slices, and Philly Cheese steaks- have a lot to choose from in the way of quick, easy, and fun foods the whole family will enjoy.

We got a package of the Mozzarella sticks, because I let my son choose and he is a cheese-head. He liked them a lot, eating much of the package before daddy got any. Don’t worry, daddy got the rest of them 🙂 As I am on Nutrisystem at the moment, I can’t have them, but since the package was finished, I’d say that they were happy with the product.

One of you will also have the chance to try out these fun appetizers, great for tailgating, holidays, and parties- or if you are like me, just because!

BRX- My Go-To Travel Gear #travel #luggage #brxtravelgear

As you may remember from my previous BRX Travel Adventure Gear post, you know I love my new BRX gear.  It has been used nearly daily since I have gotten it, and they don’t look any worse for the wear.  But besides the daily use they get, they were killer for actual travel  🙂

My trip was postponed a bit (thanks Irene!)  and I just got home from my trip to Ohio for Bob Evans Farm Fest and then the original trip as well, put together  🙂
The Excursion Backpack never left my…well, back, LOL.  I loved it for every little thing- it was fabulous for keeping Little Man’s extra sweatshirt, clipping my keys to the side so I can then easily (this is for sure one of my favorite features) and it has two inside pouches- one for all my folders, itineraries, notebooks, the mini-flip cam and my mini-camera, and the other for Little Man’s collected “treasures” along the way, LOL.  Bungee bag on the side?  PERFECT for the always necessary sippy cup!  Love this backpack!   I wish I had bought it sooner.

I also have to tell you how convenient it was to have that front zipper pouch- 5 separate areas for you to put your items to find them easily, and I used each one on this trip.  It made it so easy to never have to search for things.
The Excursion Messenger bag was fab for carrying my laptop, all the wires, etc that I drag along with me.  I always keep my phone chargers, camera chargers, etc and all other electronic “necessities” in the same bag with the laptop- and this bag has plenty of room for it all.

It has a nice padded strap which means no matter how much junk I pack into it, it won’t rip my shoulder in half, LOL.  There is a strap that holds the laptop in, keeping it from touching outside edges, and securing it from falling out.  Can you tell I totally cleaned up for this photo?  Ha!  OK, no I didn’t.  I was dead tired after a very long drive and I totally needed to charge my stuff up!  🙂

I hope that you all get the chance to read my original post as well, it’s got some more great info in it.
Happy Travels!
