With Valentine’s Day looming, love is in the air.  We are thinking about it, watching movies and reading books about it, getting gifts in honor of it- in general, just dwelling on it.  In the entire animal kingdom (humans included, it often seems) a lifelong partnership is rare, but many species offer great examples of how to keep a relationship together. Monogamy and lifelong pair bonds are generally rare, but there’s a few species that manage to maintain their love alive. Consider making some changes in your daily life and routines to cut down the energy and fossil fuels you use.  If it isn’t to far, walk or take your bike.  Try to run multiple errands at once, instead of one at a time and conserve gas.  Never leave your car running, or go outside to “warm it up”. It wastes gas, and emits needless “carbon monoxide and nitrogen oxides, and almost a quarter of the hydrocarbons emitted into our air.
