Support the Polaris Project and Help End Human Trafficking

Have you heard of the Polaris Project?  They are an organization dedicated to helping those who are victims of human trafficking, and helping prevent others from being trafficked.  This month, they are asking you to become a North Star Guide. People just like you can be a guiding light for survivors of human trafficking by making a simple commitment to donate $25 every month.

I support Polaris Project with a monthly donation for many reasons… Whenever I call the National Human Trafficking Resource Center for materials or questions about human trafficking in the U.S., knowledgeable Polaris staffers are always there to help me out.” Sara Cochran

If you’re like Sara and value our work, but don’t know how to show it, here’s your answer: become a North Star Guide. By giving monthly, you’ll be joining a community that provides stable support for our relentless efforts to restore freedom and stop traffickers from preying on vulnerable people. Oftentimes, when people think of taking a family vacation, places like Disneyworld or taking a cross- country trip and checking out the Grand Canyon are the kinds of things that immediately come to mind.

Head for the Hills in Noosa

When you think of a holiday to Noosa, images of sun kissed beaches and the trendy shopping and dining precinct of Hastings Street immediately spring to mind and although these are certainly some of the most popular aspects of a visit to Noosa, there are certainly some excellent alternatives. Noosa is home to a wide range of accommodation options including beautiful beachfront properties as well as boutique accommodation options tucked away in the cosy hinterland just minutes from the beach.

What else is there to do?

Particularly popular with couples, Noosa accommodation in the hinterlands leave behind the hub of activity that is Hastings Street and the beachfront, for a more relaxing and intimate holiday experience. The Noosa hinterland stretches from Doonan all the way to Eumundi, Pomona, Cooroy, Kin Kin and Cooran and is just 10 minutes from Noosaville and about 20 minutes from Noosa Heads. The lush rolling hills form a patchwork of sparkling lakes, verdant valleys, tranquil forests, remarkable volcanic formations and friendly country towns.

The Value of Early Intervention

Lucy Therapist

“Early intervention” is a concept of some contention in the therapy profession. The reason for this contention is that early intervention status is a discrete certification that some therapy organizations have and others lack. This elevates it to the status of controversy because people disagree about its value in political or business-oriented terms. However, if you’re seeking individual therapy services as a parent, whether it’s eating therapy or all in 1 SPOT with Theratalk, the following is what you need to know about early intervention.

Early intervention is valuable because of how brains work. This is true of the human brain in general, as well as the brain of a child that is still developing. In general terms, human brains become entrenched in certain behaviors over time. Most of these are positive behaviors, like speech and general reasoning. This is, in fact, how we learn. However, some behaviors are maladaptive and not beneficial to the person engaging in them. These require treatment to be gradually steered away from, and therapy is the best option for that thus far. As such, the earlier this therapy begins, the better the ultimate outcome. It’s possible to begin therapy at any stage in life, but younger brains have an easier time learning and un-learning behaviors as necessary.

Costumes Costumes Everywhere

Costumes come in many varieties.  Some have specific meanings others none what so ever.  There are four general categories of costumes.  They are theatrical, national, holiday/festival, children and mascots.

We will look at a few examples of each and a short description.

First p is theatrical.  These costumes are for showing of some kind, either in a play/musical, television, movie, etc.  These costumes are varied almost as much as a category could be.  Everything from historically accurate garb to space alien suits can fit in this category as long as they are for theatrical enjoyment.

Next up is national costumes.  These costumes emphasis the differences between a particular culture and others.  Examples are the traditional tunic for men from India.  Kimonos from Japan and the baseball hat from the United States.
