With a 3 year old and a 1 year old, I find myself always trying to find the perfect items for them to play with, and most importantly not bring more “junk” into my house. Wouldn’t it be nice if someone would just send you the perfect items right to your house? Well guess what? I have found that perfect company. Little Pnuts is just that.

About Little Pnuts:

Melissa realized that there was a real need for high quality, all natural, non-battery operated toys. When her children were young she started researching and trying to find toys that would work and be great for her kids. She realized that the American toy market could not provide her with what she was looking for, attractive toys that would enhance every sensorial perspective toys that would provide challenges, toys that would engage while providing a sense of accomplishment. These toys needed to enhance gross and fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination and help develop the focus and concentration.

Melissa then decided to turn to the European market and after a great deal of research, found exactly what she was looking for. Unfortunately, at the time, these toys were not easily accessible in the US, but she had family there that was more than happy to send them to her.

Beginning in 2012, Melissa decided it was time to combine her former skills and her newfound admiration for high quality educational toys to develop a company that would bring these toys to families in the US.

#Tuckerton Seaport – A Fun Day at the Jersey Shore

This is a post by my husband Ian, who took my son to Tuckerton for a fun event.

Tuckerton Seaport is a quaint little town in Central New Jersey. We were invited to the Bluegrass and Barbeque festival at the seaport which emphasized the history and fun of the area. The festival kicks off the start of summer fun at Tuckerton Seaport.

100_3966The festival includes fun food, including American BBQ and Caribbean as well as good music. There was also a musical petting zoo which let kids of all ages touch and try musical instruments of all types. Drums, washboards, guitars, even dancing marionettes were involved filling the room with noise and laughter. There were crafts and educational segments. At one experience, we were able to hunt for water bugs to measure the amount of pollution in the water. [Read more…]

Fun Summer Activities to Help Kids Beat the Heat

Kids love summer for a few reasons. First and foremost, there’s no school! That means they get to sleep in, there’s no homework, and they can spend their days in leisurely pursuits like reading for fun, playing video games, going to the park, and hanging out with friends. And the best part is that they can enjoy the warm weather that is part and parcel of the summer months. But when the temperatures start to soar, your kids may find that spending even a few minutes outdoors leaves them feeling and looking like boiled lobsters, no matter how much sunblock you slather on. So if you’re looking for a few good ways to help them beat the heat and have fun during their summer vacation, here are a few fun activities that you’ll definitely want to try.

beach days

  1. Beach days. Whether you live near a coastline or you’re in a landlocked state and your only nearby water sources are rivers and lakes, you can have some family summer fun by packing up the car and heading to your favorite local beach for the day. Get the kids in their swimsuits, grab a few towels, and load up your cooler with sandwiches and snacks. And don’t forget to bring a good book and a bucket waterproof sunblock. The kids can cool off by jumping in and out of the water all day and you can get some much needed R&R in the process. In short, it’s a win-win summer activity.
  2. Public pool. Just because you can’t get off work or all the beaches are too far away [Read more…]

Plan for your Future – A Very Broad Statement

We have all heard it and chances are that we have said it as well – planning for the future can mean a million different things. Okay, that may be a little dramatic, but you get the point. What your future looks like may be similar to mine or it may be vastly different. Regardless there are things you can do to help you achieve those goals.

The truth is that you can’t predict the future and what you thought was your path may not be what is in store for you after all. So when you plan, you will want to plan for the worst while hoping for the best.

Planning A Vacation

It is no secret that travel arrangements are at the forefront of a lot of my daily plans. Where will my family go next, and how will we afford to take the trip? Will we drive or fly? Rent a hotel or condo? All of these are questions I find myself answering frequently.

All of the little details can be fun, but without the financial backing a vacation can seem impossible. I start with a budget and then make sure that I have the best credit card rates possible before even taking any steps toward a week filled with relaxation and family bliss. If I find that I could be benefiting from lower interest rates, I look at balance transfer credit cards and go from there.

clear out clutter
Summer time is here and with that comes trips to the pool, adventures in shopping and maybe even a family vacation. Unfortunately, with the bright summer weather, you might not feel like doing any housecleaning. Most people feel a little inspired to clean when the first days of spring arrive, but summertime is still a great time to clean out your house and get rid of any excess clutter.

Once of the best reasons to clean out your extra clutter this summer is to make a little extra cash. While many people realize that they can have a garage sale to make extra money, a lot of people don’t realize just how much money they can make selling things online. Whether [Read more…]
