Animal Planet Sherpa Pet Blanket

Dog on Animal Planet Dog Blanket

Have you ever walked around a pet store and wondered why there are basically two categories of pet care products? The stuff made for pets, which is made of sub par materials and inferior quality where the thought process seems like,’it’s for a dog, they don’t know the difference.’ Then there are the high quality, supplies. The kids of things that make you say, ‘wow, I want to sleep on that’ or “I would run around with that in my mouth!’ OK so the second one is a bit more rare then the first, but only the best for our little furry or scaly friends.

As most of you already know the most recent addition to the Have Sippy foster pet family is Leela. Leela is a mixed breed dog who is a sweetheart when she wants to be, but most times acts more like a cat then a dog. A bratty cat, at that. Meaning she could give a care about following you around or protecting you, and for the most parts sees people as food dispensers between ‘dog-naps’ on the couch. She is also very good at removing stuffing and running off, and can even open doors. Beds, toys, anything with stuffing (including Little Man’s toys) are fair game and must contain some treasure at the bottom only she can determine. So when we saw the Animal Planet Pet Blanket we had hoped this would be perfect as a new bed for her. There is minimal stuffing while still offering warmth when she wants it. The blanket measures 40″ x 50″ which is prefect for our critter and is so soft and warm Dad wanted to sleep under it. This is of course unacceptable to Leela, but as long as she can sleep in his bed, he can sleep in hers. (Kidding)

How to Avoid Going Into Holiday Debt This Season

The holiday season is a great time for giving, but unless you’re sitting on some kind of awesome stockpile of ungiven gifts, all that giving can actually wind up getting pretty expensive. And unless you’ve got a job that sees you getting an awful lot, many of us can find ourselves feeling a pretty significant amount of pressure when it comes to all that giving that’s required of us around the holidays. Of course, it’s wonderful to be around your family and friends — as the days get shorter and the weather gets colder, it’s very important to celebrate the people who make us the happiest. Whether you’re giving a ton of gifts, entertaining a ton of people, or are simply just participating in all that wonderful, yearly holiday madness, things can still get pretty expensive around the end of the year, and a lot of us wind up with a few extra new year’s resolutions to make sure we can get back in the black after all that rampant Christmas and Thanksgiving-time spending. It doesn’t always have to be like this, however, and especially lately, there has been a lot of work done towards figuring out how to navigate the holidays without spending an ungodly amount of cash. We’ll talk about some of the smartest strategies that can help you avoid putting yourself in serious debt so you don’t have to start the new year eating ramen for months straight.

Close to Home: Camping in Your Backyard

You don’t have to take your family to a distant campground to have a day surrounded by nature.
Instead, let your backyard serve as the perfect place for a family camping adventure. With the help of
your own creativity, you can replicate the real camping experience for your children.

Make Your Preparations

Before your adventure begins, take a look at your camping gear. If you plan to sleep outside in the
backyard, you’ll need a tent and a few sleeping bags. You should also prepare some tasty foods that you
can eat outside. If you have a barbecue, you should plan to use it to grill up some favorite camp foods.
Sandwiches also work great for meals in your backyard camp. Be sure to bring along some favorite
camping snacks, including jerky and trail mix. Don’t forget to bring enough bottled water and other
drinks for everyone.

Prepare Your Campsite

Next, ask your children to help you transform your yard into a fun campsite. Help your children pick a
good spot to place the tent. [Read more…]

Best seaside assisted living on the East Coast- Guest Post

With its miles and miles of beautiful beaches, the East Coast is one of the most popular targets
for tourists in our country. It is also one of its most historical sections, being the location of the
original thirteen states. Many people make their homes along the coastline so that they can look
at the ocean every day when they wake up. Similarly, there are assisted living facilities (ALFs)
all along the coast for those who need assistance in carrying out the essential activities of daily
living, but who are too young for the old folks’ home. Following are descriptions of some of the
best of them.

Seaside Health Care, Portland, Maine

Seaside Health Care is located close to the sea, overlooking Back Cove, and has six care
options—short stay, long-term care, longer-term rehabilitation, respite care, assisted living and
hospice. In the field of assisted living, they provide “the perfect balance of care when you need it
and dignified independence when you don’t.” Residents have access to nursing care around the
clock. They also have live music and baseball games, and even take their members on cruises
along the bay. Seaside Health Care also has the advantage of being near many of Portland’s best
cultural attractions.

Compass on the Bay (formerly the Bay View), Boston

Compass of the Bay, located along Old Harbor, is especially good for those who are suffering
from Alzheimer’s disease or memory loss. They provide medication management assistance,
meals, housekeeping and other personal care services. Each resident is given a spacious private
apartment of his own with all the care that he needs just outside. Members have praised the
cheerful and helpful nature of the staff.

I Wish You Peace.

Come On, Eileen….

These people round here
Wear beaten down eyes sunk
In smoke dried faces
They’re so resigned to what their fate is
But not us (no not ever)
But not us (not ever)

May the Christmas and Holiday Season remind us to love others, and judge not lest ye be judged. To listen more then we talk, and to try to be good people even when it is hard. When we are angry or don’t understand the actions of others, instead of causing them grief and sadness, perhaps reach out and try to have a civil conversation with them. Don’t listen to idle gossip, or worse, spread slanderous words about others. Often times, one finds they don’t have all (or any) of the facts in a given situation. Talk with the ones you love if they matter to you, resolve your worries. I hope this holiday season brings you peace and love, and maybe [Read more…]
