Top gadgets for your home

Although our homes can be a wonderful place of respite from the stresses of modern life, there are also numerous gadgets to provide a little digital assistance around the house.

So from hi-tech tablets that can deliver you into the exciting world of online blackjack, to gizmos that can check the dietary content of your dinner, here’s a look at the current range of gadgets that can transform your home in 2016.

Entertainment tech

Most of us will be familiar with the pleasures of unwinding with a good evening in front of Netflix, but the new Apple TV device makes watching a range of television shows and movies all the more fun with its voice-activated remote control.

Of course, many of us like watching TV in bed which is where the current range of tablets can work wonders in liberating us from the sofa. Although they are great for watching media, they are also well-suited for a little online gaming with adult puzzle games such as Monument Valley, and even Betway’s casino site featuring a range of table games that also provides the option to download this online blackjack game to your smartphone for extra convenience in your entertainment activities.

Kitchen aids

But it’s not just games and TV that have been given a 21st century update, as our lives in the kitchen have been made a whole lot easier thanks to iCuisine’s range of kitchen gadgets that all feature sensors to monitor the progress of the preparation of your meal.

If you’re wondering what’s actually in that frozen pizza that’s been lurking in the freezer for the past few months, then the DietSensor device can scan your food so that you get a better idea of how many carbs and nutrients you’re ingesting.

And for those of us who always forget something when we hit the supermarket, then the current range of smart fridges can alert you when you’re running low on a particular item, and some of them even open the door automatically upon your arrival.

Security

The internet of the things has been something of a buzzword amongst tech advocates recently. And our homes look to be more secure than ever thanks to the likes of the LG Smart Security system that can turn your home into Fort Knox at the push of a button. Whereas the EzViz brand have released an easy-to-use range of cameras that can perform a range of tasks from looking after the little ones, to monitoring the shadowy areas around your garden.

So from lightweight devices that allow you to play online blackjack in the bath, to sensors that can reveal the surprising truth of what’s in your lasagne, it seems that the current range of gadgets is granting us unprecedented information and power in our homes.

A Guide to Developing a Healthy Body Image

Developing a healthy body image is really important. If you don’t make sure you love yourself and see yourself as a whole, you might start developing illnesses. Some people develop eating disorders, while some develop things like body dysmorphic syndrome. This can lead to things like excessive weight loss, muscle gain, weight gain, and more. The way we feel about ourselves is often down to many factors, including how we’ve been brought up and the things we’ve been brought up around. It’s never too late to develop a healthy body image, but the earlier you do it, the better. Here are some ideas to help you:

Make a List of Things You Like About Yourself

By making a list of things you like about yourself, you have something to focus on if you begin to feel down. Add to the list as often as you like, not matter how small or insignificant something may seem. Don’t worry about what you’re writing on there; nobody else is going to see it! You could say things like you love your long legs and delicate feet. You could say you love the shape of your eyes and how plump your lips are. You could say things like you love your skin tone and how your skin stays clear. You probably have so many more things you are grateful for than you realize! Start appreciating these things today. You more than likely have so many things that other people wish they had.

Don’t Focus on Specific Body Parts
When we look in the mirror, it’s easy to focus on specific body parts. For instance, a wobbly tummy or cellulite on the bum. Try your hardest not to focus on these parts! It won’t do you any good. Instead, see yourself as a whole person when you look in the mirror. That’s how other people see you. Nobody looks at the things you hate just as much as you do, and more than likely won’t even notice them! It can take some practice, but you’ll feel so much better when you start seeing yourself as a whole.

Treat Yourself

Treat yourself nicely. If you don’t, how can you expect anybody else to? Speak to yourself as you would a friend in your head. Stop telling yourself you’re not good enough! If you wouldn’t say it to a friend, avoid saying it altogether! You should also make the effort to regularly pamper yourself. You can take baths and do home facials. You can even schedule a monthly massage or manicure; something that makes you feel good about yourself! Why not? You deserve it!

Start Eating Properly

Eating properly is so important. You should never starve yourself or solely eat low calorie foods in an attempt to lose weight. This can mean you develop an unhealthy relationship with food. Stop using food to reward yourself or make yourself feel better too. Food is fuel! Learn how to cook yourself tasty, healthy meals full of vegetables. Eat when you’re hungry and stop when you’re full. When you begin eating like this, it’s unlikely you’ll ever experience problems with your weight.

Get Some Exercise

Make sure you get regular exercise, but don’t obsess over it. You should aim for at least twice a week if you’re just starting out, working up to maybe 4 times a week. You still need rest, so you shouldn’t overdo training. Rather than training for a specific aesthetic goal, train mostly for health reasons. Aim to run a little faster, lift a little heavier, and work on your endurance. You can even aim to lose body fat to get to a healthy weight, and reduce the risk of health problems. Work up a sweat a few times a week and you’ll feel so much better in so many aspects of your life.

Take the Media With a Pinch of Salt

In the media, we’ve always seen pictures of seemingly perfect women. But you must remember that these women have teams of professionals behind them to make them look like that. They have the right lighting, cameramen, and even people to tell them how to pose. All of that before they are actually photoshopped and ready to be put in the magazine! Aim to be the best version of yourself, and don’t let the media get you down.

Turn Negative Into Positives

If you perceive something as a negative now, do your best to turn it into a positive. How? For example, if you don’t like your big thighs, you could think about how you’re grateful for having strong legs. Everybody is unique and different and it’s things like that that make you, you!

Accept Compliments

Accept compliments rather than bat them away. When most people give compliments, they are being authentic and genuine. You should bask in the glow of a compliment and really appreciate it, because rest assured they mean it!

See a Doctor

If there’s a part of your body that you don’t like with good reason, maybe it is out of proportion or distracting, you could see a doctor to discuss your options. Belcarahealth.com/ could give you some great advice on what to do. Providing you have an otherwise healthy body image, then getting something that seriously affects your confidence sorted out shouldn’t be an issue.

Wear Clothes That Flatter Your Figure

Instead of wearing clothes that hide your figure, aim to wear clothes that flatter it instead. Learn all about your body type and shape and learn how to dress it to make you feel more comfortable. The clothes we wear can greatly influence the way we feel and act!

Realize Somebody Else’s Image Doesn’t Change Yours

You may look at somebody and see that they have a beautiful face or body. Don’t let yourself feel jealous of them or resent them. Instead, admire them. It’s OK to admire somebody else’s beauty without it taking away from your own. The fact that they are beautiful doesn’t make you any less beautiful! The more positive you can be about others, the more positive you can be about yourself too.
I hope this guide helps you on your way to a healthy body image!

Could Vegas Be Perfect For A Family Vacation?

What do you think of when you picture Vegas in your head? I imagine most people immediately form the image of gambling in their mind. A murky casino, filled with smoke and crowds of people bent over roulette wheels. Well, let’s cast that image aside right now. First, casinos in Vegas are nothing like that. They’re stunning with golden walls and beautiful designs that are a pleasure to spend your time in. However, that still doesn’t help when you’re thinking of somewhere to take your kids. Kids won’t be allowed on the casino floor. You might think that this makes Vegas a pretty awful choice for a family holiday. But you’d be wrong. There are lots of things you can do as a family in this massive playground.

pic1
See The Lights

If you’re staying in Vegas with your family, you need to go out and explore the city at night. Hire a limo and get chauffeured around dazzling displays of colour and wonder. The neon lights of Vegas will be like nothing you’ve ever seen before. You can even go and check out the Eiffel Tower. Or at least, the Vegas version of this famous monument. It’s just as impressive as the real deal. Every hotel has a different show and display so you could spend hours travelling around without getting bored.

Incredible Accommodation

If you have the cash, there is some truly incredible accommodation to stay in when visiting vegas. There’s a hotel that has a roller coaster built into its roof. Or how about an outdoor glass lift, similar to the one your kids might have seen in Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory. Vegas is a place where dreams come true, and they’ve certainly tried to give kids things to enjoy as well. In one hotel room, you can bowl a strike in your room. Yes, there is a room in Vegas with it’s own bowling alley. It will cost you a fortune to rent but would it be worth it? I think so.

See A Show

Not all the shows in Vegas are R rated. In fact there are quite a few that are perfect for the whole family. Don’t forget that this is the place where fame sensations come to wind down their career. Or just take a break. If you have a look at this site you can get Vegas tickets for Justin Bieber, Billy Idol or Celine Dion. There are shows for every generation, no matter how old your kids are.

Explore Outside The City

Don’t forget when you visit Vegas you’ll be nearby a number of other sites such as the Hoover dam. Take your kids to view this monumental man made achievement. If you head over there in the early hours of dawn, you’ll be in for a tremendous view not to be missed.
I hope you see now that Vegas isn’t just a place where adults can gamble their life savings. It could be the perfect destination for a fun family adventure that you’ll never forget.

Top Tips For Settling Into A New Home

There are few occasions in a person’s life which are more exciting than moving into a new home. This is cause for celebration, whoever you are! Whether you are moving in with others, it is an exciting time, and you should make the most of it. Yet, there are also a lot of different things to get sorted. Sometimes, it can be hard to keep track of it all. But that doesn’t mean that you need to become stressed. If you take things one step at a time, the entire process can become a joy! Have a look at these top tips for how to settle into your new home.

New Home, New Address

This is one of those jobs which are so little, but seem so big! It is amazing how long we can put something like this off for. But it is simple to change your address. The hardest part is remembering which people and institutions you need to tell. A good place to start is with the financial ones. Tell your bank first, so you can start receiving your statements again. While you’re at it, give the car insurance company a call and tell them, too. Otherwise, it may be invalid if you need to make a claim! After that, it’s only a matter of trying to remember to tell all your friends.

Security & Pest Control

Nobody wants the worst to happen, but unfortunately, it does happen to some. That’s why it’s a good idea to get your new place as secure as possible from the outset. It’s up to you how far to go with it. Some people will want to install a full-blown security system, and that is fine. It all depends on the area you have moved into and your own opinion. You also want to ensure that your new home is free of pests – click here for info.

Setting Up the Essentials

This is a great one to do in those idle moments between unpacking boxes. By essentials here, we mean things like getting your utilities sorted. It’s a good time to look into the particular situation in your new home. You need to find out, for example, what kind of energy the house uses, and who currently provides it. You then want to make sure you shop around – don’t just accept the provider without looking! There is a good chance you will find a better deal elsewhere. Particularly as a lot of energy companies have offers for new customers. All this needn’t be a big task – it’s just a case of looking online as you have a break from unpacking.

The Neighborhood
Last but not least: get to know your neighbors. Today, we are sometimes guilty of not being active within our local communities. For this reason alone, this is an imperative step. All it takes is to knock on a couple of doors and introduce yourself. While you’re at it, why not see if any local clubs or groups look interesting to you? Once you get involved in the local community, you start to feel right at home.

Fun Valentine’s Day Gifts for the Family

If you are looking for the perfect gift for your kids and spouse this Valentines Day, we’ve put together a little list to make your shopping that much easier.  Check out some of our picks, and see what strikes your fancy.

pic4

For your littlest Valentine, head to Hallmark.  You can do quite a bit of shopping there, but what we loved was the Love-a-Saurus Techno Plush, new for this year.  This cutie roars and dances when you push his button.  Perfect for boys or girls (and even “big kids”), this bright red dino will break it down to “U Can’t Touch This” by MC Hammer, which kids will groove to, and moms and dads will wax nostalgic. It is $33, or $18 when you buy 3 cards. You can also find an assortment of adorable itty bittys- sweet toys that fit in the palm of your hand- including new Thing 1 and Thing 2. Your favorite troublemakers from Dr. Seuss’ Cat in the Hat, with Valentine hearts for their antennae to be festive for the holiday.  They are available for $7 each. Of course, you can always get an assortment of cards perfect for Valentines Day (or any occasion) at Hallmark.  This year they also have new cards from the Signature collection, itty bitty Valentines (to go with your itty bitty stuffed toys) as well as from  Hallmark designers Justin & Tuesday Spray, which are just beautiful.  You can pick up these items at Hallmark.com and at Hallmark Gold Crown stores.

For tweens, teens, and spouses, we loved the lovely gifts from Oragami Owl. Not only is the jewelry beautiful, but it’s unique because you customize it for the one you love (and it’s much more affordable then some other lines). Choose the color, size, shape, and more, as well as the charms that go inside and/or outside, the length and type of chain used, and all the other details. You can even add Swarovski crystals for a bit more color and sparkle. Origami Owl lets you pick out items that highlight special memories about your Valentine, and will be a truly cherished gift for that reason- it’s about the bond you two share. You can choose from necklaces, bracelets, wrap bracelets (a hot trend right now), lockets, and more at www.OrigamiOwl.com. Prices vary, check out the site and choose the item(s) that you like best for the ladies in your life.

Another option for the girls and women in your life is the environmentally-friendly and non-toxic Duri nail polish collection. Also safe from DBP, Tolune, and Formaldehyde, you can buy these separately or in a cute Valentine’s Day set of four, in a sweetheart box ready for gift giving.

While there are more then 250 shades of Duri (sounds like a book, yes?), the Valentine’s Day collection includes “every day is a Valentine” red, “cupid rules” pink, the pastel “iced roses”, “unexpected kiss” in a light purple-pink, and “sweetheart”, a bright shade of orangy-red. This is a great gift for the female of nearly any age in your life- most women, from the littlest girl on up, love their mani-pedi’s. Grab singles for 6$ each, or the gift set for $24 at www.duri.com

For the coffee lover in your life, take a look at the Trudeau espresso maker. This bedside pot makes getting your morning java that much easier with a convenient stainless-steel stove top espresso maker. Just fill it up, brew your beans in true Italian style, and serve. It uses pressure for the water, and has a safety release valve for the steam to be released from. The handle stays cool to the touch, so you don’t need to worry about burns. It’s also portable, so you can take it with you anywhere you go- you can use it for regular coffee if you would like as well, making it a good camping tool. It cleans easily in the dishwasher, and has a 5 year warranty as well, so it is well worth the price of $70 at http://www.shoptrudeau.com/ .
