How to Save Money on Family Summer Essentials

With summer just around the corner, the kids are out of school and ready to play in the sunshine; the
world feels happier and more excited in the vibrant air that summer brings. It can be hard to stick to a
budget during the summer months with all the excitement, but here are ways to help you save on those
summer essentials for your family while still having a blast.

Start by purchasing new swimwear, beach towels, pool accessories, and any other summer products
during blowout sales during the fall and winter. Stores will clear out summer merchandise to make way
for the next season’s merchandise and with a little planning ahead you can capitalize on the low prices to
stock up for the next summer. You could save hundreds on gearing up for summer by stocking up during
the off seasons.

If you and your spouse have to work during the weeks, consider making arrangements with friends and
family to keep the costs of childcare lower. If there are a lot of kids around the neighborhood, you could
all pool your resources and hire a sitter or two for all the kids. You could switch days you take each other’s
children or offer a younger sibling or a niece or nephew of an appropriate age to watch your kids for
cheaper than daycares would charge.

Save on your summer food costs by focusing your meals around what’s in season in your area. In season
produce will be cheaper than out of season choices and are available from farmer’s markets and other
local sources so you aren’t paying for the transportation of your food from far away lands. There’s also
no better time than summer to start your own vegetable garden. Your own garden will really [Read more…]

TheFind App

TheFind is a great new app. We have discussed this before and as a refresher, TheFind.com is an app for android and the iOS platform where you have access to thousands of catalogs. This app is great and its free check them out here TheFind. TheFind is compatible with most phones. tablets, ipod, etc. IF its ‘smart’ then this will probably work on it.

This app is easy to find and use. In our case we hoped onto the Android Store and searched for TheFind. It quickly pulled up the app and installation was a breeze. The download was quick as well. The interface is graphic instead of text which is nice. The opening screen has a splash of catalogs. From here you can either browse their current catalogs or search for a specific item you are looking for. Maybe a sale on [Read more…]

Roasted Vegetable Burritos Recipe

There’s a funny story behind this recipe as the two people who inspired me to try Tofu a few months back happen to be Sam (the one and only), and Grace over at Blessed Elements. They bombarded my facebook wall (happily greeted by myself) and I honestly don’t remember how tofu even came up in discussion. They intrigued me, so it started the hunt for recipes. Since then I have tried several recipes with the not so favorite ingredient and happen to really enjoy it. This recipe is made with Sam and Grace in mind because if it weren’t for their conversation I never would have even tried tofu! Big thanks to them for bringing a new ingredient into my kitchen experiments!

My kids do enjoy this meal, though they make me pile on more cheese. Who can blame them? Cheese , you just can’t go wrong with it!

Roasted Vegetable Burritos

Ingredients
8-10 large whole wheat or white flour tortillas *You can use small ones if you have it on hand)
8 ounces firm tofu cut up into
