EatSmart Kitchen Scale Reivew and C0NTEST!

The holidays are coming along faster and faster. Holidays bring around family and very good food. I can’t wait for dessert myself. There are always so many wonderful treats it is very difficult to stick to diets and such. MY opinion is, one day will not hurt that badly, just do not go too nuts and just right back on the diet train right after the holidays.

To help with this consider measuring out portions and not overdoing it. The EatSmart kitchen scale is prefect for this. With proper portions just about anything is OK. Am I saying use a quarter stick of butter on a bagel is a perfectly healthy meal? No, I am not. Half a teaspoon of butter on a half of a whole grain bagel along with some fruit and low fat milk would make a decent breakfast. But all portions should be measured out to keep from over doing it. Take a look at this scale over at EatSmart. It is small easy to use, exact and runs on AAA batteries. These batteries are included with the scale as well, a nice touch. Another great usage of this scale, is postage calculation. That extra ounce can cost a pretty penny when sending out box after box to relatives around the country. Maybe not what they had in mind- but the hubs keeps stealing it to do this….Men.

EatSmart has also been doing a donation drive this year titled Charity of the Month. For every click through and purchase on Amazon through their site a certain percentage of the purchase is donated to a different charity each month. December’s charity is the Make A Wish Foundation. I think this is a great idea and gets consumers donating without really changing much.

Top Home Security Tips for the Holiday Season

With the holidays just around the corner, you don’t to come home and find that a real life Grinch has
stolen Christmas … and everything else in your house. Though this is traditionally a season of love and
sharing, you don’t want to give away your most valuable possessions to Christmas thieves. Consider
these tips for affordable home security solutions that will allow you to have a happy holiday with peace
on earth … and of mind.

Lock down. Though it may seem like common sense, many people don’t lock their doors when they’re
not at home, even in urban areas. Often it’s because they planned to be “right back” or because “I was
just going to the store for a minute!” That minute is all it takes for a crafty burglar to walk into your
unguarded, unlocked home and ransack it, making off with all this year’s Christmas presents. Make sure
that your doors are locked and that the locks are in solid working condition. Test the locks especially if
you live in a colder climate and make sure they are maintained.

Lights on! Thieves can often be fooled if you leave the lights on while you’re away. Take advantage
of the holiday season by leaving your Christmas tree all lit up. Even running the television or radio
gives the illusion that someone is home after all. If you don’t feel comfortable with “wasting” all that
electricity, set your lights on a timer.

Alarms. If you’re on a holiday budget, you can usually find inexpensive [Read more…]

A Very Vintage Christmas Annual Christmas Cookie Tour of Inns Nets Thousands for Charities 4th

Amish Country, OH – Recipes of Christmas past spiced up the 4th Annual Christmas Cookie Tour of
Inns during A Very Vintage Christmas event on December 4 and 5, 2011. Visitors from across Ohio
and adjoining states toured the Amish Country Lodging Council’s 4th Annual Tour, a two-day charity
event, which sold 1,200 tickets, and raised more than $13,000 net profits for recipients, Hospice
of Holmes County and the Love Center Food Pantry. In addition to benefiting charities, the event
awarded hospitality providers a stage to showcase their award-winning and unique properties.

Amish Country’s finest inns and bed and breakfasts prepared classic delights from the recipe book
Festive Favorites and served them up with 1940’s flare. Festive Favorites, a compilation of over 350
delectable cookie recipes, features classic treats bound by country proverbs. Festive Favorites editors
Char Kellogg and Fran Mast offered baking tips and a book signing at the Berlin Hotel and Suites.

The twelve inns showcased on this year’s tour were: the Barn Inn, Berlin Grande Hotel, Berlin
Hotel and Suites, Carlisle Inn Sugarcreek, Carlisle Inn Walnut Creek, Comfort Inn Millersburg,
Donna’s Premier Lodging, Guggisberg Swiss Inn, Hannah’s House Retreat, Hilltop Manor B&B, Hotel
Millersburg, and Zinck’s Inn.

How to Avoid Roaming Charges When You Travel Abroad

Roaming charges – which you pay to wireless providers when you use your phone out of your service
area – are a quick way to put a damper on any traveling you do, whether it’s for business or for
pleasure, home or overseas. As you grow to rely more and more on the variety of handheld devices
you own, it may come as some surprise – or a horrific shock – when you receive your phone bill and find
that roaming charges have been adding up. Many people don’t consider them at all while using their
phones, for instance, to check their social media sites or even perform a simple online search. When
traveling abroad, you are more likely to rack up these charges. Follow these tips to avoid them:

Wi Fi. You won’t pay any roaming fees for using wi fi, and since most smartphones are set to check
email at regular intervals, you can turn off the data roaming option on your phone until you’re in an
area with this free service or set it to airplane mode. Even if the wi fi isn’t free, it is usually cheaper that
roaming charges. You can also consider renting a wi fi bubble, a tiny device that costs less the longer
you use it and can connect you in several European countries at once. Some countries offer limitless
data usage with this service. If you have access to wi fi, you can also Skype for free rather than speaking
on the telephone (though you both must call another Skype account with your own).

Prepaid package. [Read more…]

Insurance- You Have it, RIGHT????

Ok all, lets take a moment to talk about something no one wants to. Life Insurance. No one wants to think about this portion of their lives. But it is necessary for any parents. It would be horrible to leave your family early with nothing more then the sorrow in their heart. On average a funeral costs about $10,000. I would say at bare minimum you would want this much coverage.

Please- I am not an expert and I am talking with just common sense, but I do think you should talk to a professional. Get some life insurance quotes and figure out what works best or you. I would also suggest discussing this with family members and friends. This is something [Read more…]
