Here We Are in Florida! So- Where to stay in Clearwater?

Yay, we made it to Florida! We are in Clearwater, at the Hilton Clearwater Beach Resort. It is only 20 minutes from the Tampa Airport, and so easy to find. Oh, and did I mention it’s completely beautiful here? And it was 78 degrees when we landed? Bye-bye, winter weather!

The Hilton Clearwater Beach Resort is not just a beautiful hotel, but is super centrally located. The hotel itself is right on the beautiful, sandy white beach- you walk out the door (or look out your balcony) and there it is- the ocean. The beach! Powder soft sand meets your steps, there is a shower when you are ready to rinse off and head back to the room- or maybe just one of the two pools (or hot tub!)

The pool was so warm, and I love the little ledge around the entire thing. Lets you just still and relax.

After we relaxed poolside for a bit, we went right next door to Pier 60- The Sunsets at Pier 60 (literally, next door) have nightly celebrations that take place on Pier 60 Park on Clearwater Beach. This free family-friendly nightly event is the place to be for art, crafts, street performances, musical entertainment, the park (several large areas, actually) and even free movies on a large screen- tonight, it was The Grinch! The Pea in Peanut Butter- Cute Kids Book :)

This eve we are looking at a cute book called The Pea in Peanut Butter. Gotta tell you, the title caught me right away. I am a huge fan of peanut butter. Without it, I think I would stop eating. Recently in there was a peanut butter shortage (yes, in real life!) and I checked all the stores on the way home from work to be sure we were still good, then still bought 3 jars just in case. This is a real fact.

This is the story of a little girl named Kailee who is not such a great eater. Adventurous when it comes to peanut butter, but veggies don’t interest her at all. Mostly its the colors that do her in. Green specifically. Fortunately, we personally have a vacuum and a dust buster when it comes to eaters in our house so this isn’t really a problem for us. But I have seen picky eaters in the wild (also known as the Pre-K). The worst is when a picky kid eater becomes a picky [Read more…]

Miyako Glossy Ceramic Chef’s Knife

We all have knives in our kitchens. I’m guessing quite a few knives, some serrated, some not, all sharp and not meant to be played with. The main issue with most knives is they are made of metal. The issue with metal knives is that they can easily transfer flavors and smells from food to food. They also lose their sharp edge quickly, needing to be sharpened regularly.

Ceramic knives are a whole different monster. The big difference between ceramic and metal knives is (clearly) the material. Miyako is one of the more well respected ceramic [Read more…]

Create a Labeling System to Get Your Home Organized

All of us would like to live in a house like Donna Reed’s, a spic-and-span domicile with nary a spec of
dirt or a couch cushion out of place. But the reality of most modern homes is that both parents work
(or there is only one parent in attendance) and between jobs, kids, pets, and everything else that life
throws at you, keeping your home clean and organized is the least of your worries. So you let things go
until suddenly you start to wonder if your house could be featured on an episode of Hoarders! Okay, it’s
probably not that bad, but if you’re facing some serious clutter and you’re not sure how to get it under
control, one of the best ways to organize your space is to create a system of labeling that ensures every
last thing has a place to go.

You’ll want to start, of course, with a massive decluttering. Sift through “stuff” in the living room,
dining room, bedrooms, bathrooms, home office, and even cupboards and closets. Clear out everything
that you don’t need and won’t use. Donate usable items to charity thrift stores (they often pick up),
including extra furnishings that are just taking up space, and toss anything that is broken, worn, or no
longer functional. Now that you’ve figured out what you’re going to keep, it’s time to decide where it’s
going to go; and storage space can be a problem.

If it quickly becomes clear that you really don’t have adequate storage to accommodate all of your stuff,
you need to see what you can do to expand your storage solutions. Cabinets and shelves can both be
helpful as long as they are appropriately sized for your space. Modular [Read more…]

And This Week on #NSNation @Nutrisystem :) 30 LBS GONE!

OK, so last week was kind of a wash- with nothing lost, and .5 gained (cest la vie! ‘Twas Thanksgiving, lol)
But hey- guess what. My total weight loss with this weeks 2.5 lb weight loss is……30 lbs! (Since on Nutrisystem).

(I’ll get you a better picture for next week- it’s rough with winter- too many bulky clothes to see what you lost!) BUT I got back into my favorite Pea Coat, that I have not worn since before my son was born- I took a photo of that today, so I will post it next week 🙂

Yeah, man! OK, so I didn’t even really try to stick with the Nutrisystem for Thanksgiving- but I knew I wouldn’t, so I only did Nutrisystem breakfasts and I did a lot, a lot of exercise last week. This past week I have gone back to my regular schedule, [Read more…]
