Downy Wrinkle Releaser- Home and On the Go

Disclosure- we received the below in order to facilitate this review.  All opinions are our own and honest.  For more, see “I Disclose”.
downyDuring the summer (or any season really) life seems to speed up.  I often think it should be otherwise, it rarely works out that way. As such, your activities had to have priorities- whats more important? Catching on on some summer reading or ironing?  Personally I would say reading but ironing still needs to be done.  To the rescue Downy!

Downy have recently released a new spray called Downy Wrinkle Releaser.  This simple to use fabric fresher makes your day move a lot quicker as well as a day saver.  The way this works is, first hang up your garment, then spray it with the Release then tug to pull out the wrinkles.  That is all there is to it.  Simple and quick so not only would this be a time saver with ironing but also a savior when you find out that blouse that you planned on wearing to work today fell off the hanger and has been wrinkled.  The Wrinkle Releaser saves the day here too.  The odd thing about the releaser is the once you have it, around you definitely start using it more and more often.

ShaveTech Travel Razor

Disclosure- We revived a sample of the below in order to facilitate this review.  All opinions are our own and honest. This post was co-written by my husband, who used the razor, and myself- so that it read in complete sentences.  I love you, sweetie.  😛

Shaving is something that is necessary for most men. I know personally I would feel like a grizzly bear when I go a day without shaving. Also the scratchy face makes for not so comfortable hugs for others. Because of this, a nice shave is a great way to make a good first impression or just keep up a professional  appearance. A great little shaver for all us shaving men out there is the ShaveTech, with is a clever spin on a necessity (and nice to keep in an office drawer for a “spruce up” before a big meeting).

It is not only a kick butt little shaver, but the ShaveTech is also charged via USB. (This means that a desktop or laptop will charge this small pocket sized shaver.)  Most cell phone chargers also have a USB port on them as well, and can be used to charge the shavers if you prefer. This is the perfect gift for any man. This could either be packed in with the laptop for work related travel or brought to work for shaving emergencies. If brought to work, there are lots of chances to use it- forgot to shave that morning?  Late in the day meeting with higher ups? Or just to freshen up (we all have “those days”, don’t we).  If you have it at work, the more often you’ll find yourself grabbing it.

The Day He Was Born – My #PromiseToBaby #Partner

I never expected to (honestly, or wanted to) get pregnant.  It was not on my “list of things to do”.  I had other thoughts, but clearly God knew better then I did.  I’ve made many, many mistakes in my life (which certain people enjoy pointing out just a little too much, but what can you do, ay?) but of all of them, getting pregnant with my son was the best one I ever made.  He was unexpected, and came at a time that was less then ideal, but in reality and in the grand scheme of things- he came at the perfect time and entirely perfectly.  Shows what I know about anything.  Exactly nothing.

While some people think that review and lifestyle blogs try to make out the writer/blogger’s lives to be perfect and without flaw, most bloggers just keep personal details to themselves, as they are not online diaries.  We are far from perfect people- but most of us do the best that we can every day- win, lose, or draw.  Some days are better then others, just like everyone else.  I’d like to tell you about the best day of my life.

newThe day my son was born was after a long labor.  I will spare you those details.  I ended up having a C-Section, since he was already being the stubborn little boy that I have come to know and love, and refusing to come out when he needed to.  After some trial and effort, we got the anesthetics in and we were ready to go.  A sheet was placed up at roughly chest level- I was not able to see the moment my son came into the world.  I was, however, able to hear his first cry- and in that moment, I knew that everything I thought I knew in the world, everything I was sure of, or that made me “me”- was wrong.  Was over.  That was he was my world.  And then I saw his face.

The Witch of Belladonna Bay by Suzanne Palmieri

I thoroughly enjoyed this book- a great summer read.  A unique story with a bunch of fun characters you could both enjoy and actually like, this made a fantastic combination for that beach book or something to read on the plane.  It had an interesting storyline that was easily followed, and likability is a big deal for me. It had everything you would want in a summer read- Murder, mystery, magic, family drama and intrigue.   The Southern setting was so well written I felt as if I could have been there as well, sipping on sweet tea and feeling the breezes that swayed the trees.  The story was sweet, charming, and had layers that went back generations and needed to be wrapped up by our heroine, BitsyWyn, and her niece Byrd.

My Last Kiss by Bethany Neal

If you are looking for a quick summer read, let me suggest “My Last Kiss” by Bethany Neal.  This is a one-sitting kind of read, perfect for those vacation days by the pool or lounging on the beach.  I read it on a series of train rides while traveling throughout Norway, and it was great because it was easy to pick up and put down without losing momentum or getting aggravated about “what was next”.  Fun, easy reading with no heavy brain work required, this is exactly what the doctor ordered.

A young girl dies, but is not able to move on.  Only her boyfriend, who she was on the fritz with when she passed away, can see her.  She is flooded with memories, sometimes literally, that carry her away.  She can see everything and everyone, but they can’t see or hear her. She can’t remember what or who exactly caused her death, but she and her friends are going to try to figure it out.

After I Do- Relatable Book About Marriage

We all know that marriage is a marathon, not a sprint.  It has it’s good days, and it’s bad days.  What do you do when your marriage hits one of those spots, that will either end in divorce or madness?  This is the decision the characters in the book “After I Do” face- what now?  I think those of us who have been married a while all know the feeling and have been there.  Do I stay or do I go?  How will we ever get over this?  And do I really want to with this person.  Marriage is hard.  People often forget that.  Choosing to fight is not always the best decision, but it is usually the harder one.  What would you do- fight harder?  Or let it go when you feel you have nothing left to give?  This couple chooses to go to the mat in an odd way- one full year of absolutely no communication.  What happens at the end, and they journey they both walk during that year, is pretty intense.  Lots of soul searching, and the little things that you love, hate, and might not even think about come to the surface and make them think about what they really want to do with their marriage.

The book is touching, sometimes tearful and gut wrenching, and makes you think about what matters to you and how far you would go.

The app The First Step is an eBook which also sports a few extras.  In general there are 3 parts of the eBook 1) the book itself 2) the video and 3) the games.

1) The eBook itself is about a silly little Komaneko who is trying to make a movie using stop-motion animation.  The story is geared toward preschoolers and is great fun to either read out loud or have it read to you.  Kids can also poke pictures or words to have them read back to them to help expand vocabularies.
