Sunhats, perfect for the summer!

It’s summer- so you know what that means!  More time outside, and more time in the sun.  I am the sunblock queen- even in the winter- and I do always wear a hat outside.  I was just sent this Scala Ribbon Sun Hat to review.  It’s cute- the white color is easy breezy to pair with, and they have some other colors that are really fun!  (Don’t you love the teal one?  LOL)  White and black are versatile, though. It’s comfortable, it breathes, and it shades my head, face, and neck.  It also has a UV protection of 50!  I have worn it to the beach, BBQ, and to a 4th of July picnic so far.  You can’t wear a ponytail, not a high one, anyway, with it- so it’s not for gardening, more for hanging out and looking pretty while keeping yourself cool and protected from the sun.

You can get one of your own in several color options here!
Happy browsing!

Win Super Soakers!

Super Soaker is releasing a new line of powered soakers. Thunderstom!  Have you ever had a battery powered super soaker?  Not I!  What makes these special is not only are they battery powered, but they also have fast change water clips. These guns are based one real weapons, from M-4’s to antiaircraft missiles. The big difference is, there is no way to mistake one of these for a real weapon. They are over sized, brightly colored and are definitely not made of metal. I know some of you might not like weapons or violence, and neither do I-  but this is not violent- it’s just water.  The action may represent violence- but if you give your kids good values, I think all will be well.  Water guns are fun in the summer, if your little ones go out to play with kids in the neighborhood, these will be a hit! Little Man and Kamikaze had a blast with these, the only bad thing was I let the hubs take the pictures- BAD IDEA!  LOL  They had so much fun- I got them later with the hose, too- just to make it REALLY interesting  🙂

Ready for the best part? There is a current promotion through Hasbro where you can get 2 soakers and 2 clips for less than $30 shipped.  NICE, right?

OK, so if you are crazy enough to let that promotion pass you by- or you perhaps want more then 2 (big family?  Want extras for when friends visit?)

Win Tribal Energy Cardio (workout and weightloss)

Tribal Energy Cardio– this video was so much fun to do!  One you can look forward to doing.  I’ve been tweeting about this one- I really liked it!  OK, not the most professional camerawork or sound- it was rocky at times, and had an echo-y sound once in a while- but you won’t notice much.  And like I said- it was fun to do.  Instructor Suzanne Forbes-Vierling was sunny, energetic, (while not being obnoxious) and broke everything down into slow motion for us for quite a few counts- great for non-dancers and beginners to working out (or those re-starting).

Workout One: (11 mins long) This is an add-on style workout, where you learn each step andbuild them together to create a complete dance routine. You will learn these steps at half time first, then do them at full speed.  Then- you add them together!  (see- great for “regular people”!)

Workout Two: (20 mins long) Another add-on style dance workout. Same basic ideas as above!

Workout Three: (7 mins long) This moves faster, ans is also more challenging You use the routines from workouts 1 and 2 here as well.

Grand Finale: (6 mins long) This is for when you have “mastered” the above three- because you do them all here, all together, with no cues from Suzanne.

Fun, and different, right?
Here is some more basic info on the video-
“Suzanne Forbes-Vierling presents adapted Western African dance movements that are achievable for the beginner and invigorating for all levels. Experience a total body workout while having fun and reconnecting with vital physical energy and an exuberance of spirit. Your core will be totally engaged. The live drumming rhythms are exhilarating and are sure to get the whole of your body moving.
Each workout is broken down so that learning is easy and you can grow at your own pace. Soon, you will be moving to the rhythms effortlessly. It’s so much fun you forget that it’s an intense cardio workout.
Go ahead, get your groove on, get fit and feel good while you rock the beat!”
The video can be bought on the website, and you can also win it here!

Win Roary the Racing Car DVD

This is such an adorable DVD- and has become my son’s #1 favorite.  I didn’t have any idea what this was until I saw this DVD, but it is really cute, and they have a fun (and inexpensive) line of toys as well.  Roary is a fun and friendly racecar who zooms about, of course, but the focus here is on friendship and helping others.  My son loves, loves, loves this DVD- and I am bummed because we don’t get this show on TV here, but we download it via the internet now.  YAY for technology!

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
Get revved up for the red hot preschool star, Roary the Racing Car™, speeding
onto his very first DVD, Digital Download and On Demand release June 7, 2011

the premiere DVD has a treat for their fans featuring episodes never-before-seen on
TV! This red hot engine has performed notably well on Sprout on Demand, on average
ranking in the network’s top 10 programs requested. Roary has been cross promoted
on 2MM preschool DVDs, and all-new Roary toys are now available exclusively at
Toys “R” Us!

SYNOPSIS
Start your engines for fun and excitement with Roary the Racing Car and his racetrack
buddies, Tin Top, Zizzy, Dragga and mischievous Maxi, as they zoom into exciting high-
speed adventures. The racetrack becomes a pit stop of great times as everyone goes
the extra mile for Marsha’s birthday party, Big Chris becomes a babysitter and Rusty
is on a roll…without wheels! Put your pedal to the metal and buckle up for big-time fun
from START to FINISH!

Episodes include:
• “Stars and Cars” – Big Chris has been invited to appear on a TV karaoke show. The
cars are worried that the success will go to his head and he’ll leave Silver Hatch
forever.
• “Rusty Takes a Trip” – Rusty is fed up with sitting in one place. Roary and the other
cars plan a special surprise for him, but Rusty soon decides he prefers life without
wheels!
• “Big Chris Babysits” – Big Chris has been left in charge of the track and keeping an
eye on Roary and Zizzy. But is Big Chris the one that needs looking after?
• “Roary Gets it Wrong” – Farmer Green has given Roary lots of packages to deliver
to everybody around the track. How will Roary remember which package belongs to
who?
• “Computer Calamity” – Mr. Carburettor has decided that Silver Hatch needs to
move with the times and do everything with computers. But Big Chris is a traditional
mechanic, so what happens when the two disagree?
• “Big Chris Forgets” – It’s Marsha’s birthday, and Big Chris is in charge of organizing
a surprise for her. Why does everybody keep reminding him what he needs to do?
He wouldn’t forget anything… would he?!

Win Dinosaur Train Educational Toys Prize Pack!

Mini Projector

My Little Man just loves Dinosaur Train!  And Uncle Milton makes some really cute, science and discovery based toys that are both super fun and will teach your kids!  (Shhh!  Don’t tell them!)
My sweet boy had so much fun with these toys- I have to tell you, the Hatchers! and the Mini-Dino-Projector (flashlight) were his total favs, but don’t count out the Dino Poop or the Dino Tract Discovery Pack!

The Hatchers! were super fun, and a cute twist on those little sponges that you put in water in capsule form- you know, they grow into little shapes.
This was so much better!  Not only was it a fun friend from the show Dinosaur Train, but it really did come out of the egg.  Tiny was really well done, and started popping out of her shell after just a few hours.  Then it kept breaking off, until she was all out.  She grew bigger and bigger in the water, and grows to 4 times the “dry” size.  Once out of the water, she started to shrink.  When totally dry, she became smaller then the palm of your hand.
The Dino Track Discovery Pack is adorable- whose tracks are these?  Buddys, Tiny’s, or Tank’s?  Learn about the dinosaurs that made the tracks as you go along and try to figure out who made them.  There is a surprise at the end, as well!

Let your kids play with poop!  LOL  I’m just kidding- it’s not real poop!  It’s pretend Dino Poop– and even though that sounds really gross, it’s also fun and funny.  Its just dough- but you can learn what the dinosaur had for lunch- is it a carnivore, omnivore, or herbivore?  (and look!  you can also expand your child’s vocabulary!)
The Mini Dino Projector was one of Little Man’s favorites, and he has so much fun with it. It has 6 interchangeable disks,  that show different dino scenes.

Have fun with Buddy and Tiny as you project them on you wall with the Mini Dino Projector! Project T. rex and Pteranodon footprints on your floor.
Even surprise your friends and family with the big dinosaur image. And use the train image to take a ride on the Dinosaur Train!
Little likes to “scare” mommy with the dinosaur images- they creep up on me and bite me, its oh-so-scary, and makes Thor and Cooper ride the Dinosaur Train shadows with the dinosaurs.  My kid, what can I say…..
You can buy any of the above mentioned toys here for your child!

So- Here is Prize Pack #1 for you!

Win Thor!

THE BIRTHDAY BASH BEGINS!!!
By Odin’s beard, there is a new Thor toy line.  Awesome!  I mean “By the mead of Loki”!
I can keep going,  but I really shouldn’t, lol.  (What can I say, I’m a big dork!)  So there is a new line of Thor toys coming out, actually, round 2 of the Thor toy line for the newly released movie- by the name of Thor, of course!
The characters who are recreated in five inch form are: Mighty Avenger Battle Hammer Thor, The Mighty Avenger Sword Spike Thor, The Mighty Avenger Secret Strike Loki, Invasion Frost Giant, Harpoon Blade Fandral, Blade Battle Marvel’s Hogun, Ram Smash Volstagg, Fire Blast Marvel’s Destroyer, and Hammer Smash Thor.
We had the pleasure of giving The Mighty Avenger Sword Spike Thor a try.  Sword Spike Thor comes with not only Thor’s hammer, of course, but also the sword spike weapon.  The sword spike is a huge sword with a blue spike in the middle that you can take out and use as a spike weapon.  That’s right a total of three different weapons for Thor to kick the junk out of the Frost Giant.  Now on the surface, Thor is just a super hero with a hammer.  But if you look a little bit deeper, there is a very rich Norse mythology which is the tip of the iceberg to a Nordic culture in general.  Sure, your little guy may like Thor now but this could lead to an interest in foreign cultures and mythology, and reading.  Comics and action heros, sure!  But you know why I like Thor, right?  Because I am a GIANT history geek, and am thrilled with anything that might make my son love it and get interested in it as well.

Cars 2

Hey all- Sorry- I forgot to hit the “post” button- this was sitting in my box, LOL!

We just saw the Cars 2 screening, from Disney.  While I loved the movie, and liked it more, in fact, then Cars (the original)- I found it a bit violent for the kids.  It was like “James Bond” meets cartoon kid’s movie.  The problem being- while it was more entertaining for the adult in me- the mommy in me was less then then thrilled with the violent aspects.  Car torture?  Killing Cars?  LOTS of explosions, ganging up on cars to beat them up or worse, electrocuting cars, blowing them up- this was aimed at small kids, right?  NOT thrilled.  A lot of people think there should have been more Lightning McQueen.  I don’t.  I liked the Mater story line- Lightning had his movie already.  I just thought that it was a bit much for the young kids.  You know- the ones who the movie is aimed at.  No thank you.  I will let Little watch the old Cars movie any time- but I won’t let him watch this one again.  If we had a second car, I would have taken him home during this one.  I was really quite annoyed that killing and torture was deemed to be a G movie.  The cars in the movie are supposed to be living things- very much like people, with thoughts, feelings, etc.  Not hunks of metal like what we drive around in.  So think of it this way- would you want your kids to see a movie where PEOPLE were tortured and killed, chased down, electrocuted?  Not me.  The cars are supposed to be representative of people- the cars are the society.  So to show all that to children is very uncouth in my book.  Thanks anyway.
My son loves the toys, he loves the play sets, he loves all things to do with Cars- and now Cars 2.  But no way in the world will I let him see that movie again, and that will show me to trust a movie rating.  I will make sure I see all movies before he does, from now on.  Good grief!
He can certainly play with the toys, he loves them!  And again- Cars 1 was a great, cute movie about redemption and treating others well, not being mean, showing respect, helping out, etc.  I would think before going to see this one.  Sorry ya’ll.

Disclosure- we got to see this movie for free in order to review it.  These are my opinions, yours may differ.

Night Night Book

 Just go to sleep!
OK we all know that doesn’t work…Be nice if it did though, ay?
The Night Night Book is a new book written by Marianne Richmond about going to bed.  It is a rhythmic, soothing read which could help get your little ones to change from bouncing around the room to snuggling into bed and getting ready for the light, fluffy clouds of sleep.  What I enjoyed about this book is the rhyming scheme.  Most of these books get to a point where the rhyming doesn’t really work out too well, and you have to mispronounce or make up nonsense words, a la Dr. Seuss.  Just because you are a doctor doesn’t mean you can make a word to rhyme with xylophone.  😛
This book is well illustrated and is easy to read and of course memorize- as your child will most definitely want to hear it at least a few times.
The author not only writes children books, but books for all ages and milestones in life.  And even some little ‘books’ for our life events, greeting cards. 🙂  Even some gifts to give with the greeting cards, jewelery
Happy reading, and sweet dreams!
