5 Ways to Update Your Living Room on a Budget

You’ve come to the point where your living room is simply boring. You’ve done all you can to make it a
comfortable place for your family to get together, but it still isn’t giving you the sense of excitement you’re
looking for, and your budget for making changes is severely limited. It’s a common problem, as the kitchen
and bathroom tend to receive the bulk of the renovation dollars while upgrades to the living room tend to
end with the couch and the television. Well, not to worry. There are plenty of ways you can spice up the
space without breaking the bank. Here’s a look at five ways you can update your living room while sticking
to your budget.

Rearrange the furniture. This first idea is fantastic, because it’s free. Before you consider buying a bunch
of costly additions, think about ways you can reinvigorate the space by moving things around. Most living
rooms are arranged around the television. While that’s a great choice for movie night, it’s not the most
inspiring of design ideas. Try focusing the room in other directions. Put the attention on your fantastic
views by arranging the seating to take maximum advantage of the scenery and natural light. Or move the
couch around your fireplace to stave off the chill of winter and give the space a more romantic appeal.

Consider ghost frames. It’s a simple idea. Head out to the closest discount framing store, yard sale or flea
market, and buy up several inexpensive frames. Look for frames with depth and texture. Then you can hang
them on a wall, without photos, to add architectural interest to an otherwise [Read more…]

The Best Places to Propose in Paris

Paris is considered by many to be the most romantic city on the planet. Every year couples flock to “The City of Light” to soak up all the romance that Paris has to offer. Due to its legendary reputation as a city for lovers, many guys decide to surprise their girlfriends with marriage proposals on a trip to Paris. It is certainly a wonderful city to pop the question with a vibrant culture of love surrounding you. The problem with Paris is not that it lacks amazing spots to propose, it’s that there are so many! You’ve prepared for the big moment, you’ve found amazing, luxury accommodation, booked cheap flights to Paris, planned the night or day to do it, but imagine if you then got stuck on the best place to do it! That’s why I’ve put together a guide to the three best spots to propose in Paris. Check out the suggestions below when planning to ask the big question:

Pont des Arts

There are many magical bridges with spectacular views in Paris, but none of them offers as much charm and romance as the fantastic Pont des Arts. It is a wooden bridge next to the Louvre only used by pedestrians, so it is quiet enough to work for a proposal setting. This bridge offers spectacular views of the Parisian skyline, including the Eiffel Tower.

DIY Beauty Tips for Busy Moms

Have you ever had a moment while looking through a photo album or scrapbook where you found yourself
looking at a picture and asking, “Where have you been?” and the person that you’re talking to is you? It
seems like light years ago since you had time to play the adult version of “dress up” while getting ready for
a date or party, complete with a full face of make-up. And while you’re certainly glad to be secure enough
in yourself to not feel like you need cosmetics before being suitable for public viewing, it’s still nice to use
them to do just what they were created for: enhance some of your best features.

But now that you’re a mom, you just don’t have the same kind of time that you used to and so you’re not
sure how you can cut a 30-minute make-up face down to five or 10 minutes without it looking like your
child painted your face while you were catching a quick cat nap.

Here’s your lucky day.

Get a foundation stick. If you don’t have time to do anything else, at least make sure that your skin looks
smooth and even. A great way to do that is by purchasing some foundation that comes in a convenient
stick. Simply draw a line across your forehead, cheeks and chin and disperse it throughout the rest of your
face until it’s blended. Being that you’re a mom, it’s pretty much wishful thinking that it won’t smear or
rub off on either your child or you, so make sure to get one that lasts. If you’re on a budget, Revlon has
a Colorstay brand that won’t smudge for at least 12 hours. If you’ve been up all night with a sick child,
concealer sticks are a quick tool to make you look instantly bright-eyed. Apply it under the eyes only
after you’ve placed a couple of cucumber slices under them for about 10 minutes in the morning. That’s an
inexpensive way to soothe any puffiness that may have occurred.

Blush it up. You’re probably thinking that you already look fluster from all of the errands that you find
yourself running throughout the day and so blush isn’t necessary. On almost any face, blush can brighten
up a face in a matter of moments, transitioning a woman from looking flustered to looking radiant. Based
on your personal preference, blushes come [Read more…]
