Help the Men in Your Life Look Their Best for $6 or Less

The holiday season can mean a busy social calendar for you and your family, with plenty of family photo opps. Luckily, there are simple ways you can help the men in your life look and smell their best, without breaking the bank.
The following men’s products are available at most drug stores for under $6:

Saying Goodbye….

To my dog. Who I like better then just about anyone on the planet. He’s been sick a while, and the cancer is spreading.

Saying goodbye to my contestant friend, someone who is always there for me, who always listens, never talks back, and eats whatever I put in from of him. Who never says he hates me, or slams doors, and who sits when I tell him to. Who wipes his paws and cleans his plate, and is always good for a hug and a cuddle.

To my son’s best friend.

To our hero, who won an award for saving my little’s life when he was just a baby- [Read more…]

Guest Post from @CloserToLucy- Boots! Get them here!

I’m still working on changing my winter loathing attitude; I
must confess it isn’t going so well.
I do find much reprieve in the Christmas season and the
spirit in which it invokes. I also turn to skinny jeans, chunky sweaters, and
very chic boots.
When looking for a new pair for myself I came across Bennetts Boots, they are a specialty
boot boutique that offers a solution for women with larger calves. I immediately
thought of my big sister, who is a lean muscle machine…she is as beautiful as
beautiful gets. She dresses to the nine and loves boots probably more than I
do.
The problem is that because of her muscular build knee high
boots or any over the calf boot is very uncomfortable for her. Having been on
the bodacious end of the zipper I can truly empathize with this type of
wardrobe quandary …it just plain ol’ stink.
Being stylish shouldn’t be uncomfortable and a good fit
shouldn’t look like it was made for your great grandmother; Bennetts Boots gets that. With precise measurement options and a slew of spirited
fashions the most robust of women can find a bit of leather and sass.
I am a little weird (this you knew) about my measurements.
They are more like really bad guesstimates, so when it comes to boots I am afraid
to shop without actually trying them on. Because my guesses lead to more
questions than I have answers I simply sent an email to the people of Bennetts Boots, who talked me through
the entire process…was easy pleasy.

I didn’t go with a boot but instead went with these chocolate
beyond the boot peek-a-boo anklet style poppy. Poppy are exquisitely hand
pierced, full leather upper, shoe boots. With a cute as pie peep toe to show
off those pedicured tootsies, a seven centimeter heel to give the best look for
your gorgeous legs, and all the comfort [Read more…]

Couponing- How to- and why to- Stockpile

The following is a guest post by Outside the Box Mom:

Stockpiling: How to do it the right way

If you only buy when the prices are at their lowest, you will always save the most money. Add a coupon, and you are really winning.

Get started

Make a list of what you buy most often.
Keep in mind items that can be stored for several weeks or months.
Consider where you have room to store these items.

Create a plan

Check the sales fliers for items on sale and use coupons.
Make room in your budget to stock up.
Plan meals around items you have on hand.

Build it up

Buy what’s on sale, marked down, and has a coupon.
Refer to your price book to know the best prices.
Buy enough to last 12 weeks.

Keep it fresh

Write the expiration dates on packages where you can see them.
Store the oldest items in the back and the newest items in front.
Mark it on your grocery list when you’re getting low / before you run out.

Get organized

Keep like items together (baking, canned, sauces, snacks).
Make sure you can view the product’s label and expiration date.
Stock efficiently and feel free to take it out of the pre-packaged [Read more…]

Eat like a local. Wherever you are, eat what the locals are good at or famous for, and eat where those locals like to eat it. Do not rely on your concierge for dining tips. He’s in the business of making tourists happy. You want the places that make locals happy. Seek out places crowded with locals. Avoid places where others of your kind are present.
Show appreciation. People everywhere like it when you are appreciative of their food. I cannot stress enough how important your initial reactions [Read more…]

Decorating Your Home to Minimize the Time You Spend Cleaning

Home décor is not just a way to fill your space; it is a method of making your house into a home by
instilling the aesthetic you prefer. But every piece you add to the rooms in your house, from furnishings
and electronics to accessories like photos, lamps, pillows, and rugs, is one more item you have to clean
(or clean around). However, you don’t want your home to look like a monastery just so you can cut back
on housekeeping. So here are a few ways to decorate your space in order to make it both beautiful and
easy to clean.

1. Put furniture on sliders. You may not need to clean under and around furniture every time
you pull out the vacuum or mop, but you should do it once in a while, if for no other reason
than preserving your health. And if your furnishings are too bulky and heavy to move easily,
you’re probably not going to exert the effort very often. So think about putting them on sliders
or wheels (depending on the surface they’re on). This will make even large pieces easy to
maneuver for cleaning purposes and keep your hard flooring surfaces from becoming damaged
during cleaning.

2. Avoid unnecessary knick-knacks. The more stuff you have, the more time it will take you
to clean; that’s just common sense. Things in your home will not only need to be cleaned
themselves, but you’ll also have to clean around them. So if you find that the time needed to
clean your space keeps getting longer, perhaps you should think about ways to minimize the
clutter.

3. Keep collectibles enclosed. You may [Read more…]
