Win AllerEase Pillow and Mattress Protector

As a frequent traveler (and person who often has difficulty sleeping) I am always interested in finding better ways to get a good night’s sleep.  Sleep often eludes me, and oddly, I tend to sleep better when I am NOT at home.  Maybe that’s not so odd- my husband is the world’s loudest snore-er.  It’s horrible.  When he travels with my son and I, we have more then once had people pounding on doors to yell at us, he was so loud.  My son and I have moved to separate rooms, he has a sleep machine that just seems to add to the noise…it’s like sleeping with a den of bears, LOL.  When I sleep in a hotel, it’s really, really quiet.

However, have you ever noticed that when staying in a hotel, symptoms like congestion and dry/itchy eyes can materialize in your sleep? Plush bedding is a haven for dust mites, which can trigger allergy symptoms and dust reactions. Protective bedding creates a barrier to prevent this. It’s a great, natural way to combat allergy symptoms that can arise on the road (as well as at home). You might not be able to bring a mattress protector but sneak a pillow protector in your travel bag and you’re all set.

pic 12

Flor is hosting their first ever creative competition from 5:00pm to 8:00pm.  It is called the FLOR Design Challenge.  The competition is taking place at their store which is in New York (142 Wooster St New York, NY)  FLOR are known as the Eco friendly design-inspired carpet tiles.  FLOR makes everyone a designer.  Mixing and matching floor tiles, putting them in different patterns, etc-  the options are endless and so is the fun.  To share this, FLOR came up with the competition.  Each guest will be able to assemble a small-scale version of a FLOR rug using 30 sample-sized carpet tiles. For the competition, FLOR will have more than 400 sample tiles available for consumers to work with and design their own unique entry. The finalists will win an 8 x 10 version of their rug design (retail value $900). From July 6 through July 15, the 11 finalists’ rugs will be posted on www.FLOR.com/designchallenge where anyone is invited to log on and vote for their favorite design. The top vote-getter will see their rug in a future FLOR line. Home décor – Tastes and Space

pic5

picture via castleshomedecor.com

The home is the most important place for a human being. Most people spend the most amount of their time in their homes. In addition, we have an emotional attachment to our homes. For married couples, a home provides a safe environment for their children. The home should be kept as beautiful as possible.

Home décor has existed since human beings started living in one place. Even as they lived in caves, they painted their walls or made writings on them in an effort to make them more beautiful.

The choice of home décor is dependent on a number of factors.

  1. The number of options available. A home owner in the West coast could have access to a different range of products than one in the East coast.
  2. The expenditure of the homeowner. Wealthy people can buy more expensive items than families with a medium income.
  3. The taste of the person. People have different tastes. Women and men also have different home décor needs.

The essence of home décor is that decorating the house is supposed to make it more beautiful. The process should not add to the clutter of the house. Consequently, there should be a deliberate attempt to use as minimal furnishings as possible.

Getting Your Big Kid Ready For Christmas

Disclosure- we received the below in order to facilitate this review.  All opinions are our own and honest.

As the children were nestled all snug in their bed….you noticed their bedding was getting a little shoddy looking.  Or maybe your little one’s Pooh Bear bedspread no longer fits the bill.  Either way, with the holidays upon us, and company coming over you want to replace it sooner rather then later. I was in the same boat as well (I have a tough time admitting that my son is growing up, what can I say), and decided it might be time to pick up something a little more his speed.

spongebob bedding

He loves his new SpongeBob SquarePants Twin Comforter and Sheet Set, it fits his room (and his age) perfectly.  He really likes the colors, and of course, SpongeBob is a hit.  The sheet set is $21.99 sheet set and $32.99 for the comforter, and is available at Kmart and Kmart.com.

Post Thanksgiving Clean Up with CVS

Disclosure: I’m proud to partner with CVS/pharmacy for the Gold Emblem and Total Home Prep for Holiday Entertaining campaign. I am being sponsored to help lead this campaign, but all opinions expressed are my  own, and all product claims or program details shared should be verified at CVS.com or with the appropriate  manufacturers.

Now that Thanksgiving is behind us and leftovers are upon us, there is only one thing to do.  No, not camp out in from of an electronics store and chatter your teeth for hours.  Clean up, of course.  After a big meal with lots of special dishes, all those dishes need to be served in…dishes of course.  Those dishes need to be scrubbed, soaked, and thoroughly washed.

CVS is here to help with the Total Home line of products.  These products feature high performing household cleaners, paper goods, light bulbs and more for up to 20% less than national brands.

pic9These are also high quality products as well.  The main difference most times is the packaging as far as we can tell, and the fact that it is not a “big name” brand, but the store’s own.  From big clean up jobs like Thanksgiving dinner clean up to small jobs like a dirty light switch, all your supplies can be found at CVS.  Glass cleaner, instant stain remover, and facial tissues are just a few of the Total Home products.  They all make your life a little easier by being available at reasonable prices and at a local CVS are also nice features.  (You know you are headed in for your prescriptions anyway- why stop at more then one place?)

Dining Room Decorating Tips for Entertaining

fireplace

If your family is like most others, your actual dining room table rarely gets used. Sure, it’s the place where you put mail, dog leashes, and other odds-and-ends that don’t have a home, but you probably use this space primarily for entertaining. Whether you are planning dinner parties for the holidays or simply have a sitter for the night and want to invite over a few other couples for an evening of good food, wine, and conversation, you may be looking at that lonely dining room and feeling barely inspired. Since you don’t use the space, you haven’t put much effort into decorating either. Below are a few quick ways to turn this room into one worthy of entertaining.

Smokeless Fireplaces

Your first instinct may be to light some candles. After all, nothing creates ambiance quite like a dancing flame. This is great until you get halfway through dinner and one side of your four-tier candle caves in, permitting a flow of wax to infiltrate your table. Or, it’s always fun when someone can’t stop sneezing because of the fragrance. Do yourself a favor and opt for a smokeless fireplace instead. You could buy a tabletop one to use as a centerpiece or to set on a side table or you could get a wall-mounted one. You can find a smokeless fireplace at Ethanol Fireplace Pros.

Downy Wrinkle Releaser- Home and On the Go

Disclosure- we received the below in order to facilitate this review.  All opinions are our own and honest.  For more, see “I Disclose”.
downyDuring the summer (or any season really) life seems to speed up.  I often think it should be otherwise, it rarely works out that way. As such, your activities had to have priorities- whats more important? Catching on on some summer reading or ironing?  Personally I would say reading but ironing still needs to be done.  To the rescue Downy!

Downy have recently released a new spray called Downy Wrinkle Releaser.  This simple to use fabric fresher makes your day move a lot quicker as well as a day saver.  The way this works is, first hang up your garment, then spray it with the Release then tug to pull out the wrinkles.  That is all there is to it.  Simple and quick so not only would this be a time saver with ironing but also a savior when you find out that blouse that you planned on wearing to work today fell off the hanger and has been wrinkled.  The Wrinkle Releaser saves the day here too.  The odd thing about the releaser is the once you have it, around you definitely start using it more and more often.

Air Wick Familiar Favorites

babymagic

I participated in an Influencer Activation on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Air Wick. I received product samples to facilitate my review and a promotional item to thank me for participating.

We humans are an odd bunch. Our memories can be triggered by just about anything from an image of a person, to a food, or even a familiar smell. Our past is an open book of memories just waiting for the right trigger to bring us back to a previous page or ‘better time’.  Smells do this best, baking cookies, fresh laundry, baby powder all are known scents that remind us of something or someone special.  Along this line of thought we are looking or rather smelling a few of the new scents from Air Wick’s Familiar Favorites line of products.

The we are giving a try are Cinnabon Classic Cinnamon Roll, Snuggle Fresh Linen, Baby Magic Clean Baby. All of which are great scents and do a wonderful job of bringing a new smell to a room in no time. Of the three everyone in our house has a different favorite. Dad likes Snuggle Fresh Linen because it brings the smell of fresh laundry to the room and is prefect after a big cleanup the house day. With the light scent of fresh vacuum behind it the perfect way to put an end to a long day. Mom likes Baby Fresh because it reminds her of when Little Man was much more little. When he was little more then a crawling cuddly bundle of joy. Little Man likes Cinnabon because it reminds him of breakfast on Christmas morning after ripping through presents. It is a tradition of opening presents and making cinnamon rolls while the little guy opens his gifts.
