My son loves his elf. He looks forward to coming down in the morning and seeing where his elf is, and what he has been up to. I like that he elf watches what he is up to, and reports back to Santa. Nothing better then a straight line to the big man himself.

So much to choose from!

My son named his new elf Tom, and since we like to travel, Tom does as well. Tom has proven to be a hardy fellow, handling suitcases, backpacks, car rides, and even plane travel with relative ease. I suppose when you are used to flying around to and from the North Pole, Pennsylvania and Puerto Rico aren’t that big of a deal.

Tinsel, Tom, and Amy take a trip with us to Great Wolf Lodge. Bob the Reindeer stayed home to guard the house.

Once Tom came to our house, it was time to get him ready for Christmas. Thankfully, we have a Kohl’s nearby, and they have everything an elf could want for the holiday season. Have you seen the new Claus Couture Collection? Perhaps your elf wants to doll up on occasion, not just wear his or her same old red elf outfit day in and day out. There are quite a few outfits to choose from. Perhaps your elf wants a friend, a reindeer to fly back to the North Pole at night with. (The new pet reindeer come with their own charm and cute story book as well.) Maybe your child and elf want a friend in common- an elf friend that can snuggle up at night, that doesn’t need to fly back to the North Pole at all, but stays at home with you. So many options to choose from!

Then there are pajamas for your child (perfect for Christmas and the whole winter season), and flatware, take along cups, games, and more. There is so much to choose from, and all to help you get your “Elf on the Shelf” on.

Some of the “extras” my son chose- a pet reindeer, an outfit for him, and a snuggly Elf on the Shelf he named Amy.

My son has really enjoyed the new items and his new elf. He had a great time choosing new items, new friends, and reading all about them. His favorite thing, however, has been all the adventures they have taken together.

It’s Elf on the Shelf time! Getting his new elf and reindeer out of the boxes and asking mommy to read the books.

As Christmas Eve approaches, he knows his new buddies will soon be going home until next year. (Well, except Amy- she gets to stay and help make “Welcome Back!” cookies when they arrive.) While he will be sad to see them go, he can send them letters and get updates from them throughout the year, and we can’t wait to see them again when they return.

Kohl’s Elf on the Shelf #ScoutElfReturnWeek

For the uninitiated, Elf on the Shelf is the new tradition where a little stuffed elf hides around the house at night to help report to Santa on which list your little one should be on, the naughty or the nice. For more details on the exact lore of the Elf and his various adventures, there is a book and also a new movie which you can purchase with said elf at your local Kohl’s.

In addition to various varieties of the Elves themselves, there are also boy and girl elves. There is also a reindeer available and a whole plethora of different clothes for the entire crew. The clothes range from pajamas, to boots and leather jackets, and even a warm blanket for the reindeer. My son loves having sets of things, so friends for his Elf on the Shelf are great fun for him (especially an animal friend who wears clothes). Of course, the reindeer also comes with a book, so you can read all about them.

Also available are various Elf on the Shelf themed clothing for both boys and girls. Pajamas, socks, shirts, bath robes, and even ornaments for your tree. The other favorite in our house is the huggable plush elf, who is able to hang out all year long and does not have to fly back to the North Pole on Christmas Eve. Elf on the Shelf makes the anticipation for Christmas a bit easier for children to deal with while still giving them that added incentive to behave. Well….. at least throughout the month of December.

Elf On the Shelf is available now at Kohl’s stores nation wide and retail anywhere from $29.99 and includes a book explaining the mythos while most clothing sets are available for $9.99. I’ll be posting shortly with some of our “Elf-capades” as well as a fun giveaway- keep your eyes out!

Head To Kohl’s for Everything You Need This Summer

Summer is fast approaching, and it lately feels like it’s here already. Doesn’t it feel like we skipped spring? It’s about that time that we need to refresh summer wardrobes, grab what you need for that upcoming vacation or roadtrip, and make sure your kid’s sandals fit. What, they don’t? Of course they don’t, they never do!

I don’t like to spend a lot of time going from store to store to get what I need. As a busy working wife and mother, I have a lot of hats I wear on a daily basis, and any way I can trim time I spend doing those “must do” activities is a bonus for me. That’s one of the many reasons I love shopping at Kohl’s- whether you shop in stores or online, it’s a one stop shopping experience that you don’t need to spend tons of time and energy on. Bonus? The prices are great- you can catch amazing deals, get rewarded just for shopping and buying what you need to (with Kohl’s Cash, good for anything in the store) AND they constantly mail out money saving coupons in the weekly mailers, snail mail, and the best ones come via email when you sign up to receive promotions. Really, you should- there is not a reason in the world not to. They only send you deals and updates, Kohl’s is not one of those places that bombard you with useless emails 300 times a week.

While I usually enjoy shopping, shopping for my husband and son can be a less then fun experience, and one I prefer to either do alone or online. My son is OK if he’s with me, but if daddy is also with us, he turns into a whine machine. I don’t know why that is, but the quickness and ease of shopping at Kohl’s and getting what I need to for everyone in the family with no fuss is VERY appreciated by this mommy, let me tell you. Maybe it’s a guy thing- but they just don’t make shopping fun, and it’s great to go in with a list, sizes, and be done with it. Shopping online at 2 am is another great standby. No one annoys me then, and since they are both dudes? They don’t care what I buy them as long as it fits, and for the kiddo maybe has an Angry Bird or two involved, haha.

Family Easter Outfits at Kohl’s

Spring is the perfect time to refresh your wardrobe, and with Easter looming, it’s a great reason to drag even the most resistant men in your life out for at least a small upgrade, true? We recently headed to Kohl’s to see what we could find for both of the men in my life to wear for the holiday this year. The smaller one is usually pretty compliant, it’s the bigger one that can be somewhat of a fighter, lol. They both agreed, however, on getting new pants and nice shirts. We got them things they could wear not only on Easter, but for future events.

Now that I look at it, it seems they are almost matching, though not intentionally- one blue on top and beige on the bottom, the other reversed, ha. My son decided he wanted to go in shorts (can you tell we’ve had it with winter and he’s looking forward to warm weather?) and my husband decided to get new jeans, which he could use. They both picked out their outfits without the other one seeing- my son was with me, and the husband was in the men’s department all by himself- I was amused when I saw how similar their selections were when we met in the boy’s department 😉

Kohl’s for Mother’s Day

Looking for the perfect place to shop for Mom? Or maybe your wife- since some of the kids are too small to shop on their own, dad’s or partners will have to help out a little. One of my favorite stores to shop at has always been Kohl’s- while I will shop anywhere that strikes my fancy, there are only a handful of stores that I consider myself a loyal shopper of, and Kohl’s is one of them. Check out my closet (and those of my husband and son as well) and my housewares if you’d like to verify, haha. I love Kohl’s because they have everything for everyone in your family, as well as housewares, outdoor supplies and furniture, even travel gear.

They also have awesome sales, you can get Kohl’s cash (free money to spend in the store just for making purchases) to use, and shopping is easy both online and in stores as well. Also, as a bonus, my son often gets to choose a stuffed toy at the end of the register if he’s a good boy the whole trip. Now, I always expect good behavior from the kiddo, but with the high quality and adorable toys and books that Kohl’s offers for just 5$ (and the net profits going to organizations that benefit children) I never mind spending it and letting him have one.

I will soon be leaving on a cruise, and I am loving the Kohl’s Collection from Peter Som for Design Nation. The items will be perfect to take with me as I travel and visit several islands. Inspired by St. Barths, the clothing will be right at home (and make me feel so as well).

Peter Som’s clothing is simple and pretty. I love the mix of classic lines and feminine colors for a fun, fresh look. As you can guess, I did end up buying that black and white dress- I regretted not getting it that night, and ordered it online as soon as it was available. Peter Som For Kohl’s And WIN $100

It is finally spring! The chance to bust out my spring and summer wardrobe is here. I have been admiring the 2014 spring line of several designers, plotting my new additions and I have fallen in love with a few items in Kohl’s Spring Collection from Peter Som for Design Nation. I love that each piece was designed with the confident and elegant woman in mind.

Peter Som’s sketches are no nonsense and can be made into a stunning yet simple dress. I love that he mixes classic lines and feminine colors for a fresh look that reminds me of a sunny carefree day.

I have had my eye on this fit and flare dress. It is elegant, classy and modest. I am a sucker for stripes… if you didn’t catch that already, and I love that I could wear sandals or heels with this dress depending upon the occasion. Yes, I totally bought it at the presale. 2 Dresses, 6 Looks

Spring is here, and with it comes the promise of warm weather and getting to (finally) put the horrible winter coats and clunky, awful snow boots away. Like much of the country (and Canada), we have had a terrible winter, exceptionally cold and snowy, and I am ready for pretty colors, light fabrics, and open toed sandals.

Recently, I headed over to Kohl’s for some Spring shopping. I picked out two dresses that I could use for a few different occasions. Kohl’s is a great place to find dresses for women.

Everything here is from Apt 9. I thought this would be a nice, easy to wear outfit for spring, good for going out to dinner, a show, or a night on the town. The coin necklace in silver and gold paired with the larger coin bracelet was fun, and I love the gold metallic flat.
