Sticker Activity BookIf you’ve ever spent much time with a toddler, you know that one of their favorite things is most definitely stickers! My daughter absolutely loves stickers. We go through stages of her using stickers on all of her art projects, as well as some not so “artsy” places, like my kitchen cabinets or tile floors :).

I was lucky enough to be able to try out the new Princess Sticker Activity Book from Peaceable Kingdom.

TV shows and movies have become a necessity in many peoples lives. This is especially true with the addition of a few more screens to everyone’s homes: smart phones and tablets. With more screens comes more demand for television shows and movies.

There have been many improvements in bringing video on demand to a screen near you but one of the most interesting has to be the new Hopper Transfers. This is a new feature from Dish network. Transfers le you move a recording from the hopper at home onto an iPad to watch on the go. This may not seem like anything special but the magic is, you are able to watch the recording [Read more…]

5 Family Road Trip Savings Tips

It’s a tradition for many families to plan a vacation at least once a year. Although flying to some exotic location can come with its own set of perks, the memories that tend to last the longest are when people pack up their car (or SUV, minivan or RV) and set out on a road trip. Of course, in order to make the vacation as stress free as possible, it’s a good idea to have a budget set in place. That way, you can enjoy your trip without worrying about returning home to a lot of (credit card) debt.

If you’re going to take a road trip this year, we have five failsafe tips that will help you to save money. That way you can focus on the true purpose behind a vacation: rest and relaxation with the ones you love.

Have a plan. We’ve all seen movies where people have jumped into cars with no real destination in mind. That might seem like a lot of fun, but it’s not necessarily the most realistic thing (especially financially) to do. It is far smarter to look at an online map or atlas and mark a few places you’d like to see. From there, you can use your GPS system to help you create a route that will get you to those destinations the quickest. That way, you can conserve [Read more…]

My Thoughts:

How Parents Can Help Children When They Struggle Academically

Children that are having a tough time in school often wind up needing a little bit of external assistance when it comes to establishing a sense of motivation. Not every kid loves to head into the classroom, and it can be seriously tough for a child to understand how important scholastic success is. Of course, as parents, it’s not like we can sit our children down and appeal to their logical brains. We don’t always have the option of explaining to our little ones that school is very important when it comes to the future, and instead have to rely on methods that are sometimes a bit more indirect. When you’re trying to help a child that is having a tough time academically, the power struggle is something that you want to avoid at all costs. Children will never learn when they’re upset. If you want to seriously help you child when he or she is having a tough time in school, there are a few good strategies that can help your child find scholastic success and have a great time doing it.

When your child is having a bit of trouble in school, it’s important not to get angry or upset. Of course, many parents feel like they are directly [Read more…]

Happy Valentine’s Day- Chocolate Chip Cake

Need a last minute treat to make for Valentine’s Day? I have just the cake for you! This is so easy to make, quick and not to sweet while nice and chocolaty. My kids and their friends helped make this while they had a play date. It tastes like a soft cake brownie. I don’t frost it because the chocolate chips sweeten it up enough there’s no need. Add a cup a milk with a slice of cake you have a great Valentine’s Day treat for the family!

American Girl: The Care & Keeping of You 2 (Book Review)

DSCF2531

The Care & Keeping of You – The Body Book for Girls was an extremely popular book for American Girl. This book gave tips on basic care and hygiene while helping to build their self esteem. I personally believe that it would be a great book to help with the conversations between mother and daughter. I think that it will be a great book to pull out many years down the line when I reach that point with my girls. 🙂

American Girl is about to release The Care & Keeping of You 2. (The Book for older girls).

This book definitely picks up where the previous book left off. It really focuses on the emotional and the physical changes that girls face from 10 and up. It helps them understand how they fit into the picture. It could also be a great resource [Read more…]
