5 Money Saving Tips for Moms

One news story that caught a lot of people’s attention last year was the one that talked about
how much it costs to raise a child. If you didn’t happen to see it, the total amount from ages 1-17 is
approximately $325,000. That’s definitely a lot of money and so we totally get why you, as a mom,
would be on the constant search for any money saving tips that you can find in order to make your
dollars stretch just as far as possible.

teach kids about moneyIf you’re currently looking for some money saving tips, we have five that are sure to make
your “financial side of life” much easier so that your daily parenting responsibilities can be just as stress-
free as possible.

Eat out less. There are a lot of moms who make it a point to cook dinner every
night, but sometimes breakfast or lunch (especially when you have young kids and you’re out running
errands with them in tow) can be a bit of a toss-up. While you may prefer for them to have a home-
cooked meal, sometimes it’s simply easier to roll through the drive-thru. However, not only is that not
the healthiest option, but if you keep your receipts, it can start to add up. Instead, take a cooler with

DIY Pinboard – Craft and Tutorial

I am always looking for ways to save money and creating DIY projects is one of the ways to save lots of money. I love to recycle and create new things with the items that I keep around my house. For the last couple of weeks I have been trying to create a cute bulletin board to hang lots of sticky notes that are on a wall next to my desk. One day I was looking through my Pinterest account and saw a wine bottle cork bulletin board. I had been saving wine bottles and corks with the thoughts of creating something with them so I was so excited when I saw this adorable DIY project.

New York Toy Fair- Where Fun and Games Begin

Starting tomorrow, the Jacob Javits Center in New York City will be host to the worlds largest gathering of toys and games, organized by the Toy Industry Association. Hundreds of toy manufacturers and game publishers gather to show off their recent and upcoming products to retailers, buyers, and the press. The New York Toy Fair is filled with nearly every toy, game, form of electronic entertainment, and outdoor play thing you can imagine.
With roughly 100,000 products and 7,000 new toy debuts, NY Toy Fair is a wonderland for your inner child. Here are a few toys who made their premiers at the Javits Center in 2012 that were interesting, innovative, and fun for families.

National Geographic Books for Kids

Today we are going to look at a few new National Geographic books which are now available in a book store near you.

animalFirst up is Animal Encyclopedia. This book is big, it is 9 1/2 by 12 inches and over 300 pages long. The encyclopedia is a wonderful reference for everyone in the family. It contains over 2,500 species. Each entry includes the animals habitat, what their diet consists of, their weight and height as well as some fun facts. There are also over 1,000 full color pictures of the critters which are of the National Geographic quality of photos, its almost like being there next to them. The book is broken into sections by animal, there are mammals, birds, invertebrates, reptiles, amphibians and fish. What I find interesting about this book is that it’s the perfect table top book. Kids and adults alike like to flip through it, or pick out their favorite animals and read a quick snippet of information about them, or just flip to a random page and check out the animal. Not only is this a nice table top book, but it would also fit perfectly on that book shelf in your kid’s room, [Read more…]

Awards- Who Wants One?

When was the last time you really got an award you deserved? I don’t mean the kind of award where everyone gets a small trophy for trying their best. These are good for kids, or so some think- but come now, we are adults. I mean an award where there is one and only one, for the best there is. This award is the physical manifestation of your ability to be hands down the best at something. If it has been a while, maybe it is time to re-evaluate a bit and make some changes.

Are you really giving it your all? Is your time spent doing activities to the best of your ability or simply shuffling through your day on a quest to park your bottom on a couch cushion. If [Read more…]
