So, it’s Spring, right? That’s what I hear, that’s what the calendar says, yet….yet it’s 32 degrees outside and I am still wearing boots and a winter coat every day. I think someone has gotten it way wrong. Isn’t Easter next week? Because it snowed last weekend, and I’m pretty sure April is just a few days away….Have you had it with winter, East Coast? Mid West? The dog days of Summer are here, long hot days full of Summer fun in the sun. That is as long as you have protection from the sun. In order to truly be safe from the sun’s rays clothing or even staying is side are best. But how are you supposed to enjoy the sun without being in it? What to do when you are done with being inside and just want to go out and play? With or without the kids. The answer to is easy. Sun Bum sunscreen. Sun Bum specialize is two sun care product types continuous spray, and classic lotion.

Continuous spray comes in an easy open twist top. Once spun to the proper setting with a simple push you are well on your way to sun fun. The spray comes in SPF 15, 30, 50 and 70 so no matter what your preference there is a spray for you from pale and pasty to golden brown. You will find the protection you need. The spray is specially made with anti-aging vitamin E, has broad spectrum UVA and UVB protection, it is waterproof, sweat proof, hypoallergenic, free of oils and gluten free as well as vegan for those of us who follow those guidelines. For the rest of us it is a good sun screen which goes on smooth and easy but still does a great job of protecting your skin. The classic lotion is the same lotion you know and love it is thick and goes on easily with slight consistency differences between the available SPF classes which are SPF 15, 50, 30, and 70.

So you are taking a trip with the kids. Whether you are taking a road trip or hopping on a plane, you will need to keep the kids , safe, occupied, and at least a little bit quiet if you plan on staying sane. Here are some fun new take-alongs for your next trip.

First up comes the packing. If you are like most parents, you become a pack mule, dragging luggage, laptops, and lovies all over creation. Do it as easily as possible with something lightweight and durable, like the Delsey Helium line. In 3 sizes, with 4 wheels that pivot and turn in all directions (which makes the lugging oh so much easier) it is “featherweight” luggage. This is easier on your back, as well as great for packing, since we all know the airlines are fairly evil about the weights of baggage and trying to get every nickel out of you that they can. South Street Seaport for Summer Fun

The South Street Seaport has kicked-off the summer with a variety of kid-friendly activities as a part of their new SEE/CHANGE Summer 2014 series. Throughout the entire summer season, SEE/CHANGE Summer 2014 will feature programming fit for the entire family!

The summer line-up will include:

KidAround!: KidAround! at the South Street Seaport is a FREE family event series every Sunday from 2-4 featuring live music, story-time with your favorite characters, games and more! Special performances include Play Me A Story (June 15), Billy Kelly (June 22) and Tim & the Space Cadets (July 6).

Summer is right around the corner with long hot days and tiring nights. As temperatures rise, the want to cook in a hot kitchen decreases and quickly. Who would want to hang out in a hot kitchen making chicken for an hour when there is an easier way that could actually fit into your schedule? With Summer comes sports and outdoor parties and pools The kids are around more often which is great but also adds another dimension to your day.

Walmart and Coca-Cola have come together to help families out a bit this Summer with their new Effortless Meals. The way the meals work is each meal consists of a main dish, sometimes a side and always a Coca-Cola product. 5 Fun Summer Backyard Activities for Kids

Every time that the summer season rolls around, we as parents find ourselves in a bit of dilemma. Although there are always things like swimming and going to the park that our children can do, we all know that kids tend want to break out of their play routine on a pretty frequent basis; this means that they’re always looking for something new and interesting to do.

So, as you’re gearing up for a few months of fun in the heat, we wanted to provide you with a list of five summer backyard activities that your kids can do; ones that will be sure to keep them happy all summer long.

Help them to make their own tent. Whether you want to “camp out” as a family or let a few of your kids’ friends over for an outdoor slumber party, rather than going to a store to purchase a tent, how about letting them make one of their own? In fact, there are websites that will show you how to make tints, teepees and even playhouses. One of our favorites is Spoonful. Just go to the site and put “DIY hideouts” in the search field.

Create a clothesline theater. There are some of us who remember growing up and putting on a puppet or even our own theater show. You can pass this tradition onto your own children by creating a clothesline theater where they can do the same thing. All you need is a couple of clotheslines, three white sheets (that can be painted or drawn on), some clothespins and a few metal binders.
