Unfortunately all seasons have to come to an end, and with those ends clothing options change as well. From summer to fall, then fall to winter- jacket and layers are necessities in many parts of the country. In mine it is absolutely necessary. Today we will be looking at a new jacket which is water proof and insulated for the perfect fall into winter jacket, the Lunsdale II Quilted Jacket.

The Lunsdale is built with some interesting technology involved, like the AquaDry Membrane mesh lining. This lining will not only keep you dry but also warm in all kinds of nasty weather. Along with the quilted construction of the jacket you will be comfortable and stylish in this jacket. The jacket also sports 9 pockets including 2 zipped hand warming pockets, 2 studded chest pockets, 1 mobile phone pocket, which can also be used as an mp3 player pocket, 1 Velcro credit card pocket for easy access during bitter cold days and 1 zipped inner pocket for those items you want to keep most safe. The storm flap and narrow inner zip guard help keep unwanted drafts out of the Lunsdale, keeping the jacket where you put it and most importantly wrapped around you.

Little Hands On Play

When little hands are not kept busy, they get into trouble. Keep those hands (as well as minds) busy and stimulated, as well as bodies active while you get ready for fall fun.

Get outside and play with the new Mini Golf Set from Alex Toys. Perfect for even quite small kids, this set is easy to set up and play. The set is circus themed, and can be used indoor or outdoors- but for me, I would never recommend playing with sports equipment or balls indoors, seems like an accident waiting to happen- even if they are foam. It comes with only 2 putters/golf clubs, so you might need to share or get two sets if you want to play with everyone at once. The clubs are made for small hands, so they are easy to use and swing, which is great for hand-eye coordination. The set comes with 4 balls, 2 clubs, and 6 different circus themed “”holes”, as well as a carry bag (which can also keep your golf game from losing pieces until the next round).

Cooking with Arla Dofino Cheeses

There are many snack options on the market for kids after school, some of which are quite un-healthy and some of which are quite the opposite. One such option is cheese. In moderation cheese is a delightful change of pace and makes for a quick easy snack for kids and parents alike. Today we will be looking at a few of the cheeses available from Arla Dofino.
Arla Dofino has been making cheese for over 100 years in the heart land of the USA and one of the cheese making capitals of the country- Wisconsin. By using all natural ingredients and hormone free, the environmentally friendly way to make cheese. There are several varieties of cheeses available by Arla Dofino which include Havarti, Gouda, Fontina, Edam and Muenster in a variety of flavors ranging from Creamy, Light, Dill, Caraway, Jalapeno, Smoked, Chipotle, Pesto, Chili Lime, and Cracked Peppercorn there is destined to be a favorite for those with distinguished palettes or just those picky eaters among us.

We had the pleasure of trying a few of the cheeses available and tried the Havarti line, since that what our local stores carried. For those of you like us who aren’t very familiar with Havarti, it is creamy and buttery in flavor and is perfect for crackers and sandwiches as well as cubed as a light snack. We tried the Dill flavor and the regular flavor of the cheeses the Dill was a favorite of the adults and the plain was a favorite of the little guy. He enjoyed the dill but loved the regular. He enjoyed it so much not only was it an after school snack but also a requested addition to the next day’s lunch box which is always a rare event. Aveda Naturally Straight Hair Supplies

Hair can be a bit of a shot in the dark this time of year. With rainy days, followed by cold days, then humid hot days, your hair is at a loss, mostly due to frizz out. Normally reaching out far the stars is a good thing, but with hair not so much. Ideally we want hair that stays where we put it. One such way to do this is with hair straighteners. Hair straighteners take frizzy, curly, or wavy hair and make it straight. This is particularly helpful for people with these kinds of hair but also helps ease the frizz due to weather and other odd occurrences.

Snacking is a make or break part of dieting. It will happen, we all get hungry- and if the healthy snacks are not available it is very easy to fall back to unhealthy habits like candy bars and salty treats. If you are like most Americans, you describe yourself as “busy”. Americans are among the most overworked in developed countries, yet have the least vacation days allotted to them- and even so, many people don’t use all their days. Since the recession, it has gotten worse- with many business forcing one person to do the job of three (not that they got a raise, either) and not having the manpower to do the labor they require- yet they demand it, and the stress on employees is brutal. The recession is over, they claim- so when will they start rectifying that? Hmmm…..

One thing I never understood is why people don’t take their vacation days. I remember my mother asking my father to take days, and he never would- I remember one day in particular. I don’t remember why she wanted him to stay home, or if she even wanted to go anywhere, but I remember she was just devastated that he refused to. He was guilty, I remember him hanging his head. He left anyway, but he was moving slowly- he was torn. My father always had many, many days leftover that he never used, and he always “lost” them after so much “rollover” time. I never understood why he didn’t use days he was allowed to use. Having worked in traditional jobs, non traditional jobs, and everything in between- I promise you- I always used every single day I was given. Why wouldn’t you? Are you going to win a prize for being the most stressed out at work? And as we know, the hardest workers are not always (or even usually) the ones who get the raises or promotions. You just need to have the “brownest nose” for that one, LOL.
