TheFind.com Catalogue App

Every Sunday there is a ritual in our house, as usually kids get up early and wake up daddy- who for some insane reason likes waking up early. Daddy makes breakfast and then gets the newspaper from outside. Now the real fun begins- the toy flyers. Little goes nuts because he gets to see all the new toys and all that jazz. What if this weekly ritual had a new twist?

Instead of waiting for Sunday and the newspaper to be delivered, what if those very same catalogs could be read through (with 100’s more as well) from your tablet or smart phone? Sounds like fun? I think so. Check out TheFind.com.

The Find brings just about every catalog you could imagine to your finger tips through their website, Iphone/Ipad App, Android [Read more…]

Should You Cap Your Kids’ Internet Usage?

The internet is a tool, and just like many tools it has the ability to be abused. The information age has given
people resources to instantly tap into nearly the entirety of human knowledge, receiving news, photos and
videos from around the world. And while in some instances it has made the globe smaller, it also has the
tendency to alienate people. We spend more and more time texting, messaging, and emailing, and old
fashioned human interaction has become less a part of our daily lives. For adults, it’s just another way we
get things done, and it’s up to the individual to decide when enough is enough. But for children, it can be
easily abused. Our kids need internet access. Kids use the internet to do their homework, watch videos and television shows, and stay in touch with friends and family who are otherwise separated by geography. But if they’re not monitored, kids can be exposed to stuff online they should never have to see, and it’s up to us parents to draw the line. We should certainly monitor what they’re doing on the internet, unless you want to come home and find your little girl has accidentally stumbled across some depraved pornographic web portal. But do we also need to monitor the amount of time they’re spending online?

Children’s brains are still developing into their teen years. And when our kids are elementary age or
younger, they are incredibly impressionable. The internet blasts a ton of information our way, and there
may be some correlation between attention deficit disorder and the jam-packed, multi-tasking routine
that is the norm these days. It is important that our kids spend [Read more…]

Stimulate Your Kid’s Mind with CookieCoo Dancing Star

One of the best educational games that you can teach your child on how to use correctly is the CookieCoo Dancing Star. This gaming application is best described as a rhythm game where it teaches your kid how to use their eyes, ears and hands at the same time while following the beat of the music. Teaching your child coordination while at a young age can help them a lot especially during their developmental stage. However, sticking with conventional tools such as bricks and other toys may just bore them silly. What you need is to introduce a bit of music and quirky characters that not only help stimulate their eyes and ears but also stimulate their brain to function easily which is exactly what you can get out of CookieCoo Dancing Star.

Imagine a digital game that is packed with strong visual representations of various kooky characters that kids can’t help but love as well as jolly tunes that they can sing and dance to all rolled into one. Add to this concoction different types of instruments that your kids need to tap in time with the musical note falling on the instrument. The combination of beat, rhythm and profusion of colors, sounds and visual graphics will certainly stimulate your kids’ minds as [Read more…]

SafeSync- Save Your Files! Review and C0NTEST @TrendMicro

Trend Micro are best known for their PC security software. They handle everything from anti virus to Trojan, spy ware, hackers- and everything in between. Now they are also entering into the cloud backup storage market with SafeSync.

SafeSync is a way of backing up your files from a home computer onto the Internet, or cloud. Then once there the files are securely saved for later retrieval. This is most useful for backing up those personal files which you cant not be without. Maybe family photos or work documents, maybe even a backup copy of your website. All of these are very important.

After fatal computer problems, files become either unusable or are simply gone. These horrid events happen to us all, everything has potential to break, even our most expensive and coveted electronics, our computers. Proper backup techniques should always be followed. A full backup every month, while backups of more important documents should be done on an as updated basis. We backup our photos every month, as well as our personal documents. There are currently 3 options available in terms of storage [Read more…]

DS Lite- Great Gift for the Holidays!

Nintendo makes good systems at a good price. The most recent addition to their line up (the 3DS) might not be the best answer for all consumers out there- the very young or those with vision issues. I personally love it, and think it is a very good hand held. But for my kids I would rather have a system they can use no matter what age, to its maximum potential without breaking the bank for the system and games. One of the more recent additons to the Nintendo handheld market to the rescue, the DS lite. The DS lite is smaller then the first iteration of the DS, has better battery life and comes in four colors: red, blue, pink and black.

The system is built like a rock. Ours has taken quite a few tumbles without much more then a scuff mark. Even while being passed back and forth while paused in the middle of a game, the system just keeps on going. This is not an easy feat for any piece of technology!

The DS lite also has access to multi player gaming, both through a local connection and also through the Internet. I like how the Internet gaming doesn’t use any personal information. Instead, you trade DS friend codes or just connect and play with another random player from any corner of the globe. But there is nothing more exciting then playing Mario Kart with four friends in the same general area. So much fun at any age, really. Recently on a train ride, a friend and I [Read more…]

5 Ways You Can Save Money Using the Internet

The advent of the internet has made our lives easier in several important ways. Social networking
and instant messaging have created an interconnected global landscape, while instantaneous search
engines have expanded our access to information and knowledge. Internet service providers have long
recognized how essential online access has become and rising internet bills have become one more
financial burden to overcome. Fortunately, there are many simple ways that you can save money using
the internet, and by taking advantage of the following five techniques the cost of surfing the web can be
cut in half.

1.) Consolidate Your Entertainment – Today’s internet is more powerful than ever before and
searching for amusing YouTube videos is the tip of the iceberg when it comes to online
entertainment options. If you have children, for example, and find yourself renting movies
every week for family night, rental costs, late fees and trips to the video store can quickly add
up. Online services like Netflix have revolutionized movie viewing and the innovative Watch it
Now feature allows the savvy consumer to cancel their expensive cable or satellite plans. You
can now beam the latest movies direct from your computer to your TV and save thousands of
dollars per year on the cable bill.

2.) Shift to Online Telephone – In the same vein, the internet now allows families and individuals
to transfer their landline phones to an online service. The Vonage Company has made internet
phone plans affordable and convenient, and you can use this service [Read more…]
